Tony Soave’s Affiliate Employs Unique Landscape Recycling Initiative Soave Enterprises has a reputation for being cutting edge and in addition to its innovative automotive recycling program, Soave-owned Parts Galore’s newest location has added a second environmental triumph to its roster. Seeing a need for additional landscaping, the Flat rock location’s employees responded to a challenge from company President, Bill Wild. They devised a landscaping plan to improve the front entrance’s appearance. Recycling More than Automotive Parts Team members Kay Feaganes, Reva Thuot, Kathy Tyler, Tonya Wood and Ashley Allen decided to literally dig deep into their backyards and recycle their own plants and bushes. The environmentally-minded gardeners transplanted the greenery to parts Galore’s location and added organic beauty and color to an attractive brick facade. Horticultural contributions included Easter lilies, day lilies, bleeding hearts, hostas, black-eyed Susans, and sedums. The diverse array of flowers and plants created a beautiful and welcoming display for Soave employees and customers. “We thought it would be a great idea to use our recycling theme to decorate and enhance the landscaping,” said Parts Galore Assistant Manager, Ashley Allen. “They have brought environmental recycling to the next level.” Newly-promoted Flat Rock Store Manager, Joe Reynolds loves the idea of the recycling theme not only because of the improved aesthetics, but it also keeps his cost down. “All of the plantings are low maintenance and drought resistant,” he noted. An Innovative Approach to Automotive Scrap Parts Galore is an automotive scrap yard that is changing the way consumers view junkyards. The complex offers do-it-yourself auto parts salvage on an 18-acre lot. At any given time, over 2,000 cars and trucks are available for customers to look through and remove and parts they need. Each vehicle is neatly lined up and organized by both vehicle type and manufacturer. “It’s a self-service yard with an enormous, ever-changing inventory of vehicles,” says Parts Galore Manager Bill Wild. “It’s part of a new nationwide trend that is cleaning up junkyards and making them more accessible and cheaper for regular folks to get into to retrieve parts on their own.” Each of the three Parts Galore locations provides signs to mark specific sections according to vehicle manufacturer and model. Maps are also available throughout the yard to direct customers to find the vehicle makes and models they need to easily recover the parts they came for. The simple concept allows for lower operation expenses and enables Soave Enterprises to pass the savings on to the customer. Parts Galore is a collaborative effort between the Parts Galore staff on site and workers at Soave Enterprises affiliate, Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT). Before vehicles are

placed into inventory, the Parts Galore staff removes the gas tanks and all remaining fluids (gasoline, engine oil, transmission fluid, etc.), which are then recycled. Parts Galore processes about 1,000 vehicles per month. After they make their way through the scrap yard, the automobiles are then taken to a FPT plant, representing the latest development in automotive recycling technology and marketing of obsolete cars and trucks. Ferrous Processing & Trading is one of North America’s premier processors, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds. They are supported by the unique skills and experience of the management, commercial, and operations teams. Their ownership assures both financial strength and a deep commitment to the industry and their customers. FPT’s reputation is built on the core values of integrity, expertise, responsiveness, and creativity in the scrap metal recycling industry. Their partnership with Parts Galore represents their commitment to ongoing innovation and sustainability.
