Who's ready for a nap? For some children, nap time is a blessed release from the noise and busyness of the day. Some children almost seem to crave this downtime, going to sleep uickly and sleeping for a good one to two hours without any fussiness. However, for the majority of children, nap time does not always start out that well, and some children seem to go for years without a long, peaceful nap. If you are a frustrated parent of an infant or toddler who is resistant to daytime sleep, you need some hacks or helpful tips to make nap time less stressful on both yourself and your little one. Understand How Many Naps Your Little One Needs  If you do not know how much napping time your child needs each day, you may be setting him up for failure with unrealistic expectations. The amount of time your child spends napping will gradually decrease as he heads from infancy into the toddler years. By the age of one or one and a half, your baby will probably move to only one afternoon nap per day. This nap generally will not continue past the age of ive.
STRESSFREE NAPTIMES
The total amount of time that your child sleeps each day will depend on his age. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the following amounts for your younger children. These totals should include all daily sleep, including naps when applicable. .
In ants up to 12 months of age: 12 to 16 hours daily 1 to 2 years of age: 11 to 14 hours daily 3 to 5 years of age: 10 to 13 hours daily 6 to 12 years of age: 9 to 12 hours daily.
Create a Routine  Children of all ages crave routines.
Routines help them know what to expect, and they also help their bodies get used to regular sleeping and waking schedules. Although a nap may fall through the cracks on rare occasions, such as when you are out of town, strive to put your child down for a nap at the same time every day. This will help her learn to fall asleep on her own. 5 |Â SO BEAUTIFUL BABY
Create the Perfect Sleeping Environment By the toddler years, your child’s body is conditioned to be awake during daylight hours and to be asleep when it is dark outside. This can make it uite di icult to get your child to sleep during the day for an afternoon nap. Ideally, your child will take his nap in the same location every day, which should be in a crib or similar safe but solitary spot. In addition, create a uiet, dark area using blackout curtains, and try to reduce household noises during that time.
Keep Your Child Active during Awake Time Children who are allowed to rest for long periods of time during their awake hours may not be tired enough to take a nap at the right time. In the same way, letting your toddler look excessively at television or tablet screens during this time can cause his brain to zone out, also making afternoon sleep more di icult. Instead, try to keep your child as active as possible during the waking hours. Encourage active play, including outdoor play when possible. You can also take him out and about on errands or to library events. By actively engaging the mind and body now, your child will be more ready for sleep later. 6 | SO BEAUTIFUL BABY
Watch for Sleep Cues
Because you are the person most attuned to your child’s needs, you are also the expert at reading her sleep cues. Children give off a wide variety of different sleep cues, and your second-born child may react to tiredness far differently than your irst-born child did. However, some of the cues you can watch for include the following: -Yawning -Rubbing the eyes -Crankiness -Pulling the ears -Sucking a inger or thumb -Refusing to play
S ay Calm
Your little one knows your moods nearly as well as you do. Although she may not be able to put a name to them, she knows how you are acting, when you are upset and when she has you in a corner. If you get upset and frustrated about her resistance to naps every day, it is likely that she will continue playing the same game to get the same reactions out of you. However, if you remain calm in the face of her resistance, she may eventually give up and start taking her naps. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers need excellent sleep in order to function well every day. Without su icient rest and uiet times, little ones may start feeling grumpy and may begin acting out in frustrating ways. However, by using these tips and tricks to make nap times longer and more restful, your child will feel happier, and you will be able to enjoy more peace and overall success in your home.

FERTILITY TIPS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO BOOST FERTILITY
If you have spent years trying not to get pregnant, it may come as a shock to you if you do not immediately become pregnant as soon as you begin trying with your partner. Choosing to try for a baby is an incredibly weighty decision for most people. However, the struggle to get pregnant can be even more di icult. While the majority of couples do become pregnant within one year of starting to try, some struggle with infertility for years. Although certain diseases and personal health concerns may be the cause for some of these struggles, there are a few things that you can do to boost your likelihood of becoming pregnant whether you are just starting down this pathway or you have been trying to become pregnant for months or years. Choose the Right Foods It may seem strange to you that what you eat can so closely impact your overall fertility. However, as the saying goes, you are what you eat. To get pregnant, your body needs to be perfectly in tune and well-balanced in all areas. Nowhere is this more true than in the area of nutrition. Some of the most important nutrients for ensuring that you have a regular menstrual cycle and that you ovulate at the right times include the following: 11 |Â SO BEAUTIFUL BABY
WHAT TO EAT -Protein -Omega 3 fatty acids -Iron -Zinc -Vitamin C -Vitamin B12 Opt for whole foods as much as possible because these are not illed with such potentially harmful chemicals as preservatives, food colorings and lavorings. You may also want to opt for organic produce, especially for those fruits and vegetables that are on the dirty dozen list. This will decrease your risk of ingesting pesticides. uit Smoking and Decrease Alcohol Consumption While your daily foods are important to monitor, it is e ually important to consider those other drinks and chemicals that you are putting into your body.
You have probably heard that you should not drink while you are pregnant for risk of harming the growing fetus. However, some research now shows that high alcohol consumption in both men and women can decrease one’s chance of becoming pregnant. In addition, this is a great time to give up cigarettes if you smoke because the toxins in cigarettes cause your ovaries to age prematurely and also decrease the chance for fertilization and implantation of your eggs. Watch Your Overall Health Whether you are just starting down the path to parenthood or have been struggling on this path for some time, now is the time to see your general practitioner or your OB/GYN. 12 | SO BEAUTIFUL BABY
At this appointment, be sure to go over any medications or supplements that you may be taking as well. This baseline doctor’s appointment is not only important for women but also is vital for men who may struggle with fertility health as well. Get to a Healthy Weight If you are overweight, you have a high likelihood of experiencing irregular menstrual cycles. In extreme circumstances, you could even stop ovulating. Similarly, being too thin can cause the same problems. Getting to the best weight for you can improve your fertility, decrease your risk of certain pregnancy complications and ensure that your future baby is born at a healthy weight. Stay Away from Workplace Issues Surprisingly, your work environment may be impacting your fertility. A stressful environment could disrupt your normal hormone levels while
while rotating work shifts may be e ually to blame. In fact, some studies have shown that individuals working rotating shifts have an 80 percent higher likelihood of experiencing fertility issues when compared to those who work straight days. Even opting for straight nights is better than working rotating shifts. In addition, watch out for chemicals or radiation that you could come into contact with while on the job. Have Sex at the Right Fre uency By this point, you lunderstand how important it is to monitor your menstrual cycle so that you know approximately when you could be ovulating. While ovulation usually occurs approximately 14 days after the start of your cycle, some women’s cycles vary dramatically. Consider purchasing a urine-based ovulation kit. Once you know the approximate day that you are ovulating, it is time to get busy in the bedroom. Try to have sex at least every one to two days around this time. 13 | SO BEAUTIFUL BABY

Fertility Advice TIMELINES
REDUCE STRESS
GET CONNECTED
If you and your partner have been unable to become pregnant despite trying for a year or more, a trip to your doctor is certainly in order. If you over the age of 40, you may want to see your OB/GYN after only six months of trying. Everyone is different and it is important to realize that one person's timeline can differ greatly from the next. Be kind and patient with yourself and try to avoid comparison as much as possible.
Regularly increased stress levels can seriously hamper your fertility. However, stress refers to more than just upsetting days at work. It could even refer to such bodily stressors as too little sleep or too much hard-core exercise. Find activities that help you relax, such as reading in the evenings, meditating for 15 minutes every morning or doing yoga regularly. Actively working to decrease stress can help your hormones rebalance themselves over time.
Keep in mind that you are not alone in your struggles. According to the CDC, in the United States alone, approximately 10 percent of women struggle with fertility or ind it di icult to stay pregnant. Thankfully, there are numerous resources that can help you. Besides your trusted OB/GYN, you can turn to a variety of reputable national organizations for information, support and guidance, including the resource list provided on this page.

Lose the Baby Weight Although the recommended weight gain for a normal pregnancy is between 25 and 35 pounds, many women end up gaining more than this amount during their pregnancies thanks to changing hormone levels that give them a myriad of food cravings.
Other women deal with complications that lead to excessive weight gain or start out their pregnancies overweight, giving them more weight to lose after giving birth. This extra does not have to be something that you live with for the rest of your life.
How to fit into your pre-baby jeans again Skip the Crash Diets
FEEL BETTER THAN EVER.
"Do not feel like you have to regain your pre-pregnancy shape as quickly as celebrities."
Although it can be tempting to go on a crash diet and lose your extra twenty or more pounds in only a month, these diets often sound a lot better than they really are. Many do not work as they say they will, and those that do help you lose weight uickly often accomplish this through very poor nutrition and by practically starving you. In fact, crash diets may actually cause you to regain weight more easily in the future. Do not feel that you have to regain your pre-pregnancy shape as uickly as celebrities seem to rebound.
In addition, you need plenty of iron, folate, and vitamin C, which you can ind in many fruits and vegetables as well as in eggs and certain meat sources. Finally, by putting plenty of iber in your stomach, you will prevent uncontrollable hunger later in the day. Some of the foods highest in dietary iber are once again fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains.
Opt for Nutrient Dense Foods
Next, it is incredibly important that you put the right foods into your body to nourish it and to help it repair itself after going through pregnancy and childbirth. Although you may be tempted to eat the easiest foods that you can get your hands on, such as pastries and chips, what your body really needs right now is protein for repairing itself.

Keep the baby weight off for good. If you do not have the time or energy yourself to cook wholesome meals, see if you have friends or family members who could cook several healthy freezer meals for you. You may also want to try a meal-delivery service. Thankfully, eating healthy does not have to mean gourmet meals and hours of preparation time. Instead, it can mean just 15 to 20 minutes of preparation the night before so that you can eat healthy when you are busy the next day.
Breastfeed if Possible
Not only is breastfeeding typically recommended for the health of your baby, but also it presents you with a uni ue option for losing weight. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, breastfeeding re uires you to eat up to 500 extra calories per day.
31 | SO BEAUTIFUL BABY
Move Whenever Possible
While very vigorous aerobic exercises and certain types of stretching or strength-training exercises are not recommended for the irst six weeks after a vaginal delivery and even longer than that after a C-section, some light movement is appropriate once you return home from the hospital. One of the simplest activities is walking because you can take your baby with you. A light stroll will help you burn some extra calories and give you some fresh air. Also, consider adding short strength training sessions using light hand weights because muscle burns more calories than fat does.
Fit tips for Moms Staying positive goes a long way! Get Enough Sleep
Finally, remember that you are expertly caring for the full health of your body when you get enough sleep. This can be di icult to do in the irst few months after birth when your baby needs you every few hours. However, try to take naps when your child naps. Your body needs enough sleep to keep your metabolism running smoothly. Plus, when you are wellrested, you are more apt to be able to keep your cravings under control.
"Losing the baby weight will not feel instantaneous." The key to remember is that losing the baby weight will not feel instantaneous. In fact, it could take you a year or more to get back to the weight that is best for you. According to Melinda Johnson, MS, RD, who is a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, “ The number one thing new mothers have to have is a certain amount of patience with their body. It took nine months to get there. It should take at least that long to get back to their ighting weight.” Give yourself some grace during this time, and focus on moderation and kindness to your body." 32 | SO BEAUTIFUL BABY
