Capri Is Calling
Escape to the southern coast of Italy at this pop-up turned permanent restaurant inside Eataly L.A. at Westfield Century City. Capri is a casual eatery with plenty of seating options indoors and out. The menu, a love letter to Italy, offers fresh seafood, house-made pastas, and regional Italian wines. Focus your attention on crudo to start. The yellowtail carpaccio and thinly sliced scallop are both light and excellent choices. For a carb fix, the Spaghetto Alla Nerano, with a tint of green from fresh basil and zucchini, is creamy and delicious. But you can’t go wrong with a hand-tossed pizza like the Melanzane e Provola, made with chunks of smoky eggplant and three types of cheese. No Southern Italian meal is complete without limoncello, and at Capri it’s always house-made. 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, 213.310.8000
A High Point of View
With wraparound views of the city from the 34th floor and a rotating program of live music and DJs, La Lo La Rooftop at the AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles is a summer hot spot. Relax on lounges set under twinkling string lights in a desert-like setting with palm trees, cacti, and succulents. Cool off with Spanish-influenced drinks like sangria or a cocktail called Mexican Candy, which is made with mezcal, watermelon juice, and agave. Tapas are also grounded in Spanish roots with a selection of bites and charcuterie including ahi tuna tostadas, grilled skirt-steak skewers, and patatas bravas, all meant to be shared. 1260 S.
