GNAC News

Hi all and welcome to the “fashionably late” August issue of the Sentinel. I know that most of this is now old news but there is a ton of stuff in here that you may, or may not, know. I could go into the reasons we are late but you aren’t really interested in that so, on with the show. This issue has the opening schedules of the BC winter leagues and, for the first time, we are covering the Richmond Adult Soccer League. We also have the usual suspects from Vancouver Island, Metro and Fraser Valley Leagues alongside the Lower Island and Metro Vancouver Women’s Leagues. There are all the wrap ups we have from around the country including reports from the 1st ever League1 BC finals. We are grateful to have Dean from BC Soccer News writing for us a comprehensive report on his day out at the finals. We also have a full report from the Women’s final courtesy of the always excellent AFTN website. It’s all starting up again across the country in U Sports and the CCAA and for the first time we are covering all the Conferences in the CCAA to accompany the U Sports conferences. Add to that Canada’s only team in the NCAA, the newly named Simon Fraser Red Leafs and you have a ton of University content too. As always we have the excellent articles brought to you by AC Lang with her womxn’s round up, Rocket Robin with a run down of the League1 Ontario play offs and The Trident’s bring you the highs and lows of following Pacific from the UK. It was great to bump into Robin at the Vaughan Azzurri v Simcoe County Rovers League1 Ontario Semi Final. It’s been a few years since we last met but he is always friendly and one of the most knowledgeable on the circuit of all things GTA.

We also bring you the round up of the 1st ever League1 Canada Inter-Provincial Tournament which was a great success in Quebec along with news of the upcoming National Championships which, happily for me, are taking place less than an hour away from me. I have already warned my daughter she is in for a few long days!!! Anyway, I am really aiming to get the October issue out at the 1st weekend in October. However, my late Mom always said “The road to hell is paved with good intentions!” Fingers crossed the stars align and we get it done! Thanks for reading. All the best
