The Social Register of Las Vegas is extremely proud and honored to be celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. The Social Register’s team would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every Member and Corporate Sponsor for making this possible through your tremendous support and participation. We are overwhelmed and very grateful for your fantastic support, pride and excitement that the Society Magazine has achieved. Our goal is to produce quality content, events and marketing materials for our diverse audience of entrepreneurs and senior executives. Society Magazine’s team will be interviewing key CEO’s to discover how they made it to the top and offer their advice on how other leaders can do the same. By delivering this valuable insight, advice and strategy, we help business leaders take their organizations to the top and, just as important, stay there. Our team and I would like to thank everyone who participated in the production of this issue of our Society Magazine, especially our incredible advertisers for their generous support and our members for their insightful contributing articles. SRLV understands that one of the biggest challenges business owners have today is getting in front of the decision makers. For the past 20 years we have been honored to play a part in helping our members take their businesses to a higher level by expanding their networking, advertising, marketing, promotions and branding capabilities. Plus reaching out, supporting and educating our members on the numerous needs of our local charities in our community.

GROWING YOUR BUSINESS WITH LINKEDIN LinkedIn is the foremost professional social networking platform with 94 of the Fortune 100 companies using LinkedIn's corporate talent solutions. There is no denying that having a professional profile on LinkedIn and using LinkedIn can help grow your business. Professionals are still signing up with LinkedIn at a rate of over two members per second. http://press.linkedin.com/about. What does all this mean for your business? Establishing yourself as a "go to "person in your field is not always easy and certainly even with LinkedIn it takes time and effort but it can be done. I never like the word "expert" but the point is that you can reach so many more people by engaging on LinkedIn than you could possibly hope to meet in face to face networking opportunities. That is not to say that you shouldn't do face to face networking, of course you should but use LinkedIn as another business building tool that can connect you with potential clients and strategic partners. Here's how: Ÿ Be sure you have a professional profile that is complete using key words and a professional photograph Ÿ Be sure your contact information is current and that you 6

have taken a personal URL which should go on your email signature(s) Use a title with key words, not necessarily your company name Start posting on LinkedIn 2-3 days per week Post your blogs on LinkedIn - you can copy and paste your blogs or write directly on LinkedIn - be sure to check spelling and grammar. Posting articles by others? Be sure to check for a Share button. When you post - think of your audience. Who are your clients? Who are your strategic partners that would refer you clients? Talk to specific professionals when posting, i.e. post an article that CPAs might find interesting that relates to your particular field if CPAs are a good source of referrals for you
Remember that your LinkedIn profile is your "resume online" and where people WILL go to check you out. Would you hand someone a sloppy, half completed resume or bio?

A Pocket Full of Miracles By Greg Meridith - President Business Payment Advisors
When it comes to the holidays, thoughts of joyful celebration and the season of giving continue to provide me with renewed faith in a complex world. Professionally, I am faced with the reality of our economic situation and understand the challenges many of my clients face. Businesses need access to financing to fund expansion, yet banks are still keeping their purses clamped shut. "They prefer to lend only to businesses that don't need the money," as the traditional stereotype about banks goes. There is good news, though: Into this "funding gap," flexible financing options have stepped up to provide business owners and entrepreneurs' access to the credit they need. These solutions allow funding opportunities for every business, whether you are a start-up with no financial track record or a business generating millions in revenue, but just starting to turn a profit. Start-ups lack two of the most important items a conventional lender will look for in a business, strong financials and a minimum of two years business history. Even if the business has strong revenues, conventional lenders will deny funding based on an insufficient history; and most conventional lenders will require collateral of some sort from businesses with a short track record. Through flexible financing, a start-up can gain access to

hundreds of thousands with no more than a personal guarantee. Business owners with good personal credit can leverage that to gain needed cash flow. For business owners with less than sterling credit, other flexible financing options put the need for a personal guarantee aside, replacing that with funding options through revenue-based lending. Flexible financing also gives smaller businesses access to financial products traditionally reserved for larger businesses; cash-flow loans, second-lien and mezzanine financing. Loan options can also include working capital, dividend recapital-ization, bridge loans and distressed /turnaround funding. My wish for you this holiday season is one of new found knowledge and prosperity. Know your options and believe that anything is possible.
CSS Nevada - Member Spotlight
BRENNA
McClellan
Brenna McClellan is the President of CSS Nevada which specializes in entity formation, business services, and Asset Protection Programs. When Brenna started her career she had no idea that she would end up in a job helping people protect their assets from intrusion by unwanted third party predators.
"I started out working for Albertsons in their corporate division. I fully expected that I would spend my life as a corporate administrator. I had no idea what changes were in store for me.” In 2005 a friend of the family invited Brenna to join a company that worked with owners to form entities for their business activities. The Company, CS Nevada, employed a small contingency of people who specialized in the various areas of entity formation for corporations, LLC's, Limited Partnerships, Living Trusts and Land Trusts. "When I started in this business I did not realize how complicated ownership issues could be," Brenna said. "Forming a company in most States looks so easy when you can go on a State Web Site and just make a few clicks, pay a small filing fee and, voila, you have a corporate entity. There are a lot of companies out there who perform these basic services for people and charge very nominal fees. But, basically, all they are doing is a relatively simple task that anyone can do with minimal training and coaching. I found out early that there is no simple way to form and maintain a valid, legal business entity that serves as a fortress for its owners to protect them from personal liability and lawsuits.” Earlier this year the major shareholder of CSS NEVADA decided that it was time to plan for the future of the business. CEO, Alan Russell, employed a consulting group who worked with him to form and implement a plan of succession for the Company. One of the first steps in that plan involved engaging a new President and Brenna was selected as the person most suited to take on that role. I never expected to take the reins of this Company, Brenna noted. There's a lot more to running the whole company than handling sales. My primary concern is to strengthen the legacy which Alan Russell has established for the business: Ÿ Maintaining high standards of integrity and competency for our clients; Ÿ Making sure that their interests are our highest priority; Ÿ Ensuring that their entities meet the highest standards for validity and
competency possible. I am very proud of our reputation in this community and I intend to work hard to continue to meet those high standards of excellence. 12

Ourselves To Change Our Future
Reinvention is an important aspect to many of us who harbor an entrepreneurial spirit. What does reinvention mean? Reinvention is a process in which we renew ourselves to change our futures. Reinvention is a future-focused process of behavioral change and self-discovery. I am here to challenge you to begin your selfevaluation. Do you have what it takes to make the necessary changes towards your own reinvention? Where do you start? Yogi Berra said "If you don't know where you are going any road will get you there." For a successful outcome you must start with a unique and individual plan to outline what you wish to achieve. So, many of us dream of a future that is much different than our present lives. We focus on the end game and don't necessarily understand or choose to take the steps that will get us there. Here is how to start your reinvention. First, stop embracing the concept of immediate gratification and look towards the long-term pay-offs. The future is about you. What truly matters to you? What will you regret not having done in life? Second, many clients tell me their biggest challenge to overcome is finding the time to make crucial changes happen. Why"? I believe the answer may be avoidance,
vulnerability and the fear of failure. No one enjoys those uncomfortable feelings; change can be a painful process. Third, set realistic goals. Some goals may be achievable within weeks, and others may take years to complete. Breakdown your plan to incorporate small actions that you can complete daily. We tend to devote so much time to our day's events that we may ignore what is good for our futures. Fourth, expect set-backs and be honest with yourself about how long a new action may take. Don't overestimate the ability to achieve change and the continued effort it will take. Continuously reassess your progress and keep track of your achievements. This will help you to remain positive and motivated while working towards your goals. Fifth, develop a support system to keep you grounded and focused. Working with a coach can be a rewarding experience especially when you have doubts about how to get started on your reinvention process. A coach will keep you accountable and can contribute valuable tools and expertise to ensure you are able to become more future-focused and achieve the life satisfaction for which you are searching.
