Primary Source

This is a painting of King George the III by Ramsay. King George is standing in a golden robe and had put his arm on his hip. My book is about King George so I thought I should do a picture about him. This picture is connected to the book by it is a picture of King George and when he was crowned they showed exactly the same picture of him.

Painted in 1767

Secondary Source George III was one of the longest reigning British Monarchs. He oversaw the conquest of an empire in the Seven Years' War, and the loss of the American Colonies in the War of Independence. The British Empire was the leading model of Industrial and economic development in an era when the whole world was to be mapped and conquered. The face of Europe changed dramatically, as Britain and France struggled for domination. Britain emerged from that struggle as the world's leading power, but it was a nation faced with a fragile governmental structure and deep social strife. This is a direct quote written Published by ushistory.org. I like this source because in a short summary it says the interesting things about the King. Summary: King George II dies. George the III is next in line and has plans about what he is going to do. He gets crowned King George the III. When he does a big war breaks out British against the French. A lot of people die in it Britain also loses a lot of money.. After King George the III Taxes the American Colonies with different taxes and the colonies don’t like that. Another war breaks out Britain against the American colonists. The war ends and the American win. Review: It tells a lot about his family and what happened with his family. “On June 3, 1738, Augusta felt a sharp pain while strolling in the palace gardens.” You will enjoy this book if you like to read memoirs. It also tells about things that Happened outside of the palace. “The war had started in 1756.” I like reading these books it is really good if you want to learn about history.

The Death of King George II “A messenger, what could this mean?” I thought. My heart racing, I tore open the letter and read. Without revealing to my friends who were with me on a riding trip through the country side what the message revealed, I excused myself from the party and rushed to Kensington Palace. While I rushed to the palace to seek additional news, I didn’t know what to expect. But if what I had been thinking was true then my life would change and I would have a lot to do in the future. My father was already dead and my grandfather, King George II, was seriously ill. I had been waiting for my grandfather to die and for him to be out of the way. I was already 22 years old and I was ready to become a powerful king. I had ideas how to rule such as have everyone under the control of great Britain and I was sure I would put all my power and try to put these initiatives into practice. My families’ origin was from Hanover, Germany. My grandfather was on a strong opinion that Hanover outclassed England in every way. He told us constantly that the Hanoverians were more intelligent, polite also the soldiers were braver. The food was also better. But I knew that my grandfather’s attitude made his British subjects distrust him. In my case this would definitely change. I spoke fluent German but I had no interest in Hanover and didn’t want to go there ever. I learned English and I was the first to speak this official language in court because I wanted to be a patriot king. I had one plan to concentrate my attention on Britain and the wider Empire, to the dismay of the politicians who would have preferred

me not to because they would had liked the power for themselves. I wanted to make Britain stronger and crush countries that rebel. I knew I was not the cleverest man in the whole world, but I didn’t need to be bright to be a great King. I was also hard working and an early riser. I learned a lot from my father and also from Lord Bute who was my advisor and was my mentor whom I hero-worshiped. I got to Kensington Palace and I met my mother who sat on the side of my grandfather bed. “Mother?” I asked. “Yes George,” she answered. She sat behind the other side of the bed her hands on the bed; I could see that she was crying. “Your grandfather has died of a heart attack,” she said really slowly. I could not believe what I had heard. My grandfather dead that meant I was next in line for the crown. I was very scared and same time also excited. I had spent my whole life preparing for the moment when I would be next in line. I felt I was going to need a lot of help from the counsellors especially from my mentor Bute. I thought I would keep my grandfather’s death a secret and ordered everybody in the household to hold their tongs. I felt I would need a lot of help from Bute. But I would do my best to be a fine king.
