The Nordic Watercolor Museum last year celebrated 20 years as an internationally recognised art scene. Situated right by the wild sea, the museum is a popular destination that brings the world to Skärhamn and broadens horizons. A creative, open space for encounters between people, art and nature.

For 20 years, the Nordic Watercolor Museum has been an inspiring place that wants to bring its visitors on a journey of discovery and experiences. An establishment that explores watercolours and offers a wide range of culture such as artistic development, events, performing arts, courses and workshops. A museum that explores conversation, freedom of speech, self-creation and emotions through the art of watercolours.

SUMMER EXHIBITION 2021

In 2021, the museum’s big event of the year will inevitably be the summer exhibition with none other than Friedensreich Hundertwasser, one of the internationally most famous artists of the post-war era. Hundertwasser was a painter, a visionary artist and ecological pioneer, whose work has never been more relevant than today. His work is bursting with colour and creativity and brings an appealing vitality and energy. Rebelling against the straight line, he broke new ground for a more human architecture in harmony with nature.

HUNDERTWASSER

The focus of the exhibition is Hundertwasser's work from the early 1950s to late 1970s. The presentation includes works on paper in watercolor and mixed media, graphic works, tapestries and architectural models. The exhibition is produced in collaboration with The Hundertwasser Not-For-Profit Private Foundation in Vienna.
