The torque on this mashine is nothing like a brandnew Yamaha or Ducati. It is more like a chilled pensioner, who is not willing to excellerate, at all costs.
50 hp are totally enough - the R80 was designes for long tours over the german roads, sometimes with hills and mountains, sometimes not.
The engines are medium sized and have a terrible sound with the stock exhaust. But with a great thirdparty exhaust system, the sound will blow your mind!

In England in the 1950s and 1960s, a vibrant rock n roll scene gave rise to cafe racer motorcycles. The bikes at the time served more as a lifestyle icon than anything else. Thanks to the retro boom and the significance of what they stand for in the history of motorcycles, they are currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity.

For this we focused on a mostly black bike with polished chrome and aluminium parts. The brown leather details on the seat, the gas cap cover and grips stand out for a retro look. The Audi RS6 nardo grey tank gives the bike the wanted modern but old school look. This is also emphasized by the new electronic components like lights, blinkers, tachometer and switches. The boldness is created by the black painting of the engine block, forks, triple clamps, frame and springs. The fork boots and headlight grill add to this style as well. The bike is fully road-legal in Germany, where the regulations are pretty tight. You can read about all the modifications in the included list below. We would be please to answer any further questions you might have about us or about the bike. Of course you can read more about us, our professional backgrounds and about the bike on our website kaspeed-moto.com . We would love to hear from you soon for a feature on the motorcycle page we were following and gaining inspiration from since years. We were lucky enough to find a GS 550 with spoked wheels and in all around good conditions as a base for the build and style we envisioned. The bike is a complete custom brat style build. Our goal was to create a retro style with a lightweight feel but still creating a bolder look than the original without adding too much color to the bike.

A motorcycle‘s engine is its beating heart and plays a significant role in defining the bike‘s personality. The CX500‘s 497cc 80° V-twin engine, designed by Shoichiro Irimajiri, had 48 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and a top speed of 106 miles per hour. However, unlike a Harley-Davidson, this engine was mounted longitudinally in the frame, just like a Moto Guzzi from Italy. Although the engine was narrower than the Moto Guzzi‘s due to the 80° V angle, balancing the engine was a little trickier.
INTRODUCTION
Honda‘s new model for 1978 was dubbed „First to the Future“ before „Back to the Future“ was even a concept. This new model had some big shoes to fill. Its predecessor, the Honda CB550, was a brilliant motorcycle with excellent handling and balance. Therefore, the new Honda motorcycle for 1978 needed to be more than just a good motorcycle; it needed to be a great motorcycle.
Shoichiro Irimajiri, the designer behind the Honda GL1000 and the mind-blowing six-cylinder Honda CBX, was the brains behind the brand-new Honda motorcycle for 1978. But when reviewers first saw his new design for 1978, they were not as in awe as they had been with the CBX. Many reviewers were initially put off by its appearance, which resembled a cross between a Honda and a Moto Guzzi. One said of its engine: „It looks like an air compressor.“. „. It was clear that they would not fall in love right away.
The motor is the beating heart of a motorcycle, and it greatly influences how it behaves. Shoichiro Irimajiri created the 497cc 80 degree V-twin engine for the CX500, which had a top speed of 106 miles per hour and 48 horsepower at 9,000 rpm. The engine was mounted longitudinally in the frame, similar to an Italian Moto Guzzi, but not like a Harley-Davidson. The 80 degree V angle made the engine narrower than the Moto Guzzi‘s, but it was more difficult to balance.
The first model CX500 brakes that were shipped to the US market had a drum brake at the back and a single front disc. This model came with Comstar wheels that were 19“ up front and 18“ back. The first motorcycle in production with tubeless tires was the CX500. Except for the Australian market from 1980 to 1982, where it was known as the CX500 Shadow, this motorcycle was generally referred to as the CX500 „Standard.“.

The motorcycles in the Honda CX series are a „poor man‘s Moto Guzzi“ in some ways, but they are much more than that. As with the majority of products that leave Honda‘s factories, they are „boringly reliable“ and have a well-deserved reputation for being simple to operate and enjoyable to ride. They also have lively handling and well-designed motorcycles. A CX series in good condition is probably a good buy among the used bikes available on the market, wherever you are in the world.
Make sure the automatic camshaft tensioner has been installed in its place. You can check the engine‘s serial number to see if this has been done by looking for three punch marks forming a triangle next to the serial number. This mark was used by the dealership to certify that the fix had been made. These bikes were and remain excellent thanks to their shaft drive, liquid-cooled engine, and the Honda badge. Checking that the right coolant and not just plain water has been used will help ensure that the dependable Honda power plant remains dependable Honda, just as it would with any liquid-cooled car when purchasing one.

Simply put, the best thing you can do with your life is to ride your own, individual motorcycle while only being accompanied by the wind and engine noise, smelling the passing scenery, and experiencing the power and speed.
