THE PROTOTYPE The ‘truss me’ protoypes were developed with the help of a group of artisans in the village of sankhela,tripura, india, a region which has an abundant bamboo resource, cultivated in organized plantations by local farmers. All of the products are completely handcrafted. the components used for construction are modular and repetitive, and can be produced in batches by a group of craftsmen. the equipment involved for production are basic hand tools. through a modular system of jigs, fixtures and templates, the construction elements were quickly realized and also maintained a formal consistency and quality to the individual components. the furniture has been designed to use locally resourced bam-

It is a burgeoning non-profit community center with the goal to be ‘self-sustaining’ by the end of 2012. It is also where the people of El Transito develop healthy relationships with outsiders and each o... ther, whether it be short-term volunteers from other countries or other fellow Nicaraguans with special skill sets to impart. For volunteers that encourage the community by sharing their knowledge, ETCA will also be a place of short-term retreat and rest.
MuNica was founded in May 2011 by David, Manuel and Lorenz, three students from Munich, Bavaria. It is the company’s mission to support a cooperative in El Transito, Nicaragua. Mission The target of our first pilot project together with the "El Transito Arts Center" is to support entrepreneurial initiatives of a women's cooperative in Nicaragua and to build up an international distribution channel for fair trade products at the same time. We aim to empower the people of El Transito to utilize their own potential and to take entrepreneurial decisions independently. Through our project we seek to improve the economic, social and cultural situation of the community in El Transito and foster sustainable development. Vision Our vision is to build a world in which every single individual has the opportunity to improve its living conditions by means of entrepreneurial activity. To achieve this goal, we concentrate on a concept of cooperation that is replicable worldwide.
