DESIGN EXPERIENCE The Carter Bar Queretaro, Qro. Mexico 2021 - 2022 Freelance opportunity to redesign The Carter Bar inspired by an English – Egyptian concept. All materials, finishes, lighting, and furniture were selected and specified in the design using technical drawings, renders, and material boards. Through the project completion, I collaborated with furniture manufacturers, architects, sculptors, blacksmiths, electricians, and importers. Custom made furniture design including chairs, bar stools, sofas, benches, tables, bookshelves, columns, bar and DJ furniture in collaboration with Aydia, a large furniture manufacturer in Mexico City. I worked side by side with their carpenters to fix furniture details using AutoCAD, ensuring ergonomics and proper dimensions. Later on, worked with local upholsterers to fix last minute errors. I created reflective ceiling plans to work with electricians and find new solutions to relocate wiring. Bulbo, a lighting company in Mexico City, helped me select and import chandeliers, scones, and table lamps. Electricians and blacksmiths worked hand in hand during the lighting installation. Collaborated with blacksmiths to design the handrailing and imported medallions to create a unique design. Collaborated with local artisans and sculptors to recreate an Egyptian stone replica of 135x288 cm from Queen Hatshepsut’s temple at Deir El Bahari, Egypt. Custom made stone moldings were designed by local sculptors. Collaborated with architects to redesign the ceiling structure, custom windows, and cover stone walls.

The Carter Bar Freelance Project | Hacienda Laborcilla

Hacienda Laborcilla was initially designed as a traditional 18th century Mexican Hacienda, then transformed and restored almost entirely to become a Restaurant – Bar. The Hacienda opened its bar in 2010 mixing the Egyptian culture in its interior design. This project consisted of remodeling the bar in its entirety to change its identity to a luxurious and sophisticated space. I was inspired Fall 2022

mainly by the eclecticism, opulence, and theatricality of Jacques Garcia. Especially in his designs Hotel Costes in Paris and Nomad Hotel in New York.

I followed an Egpytian concept requested by the client by including Egyptian statues, custom made Egyptian stones, and a material palette that includes quarry stone with sandy tones, red and dark blue velvet fabrics for the seating areas, patterned Casa Mance accent fabrics, golden ceilings, and extensive use of wood. The aim to the renovation was to create an ambiance where guests transport themselves out of time to live a unique

In collaboration with architects, we covered the slopes for a plain ceiling and added wood frames alligned with the windows.

A library surrounds the custom made speakers to integrate them in the design for an intimate ambiance.

In collaboration with architects, we redesigned the windows overlooking the restaurant to a traditional aluminum design.

The circulation for the staff consists of stairs in the bar area that connect the bar with the ground floor where the kitchen is located.

The bar contains three entrances, two from the restaurant and one from the street.

The Children’s Circle is a kindergarten I designed for my Design Research Project at university. The project is based on a real-life location in Calenzano, a commune in the Metropolitan City of Florence in the Italian region of Tuscany. Alba Srl was founded in 1993 and is part of the Apparel Manufacturing Industry, leather goods headquarter. Based on my research and understanding of pre-school growth and learning, I considered various facilitates the cognitive, emotional, and social development of young children.

| 28 Florence Institute of Design International

Having decided to make changes to the building’s structure, I followed the concept “Circles in Architecture” to give an identity to the kindergarten. The circle is all about Spring 2021

inclusion, and it represents connection, unity, and community. I translated the concept into the project by designing semi-circular windows of the classroom’s façade overlooking the courtyard, circular ramps, round doors, soft wall corners, and organic furniture. Other changes were made to the building, such as opening a skylight and demolishing walls for an open plan ground floor. I increased the availability of natural light, which is known to improve wellbeing and academic performance. Colors are used intentionally for orientation to stimulate cognitive

Gentle Herd Retail Design This project consisted of designing a Gentle Herd store for Bloomingdale´s. Gentle Herd is a clothing brand that creates affordable and elegant pieces made from sustainable fabric. The team is passionate about eco-friendly, high-quality fabrics such as cashmere Fall 2023

and wool. The brand values transparency, sustainability, love, and gentleness. Therefore, the design concept follows precisely that. It transcends the store values into a warm interior design, like the feeling of a warm sweater. Elegant, straightforward, simple design. NYU School of Interior Design Design Studio

This project is based on the idea that New York University has been given an endowment to create a new School of Interior Design. The site Fall 2022

is based on a five-story loft building in Noho, a historical neighborhood in Lower Manhattan near the main campus of NYU. The purpose of the renovation was to create a functional space with a distinct character to establish a new image of the school. Hotel Le Murate Hospitality Design I designed a hotel for a school project in Le Murate located in Florence, Italy. Le Murate used to be a prison for more than a century, until 1985. Over the years, they renovated the building, adding two public squares where the jail’s two internal cloisters used to be. In one of them, they created a literary café where

Fall 2020

we designed Le Murate Hotel.

The neighborhood is alternative, bohemian, and relaxed. Therefore, I turned that into a concept which I thought would be suitable. The design provides a new spirit and sensibility; however, it protects and preserves historical elements. The design embraces a combination of bold patterns and textures to generate a bohemian-inspired space that is both vibrant and relaxed. Distinct archways, a gestural full-sized wall painting, and the mixing of warm and cool color tones contribute to the youthful atmosphere. Guests are immersed in a uniquely
