This project proposes a facade for the next housing volume. The conventional facade of the groundfloor base contrasts with the ceramic ventilated facade of the upper floors. This solution appears in memory of the former ceramic factory located in the same place. Finally, inner cores generate a domestic scale with a wooden finish, creating domestic terraces for the neighbors.

The proposal aims to overcome the infraestructure barrier which segregates the cities of Sant Cugat and Rubí. On a large- scale, by designing a new intermodal station under the highway, a green axis continuity between both city centers is allowed. Scaling down, the piece of architecture is concretised in a big square which stands as the intermodal public space, connecting renfe station (under the canopy) and FGC station (under AP7 highway).

DIFFUSION

“Urbact is a European exchange and learning programme promoting sustainable urban development”*. A project relating infraestructrues integration takes places in an area in Barcelona outskirts which embraces 4 municipalities: Cerdanyola, Ripollet, Barberà and Montcada. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

Barcelona, 10 June 2020 I would like to highly recommend Sofia Vila, who has played a valuable role in the “Planning and Territorial Support” team of the “Urban Planning Service of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona” (AMB), during two periods (separated by her Erasmus) between February 2017 and July 2018 and between October 2019 and May 2021. Sofia has shown a proactive and rigorous attitude towards the urban and territorial project in which she has collaborated where complex aspects such as urban redevelopment, mobility, urban management, restructuring of public space or enhancement of natural spaces, among others, converge. Her interest and involvement in urban challenges, together with her good skills and knowledge, have allowed her to make significant progress in her urban planning career. On the other hand, I must highlight her skills in other relevant aspects such as teamwork, mastery of different computer tools, task organisation and decision-making, with a remarkable degree of maturity. The projects in which she has collaborated are: -

Study for the reformulation of “Can Clota and Can Cervera” Planning sectors, based on a new urban model that integrates La Ronda de Dalt motorway and creates the new Torrents Territorial Park, in the municipalities of Esplugues and Hospitalet del Llobregat. Support for the drafting of the Urban Development Master Plan (PDU) in the functional area of Vallbaixa-Ordal, focusing on different aspects of urban and social structure and the creation of new microcentralities within the low-density and the interconnected city concept. Study for the industrial transformation of the area of "Pla industrial estate and Torrent de Can Miano" as a new Collserola Gateway, between the municipality of Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Molins de Rei. Study for the new metropolitan centre of “Quatre camins”, between Pallejà and Sant Vicenç dels Horts, based on the integration of the N340-BV2002 junction and a new intermodal station. Support for the Local Action Plan of the RIconnect network of the European URBACT programme.

It is for all these reasons that I am absolutely positive of her ability to undertake the next challenges with dedication and enthusiasm necessary to succeed in any study, company or administration.
