Coffee is a great beverage – one that’s been used over the years and also has a fair share of romanticism attached to it.

Cappuccino usually consists of equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and frothed milk. All this makes the coffee taste more diluted and weaker. Some coffee shops will sprinkle cinnamon or flaked chocolate on top and other will add more milk than others. All shops make some variance to

Health Benefits, (/ & Nutritional A cup of coffee in the morning may pack more than just an energy boost. More and more research is emerging to suggest that there may be several health benefits associated with drinking this dark black beverage, from helping preventdiabetes to lowering the risk of liver disease.

Coffee and liver cancer Italian researchers found that coffee consumption lowers the risk of liver cancer by about 40%. In addition, some of the results suggest that if you drink three cups a day, the risks are reduced by more than 50%. 7

Nowadays, with over 400 billion cups consumed every year, coffee is one of the world’s most popular drinks. But what makes it special?

The lead author of the study, Dr. Carlo La Vecchia, from Milan’s Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri, said “our research confirms past claims that coffee is good for your health and particularly the liver.”

Possible health benefits of coffee

Coffee and heart health

Coffee and diabetes

Researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Harvard School of Public Health, concluded that drinking coffee in moderation protects against heart failure. They defined ‘in moderation’ as 2 European cups (equivalent to two 8-ounce American servings) per day.

Coffee may be protective against type 2 diabetes. Researchers at UCLA identified that drinking coffee increases plasma levels of the protein sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG). SHBG controls the biological activity of the body’s sex hormones (testosterone andestrogen) which play a role in the development of type 2 diabetes.

People who drank four European cups on a daily basis had an 11% lower risk of heart failure, compared to those who did not.

4

The researchers found that the participants who increased their coffee intake by more than one cup a day over a 4-year period had an 11% lower type 2 diabetes risk over the subsequent 4 years, compared with people who did not change their intake.

The authors stressed that their results “did show a possible benefit, but like with so many other things we consume, it really depends on how much coffee you drink.

Charleston Fashion Week: Tracy Reese With every spring, after the hustle of the big league Fashion Weeks from New York to Paris, come the smaller buds – those regional runway events that showcase homegrown talents and also give established players the opportunity to engage with customers around the country. Last week, for example, Tracy Reese made her first trip to Charleston, S.C., for the 10th anniversary of its Fashion Week, which is sponsored by Baker Motor Company, so I asked the designer to send us a postcard about her experience. And here’s what she wrote: Charleston Fashion Week was a great experience! It had the excitement of New York Fashion Week with a big dose of Southern hospitality! I was so honored to travel down to South Carolina along with the designers of Creatures of the Wind and Cadet to share our collections on the Charleston runway. RELATED: Michelle Obama's Tracy Reese Dress Left the Designer "A Little Mystified" Charleston Fashion Week was the local event of the season! It seemed like every stylish Charlestonian made an appearance each evening to not only take in the shows, but also see and be seen at the VIP and party tents. It was fun to see the personal style of these polished Southerners, no one is afraid of color or print! On Friday evening, I was honored to share in judging the emerging designer competition. I was so impressed with the four young designers, showing beautiful collections with very distinctive points of view. From menswear-inspired tailoring to a modern twist on traditional Vietnamese garb, these new talents really brought their A-game! Charleston Fashion Week also gave us the chance to experiment a little with a “direct to consumer” show. With the current conversation about how the fashion industry is changing, we decided instead of showing our Fall 2016 collection, to show Spring 2016, which is currently available in stores and online. It was wonderful to see all of the positive reactions from the Charleston crowd knowing that everything they saw was available to purchase immediately.

You Want Tastier Coffee? Percolator, French press, AeroPress, espresso, pour over, vacuum pot, automatic brew, tin can: People go to great lengths for a good cup of coffee. (A friend of mine filters his cold brew with pantyhose.) But to achieve consistent flavor you may just need to chill your beans before grinding them. Colder beans produce smaller, more consistently sized particles when ground, yielding more flavor from less coffee, according to a study published in Scientific Reports. In busy cafes, temperature matters. As room temperatures vary and grinders heat up with use, the consistency of the resulting grind changes. That’s a problem, because water extracts flavor from smaller coffee grounds faster than bigger ones. An inconsistent grind means sour taste from the small grains, and a bitter one from the big, all at the same time. For a more flavor-driven, sour and sweet cup, baristas adjust grinder settings for finer particles throughout the day. But Colonna and Smalls, a specialty coffee shop in Britain, used science instead. They got together with chemists at nearby University of Bath to see how temperature affected how coffee beans break. They started at room temperature and went down to that of liquid nitrogen (-321 degrees Fahrenheit). It turned out, the colder the bean, the more uniform particles it produced, and the more even the flavor. “It’s important that all the particles in there are extracted at the same rate,” said Chris Hendon, a chemist who worked on the study and is now at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “It’s kind of cute that you can do that just by cooling the beans down before you grind them.” Baristas gearing up for the World Barista Championship, which takes place in Dublin from June 22 to 25, might want to bring some liquid nitrogen. But the home barista can just put the beans in the freezer — just keep them packed air tight to avoid staleness and moisture. In the end, coffee is just coffee: “It doesn’t matter if you like it hot or cold, or how you grind it, as long as you do it the same way every time,” said Dr. Hendon.

Coffee benefits without the risks?: The study is significant, partly because it suggests that people might be able to reap some of the health benefits of coffee consumption without actually drinking the caffeinated beverage. This is especially important for people concerned that caffeine consumption might cause or worsen a condition known as adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue refers to a cluster of fatigue-related symptoms said to be caused by overstressed, poorly responsive adrenal glands. In addition to directly reducing people's quality of life, adrenal fatigue is also believed to threaten their long-term health. "The hormones produced by your adrenal glands, particularly the stress hormone cortisol, play an important role in regulating your immune system," writes The Adrenal Fatigue Solution author and wellness coach Fawne Hansen at Adrenalfatiguesolution.com. "If your cortisol levels go too low or too high, this can lead to regular infections, chronic inflammation, autoimmune diseases or allergies." The term "adrenal fatigue" was coined in 1998 by chiropractor and naturopath James M. Wilson. Wilson notes that people suffering from adrenal fatigue might need to rely on coffee to get out of bed in the morning, but he does not suggest that caffeinated beverages can cause the condition. However, other writers such as Hansen warn that the adrenal glands can be stressed by constant caffeine consumption, thereby inducing adrenal fatigue.
