Dearest Officials, by this time in less than 20 days, the 34th National Selection Conference of EYP Greece will be officially open. As the session is drawing closer by the minute, our eagerness to welcome you here in Thessaloniki is constantly rising. This year, EYP Greece is hosting its first 4-day NSC in a long time and this provides us with unique opportunities, but at the same time raises the stakes and expectations from the session. The Organising Team has put together an ambitious plan and it is up to each and everyone one of us to live to it and contribute in our own and unique way to making the session remarkable. Dearest Officials, Having been in search of our golden ratio for quite a few months, it is such a pleasure and a joy for us to see actually what we have planned as theoretical concepts these months taking a real shape and form and each day coming closer to reality. It is thus our pure honor to address all 53 of you, the lovely people that are going to embody the session.
What I can promise for Thessaloniki ’16, is a warm, open and welcoming atmosphere that will hopefully accommodate everyone’s needs and expectations. Greek NSCs are the perfect example of combining the fun EYP spirit with an intensive programme and I hope that during the session we will achieve a golden ratio between learning and helping others learn, having crazy amounts of fun and getting down to some serious work, meeting new people and bonding. I hope that Thessaloniki ’16 will be a unique experience for everyone and I can’t wait to welcome you all in the Christmassy city where I took my first EYP steps. Yours,
We wholeheartedly hope that Thessaloniki ’16 will hold a place in your heart and will strive to create a place for you to grow, evolve, try new things and meet new people. We are looking forward to welcoming all of you in Thessaloniki in less than 20 days and we hope that you will get the chance to experience the greek hospitality and the magic of the city of Thessaloniki right before Christmas!
We are happy to present you our Welcome All the best, Booklet, containing useful information about the session itself along with instructions, welcoming words and contact details. Please Christos, take a few moments to read it carefully as it will hopefully provide you with guidelines that will help you prepare for Thessaloniki ’16.

Panel Discussion
6
Throughout the years, the main conflict lying in the very own core of the European Union is the one between sustainable economic growth and social welfare. The Union has made valuable efforts to balance the high rates of technological evolution taking into consideration the need for respect towards human dignity. However, it has become obvious in the past few years, that the current financial and humanitarian crisis that have shaken the world resulted in vast inequalities between people amongst technocratic societies that prioritise procedures and economic growth over the people.
Trying to fully depict the session’s topic, Thessaloniki ’16 will include a Panel Discussion with the participation of MEPs, scholars and representatives of the civil society, such as NGOs and Watches. The delegates will have the opportunity to engage into a genuine exchange of political ideas and dialogue. This part of the Session will take place in the amphitheatre of the Technical Chamber of Greece/ Section of Central Macedonia, while the resolution typing continues. The Panel Discussion is mainly addressed to the delegates so it will be conducted in Greek.
Venue: Tecnical Chamber of Greece, Section of Central Macedonia Dress Code: Formal
Session Procedures TEAMBUILDING | FRIDAY, 16th of DECEMBER 2016 During Teambuilding, the participants, in their respective committees, will get to know each other through a series of activities and games. In Thessaloniki ’16, 130 delegates will split into 10 different committees and with their help of the chairpersons they will work on group dynamics and problem solvers.
OPENING CEREMONY| FRIDAY, 16th of DECEMBER Probably this is going to be the most formal ceremony of the session. Members of the European Parliament, sponsors and extinguished guests will be present in the Opening Ceremony of the session. Moreover, after the Opening Ceremony there is going to be a small yet formal gala for the officials and our guest speakers in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki. All the officials are supposed to look professional, yet you must feel comfortable with what you will be wearing.

In GA, the committees come together to present and debate upon the resolutions they composed after two days of Committee Work. LEGAL ISSUES According to Greek legislation, alcohol consumption is prohibited to people under 18 years old. At the evening and night events and parties of the session, alcohol will be available for all adult officials. However, you are kindly urged to refrain from overindulgence in alcohol consumption. Anyone not being able to control their actions or cannot be respectful towards others due to alcohol will be immediately excluded by the session and sent back home, on their own expenses. We would not wish your stay in Thessaloniki and your participation in the session to be ruined by your own or others’ misbehaviour and lack of control over your actions.
The EYP operates a total zero tolerance policy with drugs.
ALUMNI PLATFORM According to the new Evaluation System of EYP Sessions, in order for you to be eligible for an evaluation from your superior official, you have to be registered at the session at the Members’ Platform. However, this is just a reminder for you and we kindly ask you to refresh your Platform Profile a few days prior to the session, since the Head Organising Committee will register everyone in the Platform beforehand.
