From holding Master’s degrees in art history to being the ultimate muses, fashion pets are certainly living the highest of life.

I

n such a fast passed thriving industry pets are the ultimate accessories. Fashion personalities are often regarded for the extravagancies they do when it comes to their loved pets. They are first of all considered family, in some cases even people; therefore in a fast growing obsession and market for animals all over the world it is not surprising these little creatures are gaining an incredible spot light like many would wish to have. Brilliantly brands have started promoting their mascots through social media reaching a different type of audience.

diary with every detail of what has happened. Katie Grand, LOVE magazine editor is also famously obsessed over animals, in particular her rabbit Clara who now has a brother, Bat. Although not living such a luxury life as Choupette these rabbits are fully emerged into the fashion industry by spending their time with top models, fashion’s finest professionals and fellow star pets across the globe. Evidently they also have a large following on Instagram where they peruse through life followed by very cute humoristic photographs.

The most famous and consequently most marketed star of them all is Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld light blue-eyed Birman cat. A gift from French male model Baptiste Giabiconi, Choupette’s stardom exploded when V magazine’s Stephen Gan tweeted a photo of her from Lagerfeld’s apartment. Evidently, Choupette had her own Twitter account created soon after and was, and still is, one of the most coveted personalities to interview in the industry. Even Karl himself as acknowledge people will soon speak more about her than him.

One of Grand’s rabbit’s friends is Cecil Delevingne, super model Cara Delevingne rabbit who she met at a photo shoot and asked to keep. This star pet is one of the most successful pets of Instagram with an incredible 102k following, undoubtedly thanks to his inter stellar owner who has over 8 million followers. Marc Jacobs is another famous devotee of sharing his dog persona online with accounts worthy of full time bloggers. Neville, a bull terrier is possibly the most patient dog around as he tolerantly poses for each photograph documenting his days and adventures. Named the king of New York (Choupette accordingly queen of Paris), Neville has even been appointed as LOVE’s magazine temporary guest editor, which undoubtedly was a predicted success as it granted pure joy and entertainment.

Since then Choupette has graced us in several editorial spreads, shared her in-flight knowledge via Instagram, launched a make-up collection with Shu Uemura and published her own book, Choupette: The Private Life of a High-Flying Fashion Cat where diet, beauty, fashion and healthcare are fabulously depicted.

Alongside, princess of New York Grace Coddington is obsessed with cats. Obsession might even be an understatement. Coddington is so obsessed with cats; her assistants have to be extremely cat friendly, it’s imperative as they are a substantial part of her life and have to be treated like such. Persian cats Pumpkin

Choupette certainly lives a life reserved for a queen; with two personal maids, one for the day and one for the night and a veterinary check-up every ten days. Karl, on the other hand, is always aware of how her days are spent, as the maids are required to keep a

and Bart sure hold a prime location in the worlds most fabulous fashion pet’s chart. These gracious felines have had an entire chapter in Coddington memoires dedicated to them as a clear sign of adoration. As one once said dogs have owners, cats have staff. Cat lady Coddington unconditional love and resemblance only seem to assure the well-known theory of the shared alikeness between owner and pet. Lastly, New York finest, Mr Tom Ford is another animal aficionado. By his side, beautiful smooth fox terriers Angus and India are Ford and Buckley’s confidents. They have appeared in Fords movie, A Single Man, a true reflection of his real self he claims. With an on-going frustrating relationship with the fashion industry values and morals Ford claims dogs are just completely themselves. They don’t try to impress, don’t have insecurity complexes and don’t have guilt, which interestingly enough might justify why fashion professionals are so in love and in need of a real relationship like the one we share with animals. In a materialistic and insecure industry dogs, especially, provide what most designers are lacking in their lives, a loyal confidant, a friend, an entertaining outlet and loveable non-discriminatory being. Marketing them often comes natural; the idea of sharing their love with their costumer base is understandable especially when considering how truly mesmerized with these creatures they are and the potential they see in them.

P

ets live a more pampered and luxurious life than the majority of humans, dogs are becoming divas and cats even have there own restaurants. Nowadays we take

care of our pets more than we do ourselves. With more than half of the population having a cat or dog with cats just tipping the spot for most poplar companion. Even though the economy has plummeted, the nation’s army of animal lovers are still splashing out on their pets even if it means sacrificing their own lifestyles. Were all going Pet crazy.

Harrods’ Pet Kingdom was possibly the most known

for its high class pet fashion with a pet spa offering vanilla and blueberry facials, wash and fluff drys, designer clothes, Mulberry angora mix dog sweaters costing £125 and a four-poster pet bed will set you back £700. Unfortunately Pet Kingdom closed to make way for a new women’s fashion floor, the closure was greeted with dismay by well-heeled animal lovers who have pampered their pets with diamond-encrusted dog collars and four-poster cat-beds from the store for years.

Posh Pet Parlour in Wimbledon is perhaps a little more

practical than Chanel doggy boots and Relik healing however it does offer a perfect pamper to Dogs and Cats. Pet salons like Posh Pet are the practical side of todays industry for washes and trims after those long walks in Richmond park, but when does it all become to much. With programs like ‘Posh pets Life of the rich and famous’ and famously spoilt dogs like Paris Hiltons I cant help but think are these animals benefiting from this blow dry and hair cut creation its owner has picked out from a magazine or is it to benefit the owner? Yes they look cute and fluffy and my trip to the salon definitely showed me that theres nothing more adorable than a Dachshund dog being blow dried. At the end of a day was it the cat that was thinking it was due a trip to the salon or did it just lay in front of the fire and lick its self clean, Why are putting her through the trauma of a bath and blow dry? K

iti Soininen of market analysts Mintel stated that

“About two-thirds of people say they treat their pet with as much care as they would a child, which shows pets are very

much seen as a member of a family, and that level of emotional connection shows why people are reluctant to cut back. With this in mind I can fully understand the connection to treat and look after your pet. Of course every pet should be well kept and cared for with the occasional trip to the groomers, but when does the pet pampering become pet luxury ? Is it acceptable to spend more on our pets upkeep and happiness than our own?

Some pet owners are spending on average around

ÂŁ300 a month or more on their pet and even enter their pooches into doggy beauty pageants. This has led to a huge increase of Pet fashion designers and pet stylists to provide more and more garments and accessories, along side luxury pet parlours and treatments popping up everywhere. Thanks to the influence of celebrity pets and designer doggies you can attain the maintenance of this once very American House wife trend within the suburbs of Surrey or Somerset. How long it will be until little dyed pink tails become a regular appearance on our morning walks?w
