Nouveau Musée National de Monaco presents a major exhibition of the art of Gilbert & George. 46 historical and more recent pictures tracing more than 40 years of creation are shown in a presentation designed by the artists on the three floors of Villa Paloma. This unique exhibition of pictures by Gilbert & George all coming from the collection of a family based in Monaco falls into a theme repeatedly addressed by the NMNM, that of a « built » landscape, subject of analysis and interpretation for a society that constantly changes. From this exceptional selection each viewer will see how the art of Gilbert & George comprises both a world of its own - intense, frightening, lonely, loving, abject, joyous, struggling, defiant, crazed, still, contemplative, vertiginous, desiring, modern - and a view of the past, present and future world.

Vintage or not ..it is the teddy bear dreams are made of! Play-mate, or imaginary friend, soft, sweet and cuddly, it eats with you, sleeps with you and in the dark it gives you the courage to keep fear at bay. They come with a variety of names, or take different forms, bear or adorable rabbit, male or female but one thing is clear – they are all soft toys. Something to be cuddled, to which you confide your very own dreams, all in all a best friend to accompany you everywhere. In my opinion the teddy bear has played a very important role in childhood experiences, giving a sense of security to the beholder, and joy to the person who gave it, since it is attributable to positive experiences which we remember with great pleasure.
The cuddly toy comes in advance of the first doll, the first car, it is already there in the cradle with its friendly face. A tradition handed down over generations and until today where it has become a little lapsed. However, the windows of the largest shops continue to offer us this fairytale world, for a variety of celebrations, fitted out with gigantic bears and numerous colourful rabbits, which have always continued to charm us and excite us, bringing to life the world of our dreams, so cherished by all. And so when Roberta Lamperti, Mrs Cookie in hand (a delightful bear with a smart dress and a pearl necklace), tells me about this new venture, who together with her sister Aurora has organised ‘Il Profumo dei Sogni’ – an event in which they talk about the emotions aroused by these wonderful soft toys, fascinated by the enchanting message they send out. Upon arrival in this elegant setting of the Michelin starred restaurant, da Vittorio, among the hills of Bergamo, I found myself surrounded by thousands of teddy bears, all of course Made in Italy, yet all different and very unique.

I allowed my emotions to do the talking, taking away with me two bears for my children, but it was more about the joy of owning one. Irresistible, elegant and endearing, every specimen is one of a kind, made from very fine materials and fabrics of the highest quality, dressed in linen, silk and cashmere clothes made by Loro Piana and Agnona.
All crafted by professional hands, both artisanal and sartorial of Piazza Grande 1564 that have always counted high-profile clients among its client base such as the Grimaldi family of Montecarlo and the British royal family. The magic of these bears is that they have taken the place of other toys and dolls, becoming bears that my children could have only ever imagine, since they are always to be found on top of their pillows when they wake. Ah I forgot to add that ours even have names; Mrs Love and Mr Mario and at times they can even be found sat on my bed!

After winning the 2004 Miss Universe Ghana pageant, and representing my country in Quito, Ecuador, I decided to use my platform to champion the cause of children. This came about the formation of the Menaye Charity Organization in the same year. We raised funds to assist and care for children affected and infected with the deadly disease HIV in Ghana, Africa. In 2007, we decided to take over an existing school, which was founded by my parents in the Central Region of Ghana at Agona Asafo. The school runs from Kindergarten to the Junior High level. Since then I have solely funded this school, and can proudly say that we have indeed made the difference in the lives of many of the children who would, under the normal circumstances not have access to quality education. Prior to Menaye Charity Organization adopting the Menaye School of Hope at Agona Asafo, graduation from the junior high level was low with extremely low marks. Today, we can happily say that we have a 100% pass rate to Senior High level, and further unto the university level. www.menaye.com

Belle Anna ISA beautiful super yacht ISA - International Shipyards Ancona delivered the 50m (164ft) motor yacht BELLE ANNA last July 2012. Belle Anna which has been developed from the platform ISA 50m CLASSIC has been customized to respond to the wish of a very demanding ISA’s client looking for a vessel offering big volumes without compromising the good design and comfort. She is the third in a series of three new 50m yachts built by ISA. The three yachts in the 50m series share the same technical platform but differ in their superstructure and transom design. Architect Andrea Vallicelli, in collaboration with ISA's in-house naval architects, designed Belle Anna to be a sophisticated displacement yacht.

Huge volumes, great performance and low consumption are the main features of this excellent platform. The result is a modern, sporty yacht with an elegant stern which is enriched by a versatile beach area accessed from the swim platform by two wide curved glass doors. While the slender bow lends her an aggressive look, the transom accessible by open stairs is wonderfully and elegantly shaped to leave space to a magnificent beach lounge opening to the swim platform through two large curved sliding glass doors and forming an important beach
area: this is the ideal place for the owners and their guests to enjoy the sea in total relaxation and privacy. The owner’s privacy in this beach area is ensured also by the clever idea of making the operation of the garage tender possible through a convenient hull side hatch located forward of this area. A master cabin plus 5 guest cabins allow 12 guests to comfortably enjoy Belle Anna, cared for by 10 crew. The interior design of this project is signed by Zuretti Interior Design. “The Owners wanted to give a personal
interpretation of a classic interior. The first sketches developed classic wood panelling in solid mahogany; mouldings and marquetry inlays were abandoned. The final orientation gave way to a more Art Deco atmosphere with inlays on panels and dado rails in metal (chrome in guest area, bronze in Owners and Receptions areas). We have developed all the pallets of a luxurious decoration without being ostentatious and transcribe the creativity of the Owners who were very much involved in this achievement - François Zuretti”. The naval architecture
is done in-house by ISA’s skilled team of engineers. The maximum speed of 17 knots and the cruising speed of 14.5 knots are comfortably achieved with the two Caterpillar engines 3512C developing a maximum power of 2400 Hp each and allowing for a phenomenal range of 2500nm at cruising speed and 4750nm at 11 knots. It is also worth noting her fuel consumption which is of 328 litres per hour at 14 knots. When you realise that the gross tonnage of the yacht is 498 tonnes the figures look pretty effective. A pair of Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers guarantees a

smooth navigation in the most severe conditions and a comfortable stay at anchor. “When we were ready to have our new yacht built we checked around with current owners of ISA Yachts and got nothing but glowing praise about the quality and professionalism of ISA Yachts. We were especially pleased to hear stories about the personal relationships that ISA had developed with its clients. As soon as the work on the yacht began we had the feeling that our choice of ISA was correct. Our yacht was delivered on the contracted date, 15.07.2012 at 12pm at the Ancona Shipyard. It was the beginning of our first wonderful vacation on this yacht and we were satisfied not only with exterior look, but with interior design also. We are confident that our yacht will continue to bring us true delight! - Owners Belle Anna.

Creazioni...the language of style Custom-made luxury furniture Elegance with high quality materials and attention to detail this is the strength of two brands, Silik and Creazioni, but with only one story. The Creazioni brand was the result of a dressed up past style, superior period furniture with unrivalled glamour. A combination of different textured fabrics and colours, with a modern and innovative touch. The bright idea of Cristina Gattei, CEO of Silik and creator of

Creazioni, is to supply the international market with unexpected high-level products for adults but especially for kids. New custom-made products, luxury high quality made in Italy, for a demanding clientele, who want to have prestigious timeless furniture made with unusual material and interesting finishes. Extraordinary designs from old palaces and charming villas are reproduced for today’s finest homes. The unusual shapes, the contrasts of bright colours, and the bold combinations of materials are always governed by the highest craftsmanship to create a kaleidoscope of styles and atmospheres that reinvent the space with creativity and irony,
offering not just the furniture of the past-revisited, but also contemporary design pieces. The Creazioni brand name signifies the capacity of expressing themselves through creativity. In fact that was the idea behind it, when Cristina in 1997 launched this brand. However, her great passion is barely visible, as she is a very calm person, but when she talks of her products, describing the techniques they use to make these charming items of furniture, the materials and, how she personally chooses the fabrics and mixes the colours, you can see the love she possesses for her job. She exudes all her strength, her ideas and exquisite taste for interior design which is so evident in her creations.

GILBERT & GEORGE ART ART EXHIBITION JUNE 14 - NOVEMBER 2, 2014 Monaco

Gilbert & George - OUR - 1988
Since first meeting at St Martin’s School of Art, London, in 1967, Gilbert & George have lived and worked together as one single and fiercely independent artist, dedicated solely to the creation of their art. They have no allegiance to any other trend, school, movement, doctrine, theory or style of art. Gilbert & George already knew that they were seeking a form of art that was to them entirely rooted in the real world - in the streets and clamor and traffic and buildings and hearts of strangers: an ‘Art For All’. Their art would be multiallusive reaching out to all of the mystery and passion and boredom and volatility of our modern urban world. Their subject was literally at their feet - along countless streets, the thoroughfares of the passage of millions of lives, and dense with the yearly thickening tracery of human existence. They would celebrate the lost world of Imperial and Commonwealth Britain, chasing down its ghosts on old postcards and in war memorials, music hall songs and Victorian architecture. All that was rejected or outlawed by the rigid dogma of contemporary art as they perceived it: their art would embrace all that was culturally and aesthetically homeless, and all who were actually homeless or unheeded, cast out, fallen through the cracks of life. And so for Gilbert & George, like the poet T. S. Eliot and the novelist Charles Dickens before them, the

dark swell of London’s ocean of humanity would offer a subject that was at once local and universal, brutally real yet ceaselessly animated by instances of visionary epiphany. Gilbert & George Art Exhibition at NMNM-Villa Paloma is an unmissable occasion to see Gilbert & George showing this unique collection of their art. A fully illustrated publication of approximately 140 pages coedited by NMNM and Skira Editore, Milano is available.

ANDALUCIA: A THOUSAND YEAR HISTORY OF A CROSSROADS OF CULTURE Malaga, capital of the well-known Costa del Sol, has been for many years the relaxing getaway for the English, Germans and Russians
Located in the southern-most part of the Iberian peninsula, exactly where North Africa and Europe come incredibly close at a distance of just 13km, Andalucia is the first Spanish autonomous community by population and the second by its sheer territorial expanse. Even though it is very vast region, it is still possible to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and its nature, which changes from place to place however close they may be, it is enough to say that an hour and a half by car from the sunny beaches of Torremolinos are the

arty cities of Ronda and Granada, which in turn are 3000 metres from Sierra Nevada, where among other competitions, the alpine ski championship of 1996 were held. The Andalucian collective imagination recalls an ambience to say the least fairytale-like in which storks nestle in the bell-towers, where the countryside is dominated by an intense light which radiates on the ancient, yet majestic olive trees and the charming pueblos blancos completely whitewashed by lime, sheltered upon high on a rock. However, Andalucia is much more than this! It is a land with a rich history in which peoples and cultures have both come together and clashed, giving rise to a happy melting pot,

right by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean is the very spot where the mysterious Pillars of Hercules can be found. In Roman times the area was the birthplace of the philosopher Seneca, as well as emperors, Hadrian and Trajan, but it was surely during the Arab Caliphate, which lasted approximately four centuries, that the region saw the development of one of most evolved civilisations in Southern Europe, in terms of cultural and linguistic significance but above all awesome architectural significance with the building of architectural greats such as Alhambra y Generalife in Granada, the Mezquita in C贸rdoba and the Giralda in Seville.

These constructions survived much in the same way as Christianity and are undoubtedly among the most beautiful and most visited buildings throughout the world. It also happens to be the land of pines of the sierra, with which in the XV century they were cleverly able to construct the infamous Ni帽a e Pinta, the ships with which Columbus set sail and managed to break any records of his day, conquering America. Lastly, how could one forget the oldest and most popular spectacle of Spain: bullfighting. It is in this that the true spirit of a fearless population who have always enjoyed taking risks shine through.

It is not a sport, but a ritual that exercises an irresistible and profound attraction for many, whether as an Andalucian or as a tourist, filling the arena to excitedly participate in the challenge between man and the forces of nature incarnate in the bull. A touristy region so vast and diverse in the summer seasons with more than half of visitors to the area land in the areas of Malaga and the Costa del Sol, which have for many years been the getaway retreats of thousands of English, German and Russians. The region is easily inferable given that any other destination would find it hard to guarantee 320 days of sunshine a year, with winter temperatures never falling below 14째C. The city of Malaga is situated directly in the centre of some 160km of beaches, resorts, golf clubs,

accommodation and facilities, separating the west coast which stretches to Estepona in the west and Nerja in the east, made famous for its legacy of caving: the Cuevas are revered as having the longest stalactites of Europe. The larger cities of Malaga reveal its original identity in the part of the bay defined by the shores of the Guadalmedina and the hills of the Gibralfaro on whose slopes rise the ominous castle. From here a system of defensive walls descend sharply encircling Alcazaba, the ancient residence of the Arabic governors, which has today been transformed into an interesting archaelogical museum. Doubtless it is from this system of fortification one can enjoy an inclusive, enchanting panorama of Malaga, with a close-up of the Parque, which with its lush, thriving tropical vegetation, interspersed with fountains and huts in azulejos, making for the most beautiful kilometre of the seashore in the Andalucian city. the modern district which leads onto a cleverly, jutting peninsula, in which the famous Plaza de toros, in neomudÊjar style, in summer is packed full with the thrilling spectacle of flamenco dancing, together with songs to the sounds of the guitar and the clapping of hands all coming together to produce a melancholic and passionate rhythm. Malaga’s International renown is nevertheless thanks to its most illustrious son, Pablo Picasso, to whom a prestigious museum is dedicated in the sixteenth-century Palacio de los Condes de Buenavista, which houses 285 works of art by the artist. Strangely enough, it is situated just a few hundred metres from his birth home, the gallery satisfies the personal wish of Picasso to exhibit his works in the city of his birth on 25 October 1881. A little on from ten years of the institution exhibiting, another ambitious project is due to be completed. On the top: Arcos de la Frontera At the bottom: typical palm trees of Andalusian promenade
In fact within by 2015 in the vicinity of the port of Malaga, in a soaring modernist construction similar to a glass cube, the doors will open to a separate branch of the Centre Georges Pompidou of Paris. In such a way Malaga, already well-known as a seaside haunt, is preparing itself to become a leader in Spanish museum tourism. In contention for the title of capital of tourism in the Costa del Sol is the nearby Marbella, a former fishing village that today accommodates some of the most important International fashion houses among its boutiques. Besides being the heart of the night life in the Costa, it is a favourite hotspot for VIPs; including royalty and those in show business. In fact the luxurious complex of Puerto BanĂşs is classified fourth among tourist ports for its high cost of mooring, overtaken only by Marina Grande di Capri, Porto Cervo and Portofino.
