About Us

MYREI is a real estate development company based in Lisbon, founded by Marc & Anuska Frey, Swiss citizens, residing in Portugal. Our focus are signature residential developments and retirement living residences. We bring a wealth of experience to Portugal from living and developing lifestyle communities in the USA. Together with our trusted network of local industry experts we are prepared to execute developments from start to finish. MYREI is a member of APPII (Portuguese Association of Investors and Real Estate Promoters).

MYREI Strategy

Focus on two asset classes: Lifestyle Residential Real Estate

Developments and Retirement Living Communities. These two asset classes will continue to grow for the next decade in Portugal, due to the demand from wealthy baby boomers from Europe, USA and Brazil. It also corresponds with our particular strength and past experience.

Focus on two regions: 1 hour radius South of Lisbon (Alcácer do Sal, Setubal Peninsula, Alcochete etc.) and East Algarve (from Faro to the Spanish border). These two regions are less overbuilt making it a good time for a developer to enter the market. We believe that the real estate values will increase over the next decade.

Research and Analytics:

The presented projects are the result of extensive research conducted over two years. We visited and researched more than 40 potential projects across all regions of Portugal.

We studied 6 asset classes: student housing, hotels, eco-resorts, branded residences, serviced apartments and retirement living. We interviewed dozens of developers and subject experts, to learn from their experiences and attended industry conferences including: MIPIM in Cannes, Salâo Imobiliário Lisboa, Portugal Real Estate Summit, APPII and WTC conferences.

Projects are evaluated by 9 criteria: location, geography, price to value ratio, legal and financial terms, construction licensing, a clear vision for the project, competitive advantages, market conditions and a strong local real estate brokerage partner.

Prior Real Estate Experience

Overseeing the 20 million CHF Fr. repurposing of a printing house (Berichthaus AG) in the historic part of Zurich into a multi-use facility, including apartments, a large health club and Class A office space.

The successful launch of King Valley, a private 18-hole golf club north of Toronto, Canada, combining the talents of US Open champion Curtis Strange and renowned architect Doug Carrick into a legendary masterpiece.

Developing a 1000-home master planned community, from land purchase to finish, near Pittsburgh, USA: Treesdale Golf & Country Club is nestled on 1400 rolling acres, centered around a 27 hole Arnold Palmer golf course, club house and recreational facilities.

Curriculum Vitae

Marc was born in Zurich. He earned his B.A. in business administration and completed his military service in Switzerland. While living in Paris for 3 years, he worked at Publicis, the world’s largest advertising agency. He received his international MBA in California. Upon his return to Switzerland, he was appointed CEO of Jean Frey AG, a publishing and printing company with more than 1,200 employees. After a successful turn-around, the company became part of a larger holding company, that went public. Subsequently he worked in investment banking, before pursuing his own entrepreneurial path in the USA. While living in Hilton Head Island, SC, USA, Marc first worked with Charles Fraser (founder of Sea Pines Country Club and the PGA Heritage Classic golf tournament), before launching “Golfer’s Guide”, growing it into the leading golf course marketing company serving 1000+ clients across North America. Marc was part of the “Mayor’s Vision Task Force”, responsible for defining the future growth path for the town of Hilton Head

MYREI Advisory Board

Anuska was born in Slovenia, where she finished a degree in nursing. She moved to Switzerland to apply her skills in the emergency and intensive care units of several hospitals in Zurich. She speaks six languages. After a semester in foreign policy, she switched careers and became the administrative assistant to the Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Finance at the renown IMI (International Management Institute) in Geneva (now IMD, Lausanne).

Following their marriage Marc and Anuska moved to the USA with their two sons Fabio and Marco. Anuska became the publisher of the leading regional lifestyle magazine and a licensed US Realtor, involved in remodeling and selling several luxury properties.

The role of the advisory board:

The advisory board serves as an independent voice to approve the managements strategic and financial options. The two elected members are well qualified to judge the risks and rewards of important decisions. Together they cover the legal and project management side of real estate developments in Portugal.

Filipe Eusebio is the executive partner at the prestigious Ana Bruno and Associates law firm in Lisbon. He has 20 years of experience in the field of real estate, corporate matters and international investment law. He has been advising MYREI since its inception in 2022.

Hotel & Real Estate - Investment & Asset Management Advisory

Jorge Catarino has more than 25 years hands on experience in the hospitality and real estate industry in leading executive roles. In 2016 he founded his own consulting practice focusing on asset management and investment advisory. His clients include the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon and Monte Rei Golf & Country Club, Algarve.

The role of the fund manager:

Working with a licensed Fund Manager with a wealth of real estate experience has three main advantages: third party accounting and auditing, objective board and a tax optimized legal structure (SIC).
