Pontoon is when the first two cards dealt to the Player consist of an Ace and a Jack, Queen, or King. To win, the Player’s total must be greater than the Dealer’s total, but does not exceed 21. 1. Double Down: After the Player receives his first two cards, the Player may bet an additional amount equal to or less than his original bet (but not less than the table minimum). When the Player doubles, the Player receives only one additional card. If the doubled hand is less than 21, the Player may elect to forfeit his hand to retrieve his doubled portion of the payment, and then the Dealer will remove the original wager and the cards. 2. Split/Splitting Pairs: if the Player’s first two cards are of the same face value, then the Player may split them into two hands. The bet on each hand must be equal. If the split is Aces, then the Player receives one card on each Ace. The Player cannot achieve Pontoon with split hands/pairs. 3. Super Bonus: this is the exciting feature of Pontoon. If the Player has 7, 7, 7 of the same suit and the Dealer’s first card is a 7 of any suit, the Player wins a Super Bonus payment and all the other Players on the table receives a bonus too. Split or doubled hands are not eligible for the Super Bonus. 4. A hand of Pontoon or a point total is paid immediately. 5. If the Player’s total is the same as the Dealer’s then the result is a standoff, except for a hand of Pontoon or a point total of 21. 6. If the Player’s total is over 21 or less than the Dealer’s the Player loses or busts. 7. If the Player has a soft total of 17 or less, then the Dealer draws a card. 8. If the Player’s total is hard 17 or more, then the Dealer stands. 9. If the Player’s total is 21, then the Player does not take another card. 10. The Player may stand on any total. 11. The amount a Player can win depends on the cards the Player deals as each hand has different payment odds. 12. When the first two cards of the Player is Pontoon (ex., King, Queen, or Jack + Ace), the Player is paid 3 to 2 immediately, regardless of the Dealer’s first card.
