Product Marketing Manager

EMEA Trina Solar

"Trina Solar has placed themselves in the best position by providing a full range of P-type and N-type modules suitable for any application and requirement, as well as their extensive experience with larger cell sizes, which is now being followed by the industry."

Key Highlights

Our N-type modules are specifically designed to provide the highest levels of feasibility in all aspects, including LCOE and BOS savings, and compatibility with inverters, trackers, and fixed-tilt structures

So far, we have delivered and installed more than 1GW of N-Type modules globally Additionally, we have installed approximately 120MW in the region as proof of the high performance of these modules in areas with arid environments such as harsh temperatures, coastal areas, and high humidity

QWhat are the advantages of ntype (TOPCon) technology?

Trina Solar was one of the first manufacturers to begin research and development on TOPcon technology (N-Type) In fact, we were among the very first to initiate projects using this new and efficient technology in China, starting in 2018

Generally, N-type is a type of solar cell technology that uses a different type of silicon doping than traditional solar cells To name only a few benefits of TOPCon technology:

Higher efficiency: N-type solar cells have higher efficiency compared to traditional P-type solar cells, which means they can convert more sunlight into electricity

Higher resistance to degradation: N-type solar cells are less susceptible to degradation from impurities and environmental factors, making them more durable and longer-lasting

Lower temperature coefficient: N-type solar cells have a lower temperature coefficient, which means they generate more electricity in higher temperatures than traditional P-type solar cells

Higher power output: Due to their higher efficiency and durability, N-type solar cells can generate more power output per panel, which can be especially advantageous in smaller installations where space is limited Lower light-induced degradation: N-type solar cells have a lower rate of lightinduced degradation, which means they can maintain their efficiency over a longer period of time

Overall, the advantages of N-type technology in solar panels include higher efficiency, greater durability, higher resistance to degradation, and increased power output These benefits can result in a more reliable and cost-effective solar power system for consumers

QWhat are some standout features of 210 Vertex N modules?

Trina Solar is a highly experienced PV manufacturer in N-type technology, offering an extensive range of products suitable for any project Our full black N-type product, for example, is 100% compatible with residential applications (rooftop/ground-mounted), thanks to its perfect physical dimensions, power range (up to 445W), efficiency (up to 22 3%), and other electrical specifications This module is also offered with an unprecedented 15-year product warranty and 30-year power warranty for customers' peace of mind

Our N-type modules are specifically designed to provide the highest levels of feasibility in all aspects, including LCOE and BOS savings, and compatibility with inverters, trackers, and fixed-tilt structures Trina Solar’s 19R series modules are designed for C&I and Utility sectors, offer up to 605W of power and 22.4% efficiency, making them one of the most optimum electrical characteristics in this range High bifaciality, low power degradation, and excellent temperature coefficient are just a few of the reasons why these modules are popular

Additionally, as the most powerful Topcon module in the industry, Trina Solar’s 21 series modules are achieving up to 695W with 22 4% efficiency This provides the greatest ROI for developers, EPCs, and end-users Another important feature of our N-type modules is their high mechanical performance and reliability, thanks to dual glass construction They are less prone to micro-cracks and scratches on the back during installation and offer excellent fire ratings, weather resistance, salt spray, sand dust, and ammonia resistance, making them ideal for harsh environments with high humidity and temperature

QCould you highlight some projects where 210 Vertex N modules have been installed globally and in the region?

It is fair to say that Trina Solar is one of the few PV manufacturers that have delivered a good number of N-type modules, both in the MENA region and globally Thanks to our customers' trust, we have had the opportunity to deliver and install TOPCon modules in different parts of the world, with varying characteristics

So far, we have delivered and installed more than 1GW of N-Type modules globally Additionally, we have installed approximately 120MW in the region as proof of the high performance of these modules in areas with arid environments such as harsh temperatures, coastal areas, and high humidity

Unfortunately, I am not able to disclose more information about some of these projects at this stage However, my team at Trina Solar would be happy to provide additional details on some of the projects For example, the 250MW project completed in Tongchuan, China is a particularly interesting case study of the technical characteristics of this technology

QCan we look forward to more product launches from Trina Solar this year?

Trina Solar is known for its innovation, commitment to technology development, and dedication to sustainability, making it a leading player in the solar energy industry Our close relationships with universities, technical consultants, and significant investment in R&D have enabled us to stay at the forefront of technology advancements and improvements

Currently, we are working on some interesting and beneficial technologies on our roadmap to provide and improve customer value Although I cannot reveal any details about new product launches, I encourage you to stay tuned for exciting news in the near future as well as their extensive experience with larger cell sizes, which is now being followed by the industry."

QWhat

according to you will be the module technology trend this year?

I believe TOPCon will be a hot topic this year, especially for larger commercial and utility projects However, for smaller projects, P-type technology (PERC) will remain the popular choice due to its lower CAPAX compared to N-type

On another topic, we are pleased to see that other PV manufacturers are also intending to use larger cell sizes This is the exact trend we, at Trina Solar, foresaw since 2020, making us the most experienced manufacturer in this area

In summary, I am very optimistic about the way the renewable industry is moving, especially in the MENA region This creates opportunities for PV manufacturers such as Trina Solar to stand out from the crowd Trina Solar has placed themselves in the best position by providing a full range of P-type and N-type modules suitable for any application and requirement, as well as their extensive experience with larger cell sizes, which is now being followed by the industry.
