WORLD’S LARGEST SOLAR + STORAGE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT
WITH 2 GIGAWATTS OF POWER, THE SANDSTONE PROJECT IS THE SAME SCALE AS THE HOOVER DAM.
This significant infrastructure project will create 40,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs across America.
Billions of dollars of equipment and materials will be U.S. manufactured.
◄ SolarReserve’s Crescent Dunes project in Nevada, currently in commercial operation, is 110 MW with 10 hours of full-load storage in molten salt, which results in 1,100 MWh of energy storage. The molten salt storage technology has no degradation or replacement costs for the life of the project (30-40 years or longer).

7 MILLION MEGAWATT-HOURS ANNUALLY; NON-INTERMITTENT SOLAR POWER, AVAILABLE 24/7 The Sandstone project will be a solar complex with up to ten solar thermal towers, using the next generation of SolarReserve’s 24/7 ThermaVault™ solar technology. The facility will deliver in total 2,000 megawatts of power capacity, 20,000 megawatt-hours of energy storage capability, and 7,000,000 megawatt-hours of annual output – generating when energy is most valuable, reducing cost and risk for electricity rate payers.

BENEFITS FOR THE U.S. ECONOMY BRINGING BACK AMERICAN JOBS TO THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR The project will provide an enormous opportunity for U.S. content: • Equipment and services will be procured nationwide • Over 150 million square feet of glass will be U.S. sourced • Assembly of over 150,000 heliostats (tracking mirror assemblies) will be completed in an on-site manufacturing facility that employs local workers • Over a million cubic yards of concrete required for the project will be provided by local concrete suppliers • Over 20,000 tons of structural steel will be U.S. sourced as will most of the piping, cabling, and valves • The molten salt receivers will be manufactured in a high-tech facility in the U.S.
JOB GROWTH Such an immense infrastructure project would be a boon to the U.S. economy: • 3,000 construction jobs for the 7-year, multi-phase project • Approximately 40,000 direct, indirect, and induced jobs across America • More than $5 billion of capital investment, without the need for any special subsidies • 350 permanent, high-value operational jobs on site for 30 years or more • More than $100 million per year paid in salaries and operating costs • Over $600 million in total tax revenues through the first 20 years of operation — supporting local municipalities, school systems, and police and fire departments
RELIABLE, AFFORDABLE, RENEWABLE POWER
3,000
CONSTRUCTION JOBS
At this scale, solar thermal plants with energy storage are competitive with natural gas power plants, and just as reliable during peak periods. The technology’s storage ability enables Sandstone to offer dispatchability, reliable capacity, ancillary services, and wholesale price stability similar to traditional fossil-fired power stations, but from a clean, renewable, and infinite energy resource for the facility’s 40+ year life.
40,000
DIRECT, INDIRECT, AND INDUCED JOBS
The fully dispatchable energy generation plus energy storage: • Is competitive on pricing against the market, without the need for any special subsidies • Is less expensive than solar PV plus batteries • Is less expensive than solar PV plus natural gas peaker plants

PROVEN U.S. TECHNOLOGY H
SolarReserve is a U.S. company with dispatchable solar technology that demonstrates American innovation. This proprietary technology has been successfully commercialized at the company’s flagship Crescent Dunes project in Tonopah, Nevada, a 110 megawatt utility-scale solar power plant with 1,100 megawatt hours of fully integrated energy storage.

AMERICAN INNOVATION
Dispatchable, non-intermittent, steady power delivery: Above is an actual graph of a typical day of operation at SolarReserve’s Crescent Dunes facility in Nevada.
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED & MADE IN THE USA
• The yellow is sunshine, the blue is the sun’s thermal energy that is collected (in molten salt) and the green is power delivery. • The power is a steady line, which extends past sunset. Even on a very cloudy day, where sunlight is intermittent, the power delivery curve looks the same: steady power delivered to the grid during peak demand periods which extend into the evening hours. No need to fire up peaker plants. Baseload solar plants such as Crescent Dunes can shift their steady power delivery around, and be dispatched as the utility requires – including support for 24-hour operations.

Conventional Steam Power Generation
1. Sunlight is concentrated and directed from a large field of heliostats to a receiver on a tall concrete tower 2. Liquid salt from the cold salt tank is pumped through the receiver where it is heated to 1050 °F (566 °C) 3. The heated salt from the receiver is stored in the hot salt tank 4. H ot salt is pumped from the hot salt tank through a steam generator to create steam, which drives a steam turbine, generating electricity 5. Condensed steam from the steam turbine is recirculated for reuse
