New Year New You As 2019 approaches closer and closer, many will start the fresh days of January making incredible goals that can and will somehow improve the person. One goal many forget to make is a change in attitude: positivity! In recent years, the conversation of mental health has grown as more individuals come forward to speak of their mental struggles and challenges. With societal expectations and the popularity of social media, it’s no secret that these factors unintentionally affect the minds of many. These affects lead to anxiety, depression, lower self-confidence, and ultimately unhappiness. The brain is a very complex organ that needs to properly be taken care as much as any other part of the body in order to stay healthy and strong! This can be done through various practices that are not only simple, but also quite effective. Here are 5 things that can easily be done to
gain more optimism in your life. 1. Meditation. As you wake up to start your day, it is important to take a couple minutes of your time to relax your muscles and mind with some easy stretches and mediation. This will prepare you for the day ahead and it will bring relaxation to your mind and your body. 2. Planning Ahead.
Being organized is a great way to
stay focused. This is a key concept that will avoid any stress that will build from procrastination important tasks. 3. Unbothered A.F.
Of course, with work, school, any
human interaction, etc. not all days will go as smoothly. Some factors will challenge you, as they will cause irritation, anger, sadness, or any other natural emotion that can interrupt a peaceful day. It is important to not let this things get to you and ruin your energy.

be achieved through anything that will make you happy whether it is running, sketching, face masking, cooking, etc. You do you! 5. Journaling
As goofy as it may sound to keep
track of a journal, it has been proven to truly cleanse one’s mind of toxicity and to keep track of one’s goals. Journaling is a great therapeutic method that can be self-achieved. There no real way to journal or any rules, which is the best part. Whatever comes to mind is what you journal, but it is important to journal the good and the bad parts of life to remember that there will always be good and bad- but it’s what you take out from your experiences. It is also important to jot down your personal goals, and to remember a couple of things that have made youfeel thankful throughout your day.

Rise and Shine beautiful Glitter has definitely made its presence known in 2018, showcasing dynamic versatility and wearability. But, some have voiced their disdain for the trend stating that it should be left back at Coachella. Makeup artists have proven otherwise, from the coveted Pat McGrath Labs Mothership pallets to Stila’s Dazzling Liquid eye shadows, they give their take on the sparkly maquillage trend, but for grownups.
There is no definitive way to wear this trend, from rhinestones, to colorful glitter, or for the faint of heart, a light dusting of twinkling shadow which also does justice. The days of chunky and abhorrent body and face glitter are gone, with different makeup brands refining the glitter to a more sophisticated, no fall-out consistency and with colors that would please Rainbow Bright herself. One can wear this trend anywhere on the body, the lips, the nails, the eyes or even on the cheekbones for an extra added highlight.

No matter what personality or even what time of year, glitter can either be the star of a makeup look or it can just add little gusto to a more down played one.

For women on the go who love makeup and don’t have time for youtube videos, books can be your best friend, for there is truly nothing like a good read. The greatest makeup artists in the world have easy “master class” status books, ones that anyone can get their hands on. Whether in an uber or on a subway, reawaken the love of books, not to mention hand held art pieces that would look good on any coffee table.

Being Body Positive By Mishka Khan
As beauty standards advance through time and society, many of us find ourselves constantly insecure about the way we look. It is one thing to want to improve yourself for yourself, but in most cases we find ourselves trying to compete with other women on Instagram. Many years ago, when social media was less advanced than it is now, many women were proud of being different shapes and sizes. For instance, Aubrey Hepburn can be seen as a little bit slimmer while Marilyn Monroe is considered a bit curvier. The two were and still are seen as some of the most beautiful women in history. So why do we constantly crave the same features we see? The reality is, some of us will be slightly slimmer or slightly curvier than others. This can simply be a factor due to genetics. You have to work with what you’ve got and for yourself! Being body positive is so important in today’s society because women have been constantly conditioned to look a certain way for centuries- especially now. With cosmetic surgeries on
The best way to achieve this is not through extreme practices, but it’s through balancing your lifestyle out. Change takes time and if you want to achieve it, you have to be patient but progressive! If there is a certain feature that you simply just can’t change, be proud because it’s what makes you different from everybody else! Be proud and loving of yourself because being body positive is just another factor to your confidence and that plays a huge role in how you carry yourself.

RUNWAY S/S ‘19 America’s Nostalgia for the late 90’s and early 2000’s fashion trends have won over the glazed eyes that once were thankful for the quick misrecollection. From midriffs, bicycle shorts to bucket hats, and yes, you read correctly, bucket hats have all made a fierce comeback. From Ja Rule in the late 90’s to models at Anna Sui’s Spring 2019 ready-to-wear fashion show, bucket hats were enhanced with floral prints ranging in pastel pinks to bright greens on blacks. They were paired with sheer coverups over swim suits, to frill adorned dresses. Whether it looked chic on the Amazonian models, or not, would have to be based upon one’s own humble opinion, but let the wary appreciate the new take on this “classic”. Another trend that has made its way back into our closets are the bicycle shorts. Now, this might not come as a shock,
as we have all seen Kim Kardashian sporting them for quite some time this past year, building up designers’ imaginations as to what version of the bicycle shorts they would want to showcase. So, as anticipated, the Spring 2019 runway did not disappoint. Chanel models strutted in black bicycle shorts paired with a sporty take on a classic black blazer that we all know and love. At the Fendi 2019 Spring/Summer show, bicycle shorts were coupled with oversized button downs and heels, making the look more clean and polished as opposed to sporty or laid back. The Spring/Summer 2019 readyto-wear runways excited with bright colors and prints; ranging from haughty hues of pinks and fiery reds and oranges at the Escada fashion show, to geometric prints by Roksanda. This trend is evoking as Spring is always accompanied by floral prints and

and blush pinks that usually spill over to the summer months. But for this upcoming year, bright sunset colors are all the rage, and rightfully so. With the “oh so serious attitude that floats through the air, it is refreshing to see designers be playful and have fun, not to mention bring
back the long-awaited tropic feel of summer once again.

Athleisure has transcended the fashion world, becoming an ultimate staple in collections that walked the 2019 runway shows. Bike shorts as a sartorial statement that can be traced back to the mid-90’s and are seen to be making a huge comeback in 2019, both on the runway and everywhere else. Still not convinced? O
ver the last few years, fashionable sneakers have become a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. It has taken some of us longer than others to embrace this trend, but with so many options it is hard to find something that will work for your personal style and lifestyle. The female sneaker culture is growing bigger and bigger and it’s really refreshing to see other girls out there showing their collections and their love for kicks. The new year is bringing out a lot more fashionable sneakers for whatever style you may have. We all used to be “That Girl”, you know, the one who thought high heels were the only “fashionable” shoe. It took, oh, about fifteen plus years of blisters and aching toes before women finally started realizing how ridiculous they were being. There’s nothing stylish about slotthing it behind everyone because the pumps you’ve been wearing since 8 a.m. are slicing into your ankles and toes like some “Freddy vs. Jason”horror scene. Don’t get me wrong, heels are sexy, but sneakers, they’re a godsend. Now that we have finally embraced the sneaker, our feet have never been happier. The right pair of sneakers can look amazing with so many different and versatile looks, from dresses to skirts to trousers to even joggers. Doesn’t matter what your style is, a sneaker can fit into your wardrobe.

KERS 34
Best of all, they save you from a world of hurt and pain. Now, what constitues a “stylish” sneaker will all depend on your individual style and how daring you are as a stylish woman. But, by and large, the options of sneakers are endless and are easy to wear with many different outfits, they are comfortable enough to commute in as well as stylish enough to bring together an outfit. We all love flamin’ hot cheetos, but no one loves flamin’ hot blisters!

LOVE & RELATIONSHIPS Soulmate alert! Lucky Jupiter in your twelfth house of divine love and karma could bring a kindred spirit into your realm. You may also transition out of a relationship you’ve outgrown or reach new levels of depth and transparency with a longtime love. With experimental Uranus in your lusty and flamboyant fifth house, that “freaky streak” could come out to play. But with stern Saturn in your sign all year, you’ll still need to keep firm boundaries and make smart long-term choices. The July 2 Cancer solar eclipse lights a wildfire in your committed relationship zone, giving you the urge to merge when you least expect it! MONEY & CAREER Time for a brand-new approach? Structured Saturn and transformational Pluto team up with three tide-turning eclipses in Capricorn this year, which could totally reset your career trajectory. Once adventurous Jupiter leaps into the Capricorn confab this December, you could be ready to take concrete actions on a solo project or to pursue a path that brings new levels of status and responsibility. A rare double-header of Libra full moons in March and April infuse your professional sector with passion and purpose. HEALTH & WELLNESS Slow down and tune in, Capricorn. With growth- driven Jupiter in your healing twelfth house, some deep inner work could be in order this year. While you may shed a few tears or (finally) process some old wounds, you’ll emerge shimmering from the inside out. Anchoring Saturn is also in Capricorn all year, slowing your roll. The fluid pace will give you time to find your groove without the stultifying pressure. FAMILY & FRIENDS Peace at Chateau Cap—at last? Disruptive Uranus ends an eight-year run through your domestic zone this March, helping you finally put down roots or get back in sync with your relatives. A female family member, perhaps your mother or a child, may have been especially tough to get along with. With Jupiter in your twelfth house of surrender, you’ll learn to accept the things (and people!) you can’t change. Give up trying to save them and opt for serenity! With a pileup of planets in Capricorn all year, focusing on your own dreams instead of other people’s problems will be life-changing.
Gift guide for your loved Capricorns If you’re trying to find Capricorn gifts for a friend, or you’re practicing some self-love and shopping for yourself, you want to make sure that the present you get will help this inner Capricorn achieve success. Capricorns are super ambitious people, which is good, because they value hard work and determination. When shopping for a Capricorn, you need to look for things that are beautiful, functional, and simple. They usually spend a lot of time in their office, so anything that will help make their office more inviting would be a perfect option. They also love simple yet beautiful things, like a dainty piece of jewelry or even just a simple comfy sweater. Capricorns also love blingy things, as they can be materialistic as times, but that’s a good thing because you know your Umbra Gala Photo Disgift won’t go to waste. play, $20, Amazon
