BACKGROUND While Maxim Planning Solutions’ head office is based in Klerksdorp, in the City of Matlosana, it also has a foothold in Rustenburg, a fast-growing city on account of the region’s burgeoning platinum industry. Due to our increased involvement in projects within the Gauteng Province and rapidly expanding client base within this Province, we also recently established a branch office in Tshwane to serve the Gauteng area and surrounds. Following the advent of democracy in South Africa in 1994, the company embarked on a new era during 2002, marked by its name change to Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd and its commitment to embrace transformation in line with government’s vision of a new South Africa. Today, Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd is a fullyfledged B-BBEE company (Level 2 Contributor and Value Added Supplier), reflected in its shareholding ratio of 25.9% previously disadvantaged individuals.

At Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd we realize we cannot perform optimally without allowing staff members to reach their full potential. To this effect, personnel are afforded the opportunity to attend relevant courses, training sessions and workshops to truly enable them to perform core functions. Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd is furthermore assisting staff members as well as students in completing studies at tertiary and other learning institutions. Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd has partnered with North West University and Stellenbosch University in providing tutorials to the students of these tertiary institutions. Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd is also actively involved in community upliftment projects as part of our social responsibility program. Donations are also regularly made to schools, registered charity organizations and individuals in need. Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd has five (5) professionally registered Town and Regional Planners and one (1) registered Assistant Town and Regional Planner in its permanent employ. The fore-mentioned planners have in excess of 135 years experience in Town and Regional Planning and possess a wide spectrum of experience and expertise. At Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd we afford our staff the opportunity to specialize in specific fields of planning. A

ndrew Mbakaca joined Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd during 2000 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2004.

He was subsequently elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd during 2008 and is actively involved with daily operations and strategic planning of the company. He is fluent in 5 of the official languages, and when he is not at the office, Andrew and his wife Martha like to attend Jazz festivals and are actively involved with their church activities.

CHARL GROBBELAAR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

C

harl Grobbelaar completed his high school career at Klerksdorp High School. He enrolled at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (now North West University) and completed his Baccalaureus Artium et Scientiae (Planning) course during 1977. Charl joined Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd as Director in 1988 and was elected as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2008. He was one of the founding members of Metroplan Town and Regional Planners when it was established in 1998. Before he joined Metroplan Town and Regional Planners in 1998, Charl worked as a senior Town Planner at the Transvaal Provincial Administration, and he was Chief Town Planner at the Klerksdorp Municipality between 1984 and 1987. He is a member of the South African Institute for Planners (SAPI), the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN), the Association for Consulting Town and Regional Planners (ACTRP) and the South African Institute for Housing. In his spare time he can be found on the banks of a river or dam perfecting his flyfishing skills, or next to a fire at a camping site with his wife Marlene. 9

A

fter completing his matric in 1975 he enrolled at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (now North West University) in 1977.

After obtaining his Baccalaureus Artium et Scientiae (Planning) degree during 1980, he subsequently obtained his Masters Degree in 1987 (Cum Laude) and D. Phil. (Planning) in 1991. Dr. Bos joined Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd in 1999 as Director and is overseeing operations at the Rustenburg office of Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd. Before joining Maxim Planning Solutions, Dawie was employed by the North West University for 15 years as senior lecturer and associate professor. When Dawie is not at the office, he can be found on a canoe on a river or dam, or travelling around the world with his wife Elmarie and family.

KOOT RAUBENHEIMER CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

A

fter completing his matric at Wesvalia Secondary School (in Klerksdorp) in 1988, Koot enrolled at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (now North West University) in 1989. He was awarded the degree Baccalaureus Artium et Scientiae (Planning) Cum Laude during 1992. Koot was elected as a Director in 2007 and took on the responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer in 2009. He was employed by Metroplan Town and Regional Planners from 1992 to 2002 and also served on the Board of Directors of Metroplan Town and Regional Planners from 1998. He is primarily responsible for Land Use Management and specializes in land use applications and land use schemes. When he is not at the office, Koot and his wife Lizelle actively support their two children with their extracurricular activities especially mastering their chess skills or preparing projects for the annual Eskom Expo for Young Scientists.

J

ohannes Benadé finished his school career at Coligny High School in 1980.

He completed the Baccalaureus Artium et Scientiae (Planning) degree in 1984 at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (now North West University). He joined Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd in 2000 following a career at the former Department of Development Aid from 1985. During the period 1991 to 1996 he worked as Town Planner at the Newcastle Transitional Local Council. He was elected in 2014 to serve on the Board of Directors of Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd. When he is not at the office, he is farming with his father, or enjoying the fresh air on a stroll with his wife Petro.

I

n 2001 Ronelle completed her final school years in Christiana and started her Baccalaureus Artium et Scientiae (Planning) degree at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (now North West University). She obtained her degree in 2005 after which she joined Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd. She has been involved in a wide variety of town planning activities, but deals mostly with strategic planning. She was elected in 2014 to serve on the Board of Directors of Maxim Planning Solutions (Pty) Ltd. When she is not at the office, she can be found on her bicycle training with her husband Jacques, or playing mom to her two young children.
