Solihull Fairtrade Newsletter Fairtrade Fortnight Planning Special Get involved!! Fairtrade Fortnight 2015 is 21st Feb to 8th March 2015…. It might seem like there’s plenty of time to get organised… but it pays to start thinking early : ) This is a roundup of opportunities to get involved with… please read and if you think there is an opportunity for you to get involved, email agreenall@solihull.gov.uk Second Solihull Fairtrade Cake off at the Solihull Arts Complex – after last years success we are looking to hold another competition. We are looking for volunteers again, for both the run up and day and assistance with prizes and marketing. This years can be seen at - http://youtu.be/VnjEzxhvNL0 First North Solihull Fairtrade Cake Off – we’d like to take it to the north! We may have the venue, but need volunteers and support. We already have people wanting to enter!!

Street Art in the High Street – using chalk, we will inviting children and adults to help us paint a huge Fairtrade logo (?) on the pavement. This will be organised by a group of businesses lead by BB Boutique, and there is the possibility of many other activities. Support would be welcomed.

Solihull Fairtrade Fortnight Banners – the Soroptimists Lobby Group are looking to put up banners 10’ x 3’ in key locations letting people know that it is Fairtrade Fortnight 2015. Could you put a banner up? Sponsorship of £50 per banner.

Bromford Support will be organising Fairtrade Coffee mornings and art activities for their service users: they provide schemes for young families, people with learning disability, supported housing for older persons. Donations of ingredients and coffee morning stuff welcomed. Fairtrade Cake Bike … anyone wanting to get involved in ‘converting’ a smoothie bike to cake mix bike can have a chat with Solihull’s Public Health team and GroOrganic. They will be looking for a host and perhaps sposorship.

Fairtrade Art display – the Soroptimists are looking to get schools and other organisations involved. They would like a host to display the artwork, perhaps outside. Do you have some space that needs brightening up? Would you like to sponsor? Fairtrade (upcycled?) Fashion Show - want to get involved? Some interesting businesses want to get involved!

Others…. Lush Cosmetics are very keen to support.. they have many interesting and motivated staff with very creative skills and are looking for activities to get involved in.

Three Trees Community Centre – as a regular supporter of Fairtrade, they will be doing something. Olive branch café – again keen to get involved, no doubt could possibly host a small event. Waterstones Fairtrade display – this store continues its support for Fairtrade, and will be putting up a display. Other important partners are: The Gastrocard, Hampton Manor Hotel, Solihull Neighbourhoods Team. Media and Marketing Solihull Photographic Society –have offered support for the 3rd year. Twitter - @solihullftrade has over 1000 followers and last year reached over 100,000 through retweets. Facebook – volunteers needed to run this page! Birmingham Sport Radio have offered some air time to promote. talk to us on…. @solihullftrade
