My name is “Niloufar” (Pronunciation: NeE-LuFah-r), which means “Lotus Flower” in my mother tongue. You can also call me “Nilou”. I have always loved architecture and never given up on it. Tracking some of the well known designers’ educational path established the initial thought of studying landscape architecture. I found it quite essential to know more about sustainability or in other words, discovering some innovative design solutions to bring both the urban environment and nature back together. Therefore, to me it was time to fill the gap in my knowledge and pursue a degree in landscape architecture. I am very interested in Landscape Urbanism (LU) projects that engage architecture, landscape architecture, urban systems, ecology, green infrastructures, and art. P- 2

he original Osage Forest of Peace has been known as a spiritual place that people could stay at or visit to increase their understanding of different religions other than Christianity, while having a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life to focus on their relationship with God in heart of a peaceful forest. The main purpose of this project was to provide a new master plan identifying the best locations to orient the additional public or private cabins, improve the circulation and accessibility of the site, enhance the guest’s way-finding within the woods, provide more parking spots, add new amenities and improve the old ones like the existing Zen Garden. One of my significant ideas was to connect the four classical elements of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire to the forest in order to highlight the spiritual importance of them and to ease the way-finding for the guests.
OFP’S EARTH FOUNTAIN In general, water represents life, birth, fertility, and refreshment. I found a disconnection between the element of water and forest. Therefore, I tried to bring it back to the site by designing a water fountain in small scale to make the maintenance easy. The surface of water stands at the same level as the pathways in order to evoke a natural water source spouting from the earth. P- 5

REFLECTIVE MOON GATE
Reflective Moon Gate displays the element of Air. There is an existing, wooden, small and forlorn gate at the OFP, therefore, the material of the new gate has also been considered as wood. Furthermore, the signs of nine different religious will be carved on the top section of the gate to create some sort of shadows on the major passways while the sun shines.
Water Flow Direction Lost Tress Existing Trail Existing Infrastructures Proposed Infrastructures Proposed Topography Property Line
MOUNTAIN OF FIRE
The symbolic meaning of fire can vary widely depending on the context; it can be the symbol of pain, hell or inspiration. Also among all four, it is the only element that can be produced by humans. Thus, it bridges the connection between mortals and Gods. The idea of using fire in a forest does not seem to be wise. Instead, the Mountain of Fire has been designed to represent the element. It brightens up the entrance to the OFP’s new welcoming center at night, while providing a unique sculpture during the day time. P- 7
ZEN GARDEN In some philosophies, element of Earth is associated with the sensual aspects of both life and death. It is commonly seen as feminine, the great mother; nourishment, fertility, infinite creativity, and longevity. There is an existing Zen Garden at the Osage Forest of Peace that was redesigned to indicate the last element.

he city of Eufaula asked the landscape architecture students at OU to provide a master plan for the potential wetland site next to the Eufaula Lake locating nearby the intersection of G Street and Belt Avenue. The project contains two phases that the first phase has higher priority in comparison to the second one. This is mainly due to the city’s budget limitations in the process of construction.
EDUCATIONAL AREA
Our group’s main idea was to change the contour lines in order to create a natural drainage system that allows water to flow from PhaseI to PhaseII. The water drains from the highest point on the southern west end of the first area into PhaseII’s site via an existing pipe located perpendicular to G Street.

he city of Ohrid is located in the west side of the Republic of Macedonia, a small country in southeast Europe, located in the central Balkan Peninsula. The annual Ohrid Swimming Marathon takes place in Ohrid Lake. Many local and international swimmers travel from all over the world to represent their countries in this event. The OWC was proposed as a public sport facility center that is also equipped by an Olympic pool. It would have the potential to welcome and host the spectators, tourists, competitors, and their families, while it organizes and promotes all sorts of water activities related to the lake such as: windsurfing, rowing boats, canoes, and kayak.

his elementary school is designed as an academic center to educate male students between the ages of 7 to 12. The primary site has a gentle slope and is located in one of the northern neighborhoods in Tehran, Aghdasieh. It is comprised of four major segments: 1-Educational Section, 2-Office Zone, 3-Amphitheater, and 4-Indoor Sport Complex. The last two alluded ones have been planned to serve both the school and the surrounding communities after the official working hours. During the conceptual process, one of the main ideas was to create a central 8 sided polygon to be the representative of Persian traditional courtyards.

INTRODUCTION
It was a great pleasure working in a super professional and award winning firm like LSG Landscape Architecture in summer of 2018. I worked under the supervision of three (out of four) principals, the project managers, the senior associates, and the landscape designers. Working with each one of them was an exceptional experience, since they were extremely patient, educated, and eager to share their knowledge. As a summer intern, my major tasks were 3D modeling of several projects, providing perspectives, site renderings, presentation files, and the revision of construction documents. I also managed a few lunch and learn workshops (see below picture) to teach the team how to work with Revit Architecture. Some landscape architecture firms like LSG cooperate directly with architecture firms whose preferred software is Revit Architecture.
P- 30
RESTON TOWN CENTER BLOCK 5, RESTON, VA I noticed that lots of new projects had been going on in Reston Town Center while I was an intern at LSG Landscape Architecture in summer of 2018. The Block 5 was a collaboration between the firm and architects who designed the tower on the corner of Market and President Street. The goal was to suggest some primary ideas to secure the entrances of the building and the users from danger of high speed cars. Furthermore, improvement of functional and visual aspects of the sidewalks were considered by proposing some civic and natural elements such as: bollards, benches, lights, planters, trees, walls, bike racks, and etc. These three sheets are just few pages of a 20-page presentation file that I worked on. I got the chance of being engaged during the conceptual design process by Ms. Fan, who had been the president of the LSG and in charge of the following project at a time. My task was to provide and put together all the presentation materials including analytical diagrams, precedents, sketches, 3D modeling of all the schematic ideas in Revit Architecture, providing seven simple perspectives, and seven sections that would compare before and after conditions.

Bannai is a script form of Islamic Calligraphy. It is a kind of angular Kufic script, which has geometric forms; square, rhombus, rectangular, parallel, and crossed lines. The foundation of Bannai script is horizontal and vertical direction of the lines, which always have equal thickness and completely fill the geometrical form. This is the very first and largest piece I have worked on so far, which was accomplished during the third year of my undergrad years. It took me four months to complete it. P- 36

WOODEN PHISYCAL MODEL OF OSAGE FOREST OF PEACE Studio IV - Spring 2018 - Individual Project Woodshop Assistant: Aubrey R Pontious Software and Equipments: Rhinoceros, Rhino Cam, AutoCAD, Laser Cutter, and CNC Machine
After 3D modeling all the project’s components and the site’s topography in Rhinoceros, I decided on the material of the base and details; wood, balsa wood, wood dowels, and plexiglass were chosen. Then, I collected and stuck the separated pieces of wood using glue, tried to bind them by utilizing the particular tools and some heavy stuff in order to create a united piece for my base. I let it dry for almost 48 hours at the wood shop. (MEDIA_01) The assistant helped me to import my Rhino file into the

Rhino Cam and set it up. Rhino Cam is a unique software working directly with a CNC machine. In my project, three different files had been exported to be run by the machine separately: carving (MEDIA_02), making holes, and hatching (MEDIA_03 and 04). It is to be mentioned that in each process, the machine required specific type of laser head, which was switched based on its usage and thickness. The plexiglass, wood sticks, and the balsa wood were cut by a regular laser cutter at the same time.
