Country Music in Camposol
With people coming from Isla Plana –Totana -Alhama, as well as Camposol, Marianos is proving popular-Hardly surprising, as it has the biggest dance floor (As far as we are aware) in Costa Calida. The live music on our April night was provided by Interactive Murcia--Their song “a womans way”is on the shortlist for country song of the year on uk country radio - we’re rootin’ for you Geraldine . Normally Ann teaches a line dance, but as she was “incapacitated” that night, Tom taught Mexican Salsa, a line dance to a Carleen Carter song—Must have went down well, as it was asked for later in the evening. As normal, we do our best to involve everyone, so Doug, one of Maureen and Simons party, handled the raffle. That party know how to enjoy themselves--Have never seen a dance being done with someone crawling between your legs—All good clean harmless fun. Our next night will be on Friday
2nd May, in Marianos, Camposol---A new name to the Costa Calida area, appearing for the first time here, Paul Allen , will provide the live entertainment—no doubt he will sing his “Ryanair” song. We meet on the 1st Friday of each month,in Marianos restaurant Camposol, starting at 7.45pm. From then, until 9pm, a line dance, and then a partner dance will be taught, intermingled with requests - at 9pm the live music kicks in. If you would like more information etc contact thw35@yahoo.co.uk or tel 610 632 152. P.S: The phantom poster thief strikes again on Camposol sector A-Marianos and Alans shop. If you want to collect our posters, (Steve does make a wonderful job of these) just phone and we’ll deliver a few direct to you--This will save you “slinking around“ in the dark, continually looking over your shoulder to ensure no one sees you.
Come visit us at Dragontours and see what we can do for you to enjoy even more the Spring weather. On May 2nd, we will be going to Caravaca de la Cruz to their Wine Horse Festival, just 19€ for a fantastic day out. From May 11th to 14th, there is a tour to Cordoba, to delight in their flower-filled patios, open to the public during the first weeks in May. Or sign up for a trip to the Sevilla fair, dancing, horses and lots of “fino”, leaving Camposol on May 4th. Not only can we offer day trips and coach trips around Spain, but we get the best offers for cruises – example: get up to €400 per cabin on-board credit, by booking your Norwegian cruise before May 6th. Book a Canary Island summer holiday before May 30th for great discounts. Remember that at Dragontours you can be assured of personalized attention and advice. We can sort out all your travel needs, from a bus ticket to a round-the-world adventure, and anything inbetween. Call us on 968 199021, e-mail us at info@dragontours.net or better still, come into the office located on Sector A Camposol. We look forward to meeting you!

Chinese Firm 3D prints 10 full-sized houses
A company in China has used giant 3D printers to make 10 full-sized detached single-storey houses - in a day. WinSun, a private firm, used four 10m x 6.6m printers to spray a mixture of cement and construction waste to build the walls, layer by layer, the official Xinhua news agency reported. The cheap materials used during the printing process and the lack of manual labour means that each house can be printed for under $5,000, according to the 3dprinterplans website. “We can print buildings to any digital design our customers bring us. It’s fast
and cheap,” says WinSun chief executive Ma Yihe. He hopes that his printers can be used to build skyscrapers in the future, though at the moment Chinese construction regulations do not allow multi-storey 3Dprinted houses, Xinhua says. The method of 3D printing has become widely used in recent years. Manufacturers and designers have been able to make everyday items such as jewellery and furniture, as well as more specialised objects like industrial components.
Twelve artists from across Wales have been chosen to be part of a project to develop new, independent contemporary music. More than 300 applied for a place in the project. The first winners announced at the Focus Wales festival in Wrexham were Cardiff-based indie band Houdini Dax. Other chosen artists named include Baby Queens, a female five-piece from Cardiff who are a cross between rock, hip-hop, soul and reggae; rock band Candelas from Llanuwchlyn; and Climbing Trees - a four-piece multiinstrumental “Cymrucana” ensemble from Pontypridd. Chris Jones, 45-year-old contemporary folk balladeer from Cwm-y-glo, near
Caernarfon, and singer Gabrielle Murphy, 17, from Treherbert were also winners, and electro-pop singer and writer Casi from Snowdonia, Kizzie Crawford from Merthyr who fuses bilingual soul and jazz, have been given places. Indie pop band Seazoo from Wrexham, rock band The People The Poet, pop group Swnami and Welsh language folk group Plu make up the rest of the lineup. All of the winners - chosen in English and Welsh - will be offered a platform at events across Wales and through BBC Wales’ national services - BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio Wales along with Laugharne Live on 3 May and Machynlleth Comedy Festival on 4 May.

ASSSA - your private health insurer in Spain Currently, many European citizens are experiencing changes which are bringing the effects of the crisis in Spain much closer to home. Some of you may be losing your entitlement to a SIP card while others, who already have private insurance, are finding out that their insurance company has been bought out by another insurance group. This has imposed limitations on their level of service or even on their quality of cover. Many have since discovered that they will no longer be able to visit the private doctor of their choice because the new company does not have a contract with them any more. Are you in either situation? Would you consider a reasonably priced private health insurance with ASSSA so that you can visit local, English speaking doctors in Spain? Are you privately insured, but dissatisfied: premium increases; no customer service in your language; your insurance company has radically reduced and changed their services? ASSSA offers you impartial advice and tailor-made solutions with special offers available and special conditions for those transferring in from another private insurer. Personal advice and support even after signing your contract? With our insurance company, this comes as a matter of course. ASSSA has, for over 75 years, offered its customers in Spain excellent private health insurance at an affordable price. For the last 20 Years we have specialized in meeting the private health insurance demands of our European fellow citizens along the Costa. In order to achieve this superior customer service and customer proximity, we have set up a chain of customer service offices along the
coast. ASSSA - Experience, Expertise & Customer Service Our personal service is unique. Our friendly, multi-lingual employees are pleased to inform you of both our achievements and policies without any obligation to purchase. Our philosophy is to answer all client queries fully and with complete honesty. Many of our clients join us on recommendation from existing ones, which is a clear indication of our unique service. After joining ASSSA you are allocated a personal contact that speaks your language and assists with any questions that you may have. Your personal contact will deal directly with you for medical assistance, offering her personal empathy, help and support. Service and support now also in our new office in LOS ALCAZARES, C/ Fuster 61, next to the Town hall, 968 574 144 – you are welcome to visit us there as well Doctors and Hospitals. 6 Best natural moisturisers for your skin Our appearance is given to us by nature but our beauty is something that we create ourselves. Even if you don’t look like a top model you still have all chances to be one of the most attractive girls. Sure, it takes some time but the results will be impressive. Every woman dreams about fresh and glowing skin that makes us look young and beautiful. To achieve the desirable effect it is necessary to care for your skin daily. Moisturizing is the main thing you should keep in mind when speaking about skin care. Most women usually choose different expensive products containing chemicals to moisturize their skin, but there are lots of other healthy and effective ways to do this. You’ll be surprised to know that some natural products can help you keep your skin moisturized and balanced. Here are the best ways to care for your skin naturally. 1. Smooth Waxes We used to think that hot waxes are efficient only for hair removal. However, they also have other benefits that will astonish you. For instance, waxes are known to retain moisture that is so important to our skin. These natural products will make an invisible barrier on your skin. Before applying wax you’d better massage your skin with some oil. This way your results will be perfect. It should be mentioned that waxes prevail over other moisturizers since they hydrate our skin and let it breathe at the same time. 2. Butters For most of us, butter is generally associated with greasy and fatty substance. Have you ever thought of the idea to moisturize your skin with this component? I strongly recommend you to try it if you want to have a soft and hydrated skin. Almost all butters are made of seeds and various nuts. People with dry and itchy skin should use cocoa butter, which helps to fight these problems. Those who suffer from eczema or psoriasis will be amazed how good mango butter is, because this natural moisturizer relieves all unpleasant symptoms connected with these issues. Doctors say that Shea butter is an excellent way to treat dry skin and

scars. Moreover, this is a wonderful source of nourishment for aging skin. 3. Sticky Honey Honey is a unique natural product, which is packed with numerous vitamins and minerals that help us improve our health and beauty. Due to its endless anti-bacterial properties, honey is widely used as a remedy for skin care. First of all, this yummy substance is the basic ingredient for dozens of masks that you can make at home. It has been proven that honey is salubrious for our skin as it can cure defects like pimples, acne, burns and tanning scars. 4. Lavishing Oils When applied regularly, oils will provide extra shine to your skin. There is a great variety of natural oils that are often used in cosmetology, but olive oil, castor oil and coconut oil are the most preferable choices. In addition, you will discover the beneficial effect of sunflower oil, almond oil, wheat germ oil and grape seed oil. Being lighter than butters, oils are easily absorbed into the skin. In general, oils are helpful when it comes to different skin problems such as rosacea, blisters and rashes. Plus, oils are the best way to nourish our skin. 5. Water Don’t forget that drinking water is the major clue to moisturized skin. If we consume enough water our body will stay hydrated during the day. Water is an indispensable part of our health and beauty, thus we should constantly control our water intake. The conducted researches have shown that it is a fantastic way to get rid of any impurities and cleanse the body. On the average, an adult person should drink about eight glasses of water daily. This natural method to moisturize skin will also help you to improve your complexion. 6. Relaxation Stop for a moment and take a deep breath. Perhaps it’s not an exact way to moisturize our skin, though it may be really helpful. All you need is to relax and relieve stress that can be harmful to your health and to your skin as well. Try to avoid stressful situations and overcome anxiety because they may cause skin irritation, rashes, blemishes and a lot of other problems. No matter how busy you are, you should find some time to relax and feel the harmony with your inner world. You will see that such practice will refresh your mind as well as your skin. After a long working day, taking shower will be the most desirable relaxation for you. Make it a rule to use at least some of these natural moisturizers and you’ll definitely have glowing, fresh and clear skin. We rarely think of the fact that our skin performs a protective function in our body, so we must be especially careful with it. Skin is the reflection of our health and age. Don’t waste your time and start caring for your skin right now! What are your favorite ways to moisturize your skin? Which of the above methods do you find most effective? Source://en.amerikanki.com/

2014 Sunglasses Trends
As spring begins and summer comes into view, sunglasses are a must to protect the eyes and look the part. There are key trends for sunglasses each year which can update a look and you can really have fun with different sizes, colours and details. Specsavers Opticas’ trend experts have put together these style tips for following the trends and staying true to your style for spring/summer 2014 Select the right shape There are styles to suit all face shapes and you can have fun with your sunglasses choosing the new bigger frames and retro shapes. Retro - From roundeyed sunnies and specs to bombers and bowling shirts, the 50s, 60s and 70s are making a comeback. Creating a retro look with your sunglasses is easy. Deep statement shapes and round-eyed styles suit both genders, cat’s-eye specs look great on women and Aviator inspired looks have a classic vintage vibe.
Oversized frames – If you want to make a statement this year go for big, or rounded styles which dominate your face. Sun RX have got some good versions of this style in different
colours and materials, such as purple and metal detailing. Cat’s-eyes – This year’s cat’s-eyes shapes are exaggerated and embellished with metal and interesting finishes, these will be sure to get you noticed with a funky vintage feel. Tortoise-shell – This material is being applied
to a lot of different styles and shapes of glasses in 2014. Tommy Hilfiger has some great 1980s feeling frames which use the material to good effect. Colours – The future is bright with pops of eye-catching colours in graduated tones or simple colour blocking.
Helena Benson qualified as a medical doctor at the First Medical Academy in Moscow in 1986. In 1989 Helena came to England. During the 1990’s she worked at Harley Street and from her clinic in North London. She has been practicing natural herbs, iridology and nutrition. In the late 90’s she became involved in medical aesthetics, and now treats patients across the United Kingdom, Ireland and Spain. Helena is the founder of the London School of Permanent Make-up, one of the leading schools in the UK Dr Benson specializes in aesthetic medicine and facial rejuvenation, not requiring cosmetic surgery, or so called ‘lunchtime cosmetics’. Treatments for wrinkles and skin peels can become part of your grooming routine, like going to the hairdresser, doing your nails or even buying new clothes. The best modern cosmetics come in syringes, not jars! Improving your skin or fixing the line may not necessarily fix your life. But wouldn’t it be nice to get back what you thought you might have lost forever? If you can look good and feel great about it, then why not do it? A desire to improve your appearance is not about vanity. It’s about confidence and your self-esteem. And as Oscar Wilde said “It is only shallow people who don’t judge by first impressions”. Helena Benson will be at RRetreat, El Cucador, Albox on Wednesday 23rd April. Call 647 379 878 to book an appointment or free consultation!

SOLTIMES april 2014
Hello and welcome to CanDu Computer Bytes. It is time for my soapbox to be brought out again, although lately it hasn’t had time to sit in a cupboard collecting any dust! So what has got my dander up this time? DMCA! Surprisingly, this isn’t a parody on an American disco group that formed in the United States in 1977, well known for their onstage costumes depicting American cultural stereotypes, as well as their catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics. It is, unsurprisingly, a piece of legislation (laws – created for the rich to subjugate the poor!) whose task it is to curtail the free and legal circulation of computer programs, music (music industry copyrighted or not), Movies (legal home movies share between consenting adults or some so old that the actors, directors, producers, as well as the original production company, are all long dead)! It is the latest (note: not the last!) amendment in the ongoing saga of the copyright laws. These cryptic initials of this anagram actually mean “Digital Millennium Copyright Act”. I would suspect that most on you good readers will have something on your computer that hasn’t been paid for! I am guilty of this too. My copy of XP (now now longer updated but still liable to the same penalties as before (oops - more soapbox)) is one that I have paid for, but not for this machine which means that I am still liable to being charged with being in possession of an illegal piece of software (go figure)! Most of us have done it and can find justification for doing it! It is very difficult, outside of a police state, for a private organisation to walk into your home and examine your computer for stolen software – so don’t worry about that. What this piece of legislation does is to prevent you bypassing the security systems put in place to prevent you changing something. This act contains two main sections that have
been a source of particular controversy since they went into effect in 2000. The “anticircumvention” provisions (sections 1201 et seq. of the Copyright Act) bar circumvention of access controls and technical protection measures. The “safe harbor” provisions (section 512) protect service providers who meet certain conditions from monetary damages for the infringing activities of their users and other third parties on the net. Vague? Yes, but the following examples might help clarify things a little. In enacting the “anti-circumvention” provisions of the DMCA Congress ostensibly intended to stop copyright pirates from defeating DRM (Digital Rights Management) and other content access or copy restrictions on copyrighted works and to ban the “black box” devices intended for that purpose. How does this affect you? You have just got the phone of your dreams and have sent it to be ‘unlocked’ to allow your favourite phone company to use it. You and the person ‘unlocking’ it are both separately and equally ‘guilty’ under the act and could face many years in prison. THIS WONT HAPPEN for the reasons outlined earlier (they have to find you first!). This amendment was designed to further ‘enhance’ (read “infringe your rights”) the act and prevent people stealing software. In practice the DMCA anticircumvention provisions have done little to stop “Internet piracy.”! This is a massive “Soapbox” of a topic as it is currently the most contentious issue in the computer world and as such this small column can’t give it the fair hearing that it probably deserves. So as my soapbox well and truly damaged beyond repair! I’m off to Jack’s Bar for my Friday computer clinic! If you would like a clinic nearer to you – make the suggestion using the email address under this article. See you around now that summer is here :-)
braben’s blog... Satnav Nev!
Haven’t we come up with some astounding innovations? Okay, not you or I, well, definitely not me, but there are loads of other bright sparks out there who have had some spiffing ideas. Just look at the last fifty years, we’ve had the microchip, oven chips and Match of the Day to name just a few. Then there’s satellite navigation. Why? Unless you’re pottling off to navigate your way around the Sahara desert, why not use a map. Or better still, have fun getting lost. I’m really good at getting lost but sometimes you get an unexpected bonus. We once got lost and stumbled upon Mold. I don’t want you to think we discovered it, in a sort of Christopher Columbus way, somebody beat us to that centuries ago, but we accidentally found the best Chinese restaurant we’d ever been to. Getting lost 1, satnav 0! There’s a lot to be said for getting lost but , satellite navigation is here to stay and has taken another step…literally. Someone, with too much time on their hands, has come up with the idea of having satellite navigation in your s h o e s . No, really, I’m not

Pinch-Punch last day of the month
‘The years seem to rush by’ is something I say more often as each year passes. This edition came out on the last day of April, Easter has gone, New Year’s Day is a distant memory and May Day is upon us. Spring has certainly sprung in Andalucía and with such a dry winter in Almeria there have been numerous wildfires. Most are caused by people’s inattention, carelessness even deliberately. The usual suspects are discarded cigarettes (often tossed from a moving car hence so many roadside verge blazes) and burning of garden or field waste. Hot vehicle exhaust pipes and catalytic converters will easily set fire to undergrowth if driven over. Recently, a new tenant moved into a country property; he stood chatting to me as I showed him around the garden then casually flicked his fag away into the campo. Like slo-mo in a movie I shouted ‘Noooooooooo!!!’ The smouldering butt flew through the air in a lazy arch and landed near tinder dry dead grass. Luckily he quickly retrieved it, immediately realising just how dangerous rural life could be. He promised to use ashtrays outside in future. With health and safety warnings on the most innocuous of objects I wonder how people still get into scrapes. The Wile E Coyote picture via Facebook illustrates the point succinctly. A few weeks ago in Britain a teenage girl dropped her iPhone down a roadside drain. Instead of calling for help she opened the lid and clambered in as she had the
making this up. You have to first of all download an appof course-which connects to a microchip in your shoe. Then you programme your destination into the thing and if you go wrong, it emits a loud and quite embarrassing buzz. I know what you’re thinking. Who would need assistance in walking successfully from A to B? I’ll tell you who, my friend Nev. Nev got a job presenting on Hospital Radio in Nottinghamshire. He was delighted and told everyone. His mum was so proud that she took the family, including Aunts, Uncles and the man next door who looked after their three legged cat-don’t ask- to the hospital on the day of his first broadcast. Not admitted of course, just sitting in a family room, waiting for Nev’s big moment. The radio station had two studios so Nev, armed with records-round flat things with a hole in the middle-sat at the turntable and started his show. Unfortunately, he went to the wrong studio and over the airways was total silence. His poor mum was so mortified she didn’t leave the house for months. What happened to Nev? No one knows. He went out for a paper back in 1998, got lost and hasn’t been seen since!

notion she could grab it with her feet. She got stuck fast in the process. Last December a young Taiwanese woman was so engrossed reading her Facebook account whilst walking along a pier in Melbourne Australia that she walked off the edge into the sea. For 20 minutes she bobbed about buoyed by a rucksack on her back, she couldn’t swim and drifted 30 metres out to sea before being rescued. Her insurance company were very grateful as she still had her phone clutched tightly in her hand. Common sense as a child is a rare thing and usually learnt by experience (sometimes bitter); aged 7, one winters evening I got hold of some matches and decided it would be great fun to cut a hole in my top bunk bed mattress and make a little camp fire in the horse hair filling. It just smouldered rather than roar into flame creating smoke which luckily wafted downstairs and up the nostrils of our dad. This being the early 70s they were no smoke alarms, he ran upstairs to find his 2 naughty boys sitting on the top bunk happily blowing on the embers. In silence he pulled us off the bed, opened the window and dropped the smouldering mattress onto the snow covered garden below where it fizzed and went out. Strangely I don’t remember getting told off but the snow sticks in my mind 40 years later. 5 years later and in my front garden this time, my best mate Paul Cox and I climbed up the big fir
tree and tried to light a little camp fire amongst the dead leaves. We thought we had failed miserably and wandered off to Guildford to do whatever young boys do with no cash in their pockets. We walked home later and as we rounded our street corner the fire brigade were just leaving. Half the tree was blackened, the road flooded from the hoses and our protestations of innocence were unsurprisingly brushed away by both sets of parents who were waiting for us!

WITH MICHAEL DAVIES, ABOGADO/SOLICITOR If you wish us to print an article about a particular topic, please e-mail info@daviessolicitors.com VERY IMPORTANT: A NEW DIRECTIVE FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION MAKES IT NECCESARY FOR ENGLISH PEOPLE RESIDENT IN SPAIN TO REVISE THEIR SPANISH WILLS. Q. A solicitor spoke the other day on television about the new directive 650/2012 explaining that is was essential that people retired in a country different of their country of nationality within the European Union revise their wills. What is all this about? A. This regulation of the EU 650/2012 deals with different things, but the reason English citizens need to look at their will is that this new Regulation of the EU establishes that: When a person dies resident in one country of the European Union but national of another, the law applicable to his inheritance will be the one that he/she has established expressly in his will and not the one established by the International Norms of each country (which may be in conflict). This is good news because an English national living in Spain can establish that he/she wishes English Law to rule his/her inheritance and this will avoid any possible risk of claims from children against the spouse on the basis of the system of obligatory heirs established in Spanish law, which has always caused worry and concern in the case of children from different marriages etc. If a person passes away after the 17th of August of 2015, unless he has said differently on his will the legislation applicable to his inheritance will be that of his country of last residence. This is very important for English people living in Spain, because under Spanish

In other words if you are resident of Spain, have children and do not establish on your will that you wish English Law (your national law ) to rule your inheritance your Spouse will not be allowed to receive his/her full inheritance as it would contradict the Spanish rules of obligatory heirs which would be applicable automatically because of the new regulation. If you have not, then you need to speak to a solicitor about this new European directive and add this statement to your will. 2.If you are married and you have been concerned with possible claims by your spouses children against your estate this risk can be completely removed by your spouse stating on her/his will that it should be English law that rules the inheritance. Conclusion: Due to the substantial changes that it introduces the directive allows up to August of 2015 for it to be in force and therefore giving all those affected (anyone national of a European Union country resident in another) time to have their wills changed accordingly. The sooner you make sure that your will is in order the better. Michael Davies. Abogado.

2013 saw the Spanish population decline for the second consecutive year, down to 46.7 million, due to the exodus of foreigners from the country. Specifically, 545,980 foreigners decided to leave Spain last year, while 141,361 Spaniards opted to return. Only the Chinese community grew in 2013 (by 3,549 citizens, up 2%), while all the other groups of foreign nationalities declined, led by the British (with 87,880 citizens less), the Romanians (74,745) and the Ecuadorians (-45,309). This information comes from the Continuous Electoral Register Statistics, with data to 1st January 2014, published last week by the National

Statistics Institute. Up until 2012, the Spanish population had increased every year since data began being collated (1998), mainly due to the arrival of foreigners in the economic boom years, a situation that the current crisis has reversed, forcing many of them to return to their own countries or to seek future opportunities elsewhere. To illustrate this situation, the Register data shows that the number of foreigners registered in Spain rose from 923,879 in the year 2000, to a total of 5,747,734 in 2010. The first declines occurred in 2011 and 2012 (of 15,229 and 190,020, respectively), while the biggest drop was registered last year (545,980).

Retail sales edged up in March compared with the previous month, official figures have shown, beating forecasts. Sales volumes were 0.1% higher in March than in February. Analysts had expected sales to drop because of the Easter holidays falling in April this year. Volumes in March were up 4.2% compared with a year earlier, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. The cold weather a year ago was a key factor in the year-on-year rise, the ONS said. Non-food stores showed the biggest year-on-year rise in sales since April 2002, up 9.6%. The ONS said this was helped considerably by the comparison with March 2013 which was the second coldest March on record. This year the weather was much warmer, leading to more people heading out to the shops. ‘Fundamental improvement’ Retail sales figures for the first quarter of the year were also produced by the ONS. Sales volumes were up 3.8% in the first three months of the year compared with the first quarter of 2013. The figures add to evidence that the UK economy grew strongly in the first three months of the
year. Earlier this week it emerged that the Bank of England had raised its growth forecast for the quarter to 1% from 0.9%. The ONS figures showed that sales of clothing and footwear were particularly strong last month. “Thoughts had been that consumers would take a slight pause in March from retail - a breather before the late Easter spending spree, but sales of clothing increased by 3.1% on the month and took the overall average into positive territory,” said Jeremy Cook, chief economist at currency brokers World First. Chris Williamson, chief economist at research firm Markit, said March’s better-than-expected sales were “not just a temporary growth spurt”. “There is a fundamental improvement in household finances underway which should help drive further ongoing growth of consumer spending as we move through the year,” he said. “The improving job market, and especially rising wages, combined with lower inflation are helping boost consumer spirits and starting to reverse the squeeze on real incomes that has been so damaging to the economy since the financial crisis.” Source: http://www.bbc.com/

Help for Expats in Spain Many people just think they can sell their car in Spain and that’s it, but that’s simply not the case. You need to make sure ownership is changed to the new owner. What happens if you don’t? You may find in a few years that you are still registered as the owner of the vehicle and you will get back dated tax bills and maybe fines incurred by the new owner. Will they chase you up if you are in another country? Possibly not at the moment but with all the data sharing that is going within the EU it’s only a matter of time before they will. If you haven’t changed the ownership and cannot find the new owner or you have an old car or motorcycle that you want to scrap. What he fails at is understanding people’s emotions. “He can’t read their faces. He can’t put himself in their shoes.” He can understand literal meanings of everyday things that you and I take for granted but becomes frustrated and confused with metaphors and idioms. Fear usually develops. Siobhan, one of his teachers has advised him to ask people what they mean when he is confused by their emotions and if he doesn’t receive a response that makes sense logically to him he is told to walk away. He cannot cope with people shouting especially at him and he will groan and scream more like a person having a fit or a person who is insane. Christopher’s behaviour can be violent and worrying. He carries a Swiss army knife around all the time and this is his protective

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime “Sometimes when I want to be on my own I get into the airing cupboard in the bathroom and slide in beside the boiler and pull the door closed behind me and sit there and think for hours and it makes me feel very calm.” This is an extraordinary book about being special and cherishing differences in spite of the isolation felt. The title is taken from Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Silver Blazes” and quoted by the maestro himself, Sherlock Holmes. In Haddon’s novel the main character, Christopher, a 15 year old boy wants to be a mystery detective solving the murder of Wellington just like his idol Holmes. As soon as you start reading it is obvious that Christopher is different and special. He has a photographic memory and thinks logically and literally. He demonstrates his thought patterns by adding illustrations, maps, diagrams and stories. This appealed to Haddon’s younger audiences but the book has been very popular with adults. It won 17 literary prizes and was adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott for the stage. In August 2012 it premiered at the National Theatre (London) before transferring to London’s West End in March 2013. It was broadcast live to cinemas worldwide on the 6th September 2012. It seems more than likely that Christopher suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome and high-functioning autism. The author didn’t want to

weapon against anyone who grabs him. Just like self-defence. Shockingly, he also keeps it there to protect himself from his father thinking that his father might murder him. Siobhan is the one who encourages him to write a murder mystery novel and the story begins aptly with the murder of Wellington, Mrs Shears’ poodle. When she sees Christopher carrying the dog she screams and this causes an adverse reaction with him. She contacts the police who ask too many questions flooding his mind. He lies face down on the ground, groaning: “They were starting up on my head like loaves in the factory where Uncle Terry works.” The policeman tried to lift him up from the grass and Christopher hit him. It was an instinctive reaction. Back to the self-defence. It seems impossible to imagine a child
He lives with his father, Ed, a boiler engineer after the death of his mother. Ed tries his best but there is conflict and frustration sometimes culminating in a fist-fight. He discovers that his mother and Mr Shears were very, very good friends and included this in his “novel.” His father read this and confiscated it. When Christopher was in the detective mode he went searching for his book and discovered a pile of unopened letters addressed to him. Frightening revelations from his father forced Christopher to run away from home, on a treacherous journey to London. The impossible journey is a testament to his determination and it will succeed in giving you goosebumps. Publisher: David Fickling ISBN: 978-1849-921763 Also Jonathan Cape. REVIEW it by Carol Naylor. There are four bungalows in our cul-de-sac. They are made from these materials: straw, wood, brick and glass. Mrs Scott’s bungalow is somewhere to the left of the wooden one and the third one along is brick. Mrs Umbrella owns a straw bungalow and Mr Tinsley does not live at either end, but lives somewhere to the right of the glass bungalow. Mr Wilshaw lives in the fourth bungalow, whilst the first bungalow is not made from straw. Who lives where, and what is their bungalow made from?

SOLTIMES APRIL 2014
From, left to right: #1 Mrs Scott - glass #2 Mrs Umbrella - straw #3 Mr Tinsley - brick #4 Mr Wilshaw - wood If we separate and label the clues, and label the bungalows #1, #2, #3, #4 from left to right we can see that: a. Mrs Scott’s bungalow is somewhere to the left of the wooden one. b. The third one along is brick. c. Mrs Umbrella owns a straw bungalow d. Mr Tinsley does not live at either end. e. Mr Tinsley lives somewhere to the right of the glass bungalow. f. Mr Wilshaw lives in the fourth bungalow g. The first bungalow is not made from straw. By (g) #1 isn’t made from straw, and by (b) nor is #3. By (f) Mr Wilshaw lives in #4 therefore by (c) #2 must be straw, and Mrs Umbrella lives there. Therefore by (d) Mr Tinsley must live in #3, which, by (b) is the brick bungalow. By (a) #4 must be wooden (otherwise Mrs Scott couldn’t be to its left) and by (f) Mr Wilshaw lives there. Which leaves Mrs Scott, living in #1, the glass bungalow. QED

Mallazo Our grapevines have matured into proper vines. By that I mean that over the winter they resemble gnarled dead stumps, such as is found outside the Lair of the Fire Breathing Dragon in any good Disney cartoon. But now they have burst into fecundity, tender green leaves sprouting daily from their delicate tendrils as they eagerly clamber across the gazebo erected for their comfort. However, they have grown too heavy for the slender wires provided for their support, so on Bob’s advice we went to the builder’s supply yard to look for an iron frame that was light enough to be placed on top of the gazebo without the assistance of an Icelandic strong man,
yet was robust enough to maintain elevation for the galloping enthusiasm of their growth. I knew what I wanted, but not what it was called. Barbara’s Big Dictionary was no help to me – it didn’t have an entry for ‘a sort of framey thing about this big, made of iron rectangles about this size and about this thick, that we can put on top of the gazebo to support the grapevines so that they don’t collapse on our heads.’ I would have to hope to see what I wanted, and stumble on from there. Builder’s supply yards are full of all manner of treasures, and we traipsed through aisles of tiles, past bags of bounty for mixing up all kinds of cement and other mysterious stuff, round pipes of all dimensions and shapes, balustrades, palisades and grades of sand and gravel, stones by the sackful in most of the colours of the rainbow, but no metal framey things of any description. By now we had persisted josbiggs@hotmail.co.uk

without success through the entire yard to the rubbish dump. Gazing in depression at the accumulated detritus I spotted hidden in its depth – lots of framey things! Revitalised, I sought and found an assistant – as wiry and light as the framey thing I was after, but smaller. ‘Follow me!’ I exhorted, and we trotted in tandem to the dump. ‘I want one of those.’ I pointed. ‘But I don’t know what it’s called.’ ‘Mallazo.’ He informed me, smiling all over his cheerful brown face. ‘Mallazo’ I repeated, thanked him and hurried to the office to pay before I forgot what I was paying for. It’s not difficult to spot that I’m not Spanish, so in the spirit of helpfulness the office chica asked in English if she could help. ‘Mallazo’ I replied in Spanish. I had to reply in Spanish, I have no idea what a mallazo is in English!
alqueria For Manuela a competitor The rumour mill had been grinding out stories of a new arrival in the Newcomer’s barrio. A female who has recently returned after a long absence from Alqueria. The girl or rather woman has the given name of Gabriela. Tall, raven haired, olive skinned and with eyes like paperweights. A description which bears an uncanny resemblance to Manuela, the Hill People’s very own heroine and ‘femme fatale’. Manuela decided to investigate and weigh up the competition. If Gabriela did indeed classify as a rival it could lose Manuela the ability to influence male Newcomers. Something she has been doing for years with great effect by deploying her arsenal of womanly wiles. Disguised as a one armed prickly-pear salesman with a limp and dandruff, Manuela entered the lair of the Newcomers, the Bar La Golondrina Verde. There in an alcove surrounded by the cream of Newcomer manhood was the woman Gabriela. ‘A force to be reckoned with’ Manuela thought. She quickly made her way back to the Bar La Casa Devante to plan and scheme. Manuela duly sent a note to Gabriela asking for a showdown on neutral ground in the old olive grove to the north of the village. Now, fights are always popular. Fights between women even more so but a catfight between the two village beauties promised to bring out the whole village. Anselmo Adamso, Alqueria’s very own war correspondent and photojournalist, although we only have his word for it asked Manuela if he could be the official photographer. Manuela threatened to shred him through a garlic press causing Adamso to take flight and hide in Poyato’s John MacDonald (El Sordo) - www.caratacus.eu

hay loft where he stayed for three weeks. Twelve noon at the olive grove, corny but it works. With a tossing of curly hair and the flashing of deep brown almond eyes the two women approached each other. The villagers waited, expectant. The men with their cameras at the ready. This promised to be the spectacle of the year. Manuela and Gabriela stood face to face their, noses almost touching. Brown soulful eyes stared unblinkingly into brown soulful eyes. The villagers looked on as the rivals eye-balled each other. The gentle afternoon breeze ruffled hair but not tempers as the scrutiny continued. The would-be pugilists continued their stand-off, neither flinching nor giving ground. The villagers soon became bored, most headed for the bar. The afternoon shadows grew longer and Loco Paco was out for his evening stroll deep in conversation with his imaginary pet rodent, Bert. Still the deadlock continued. Will the stalemate be broken with violence? Will they ever blink again? Will they develop moss on their north side? We shall see.

Eggs with Your Omelette? We had arrived early at the plush Simplon Orient Express lounge on platform 2 at Victoria Station ahead of many of our fellow passengers who were yet to arrive. Our daft driver had got it all wrong and arrived at our Gatwick hotel at the ungodly hour of 7am instead of 8.00. We had dressed appropriately, having donned the very best ensembles that Messrs Primark and M&S could provide. Our luggage was tagged and taken into custody by the attractive uniformed reception staff and we had wandered off to the main concourse to have ourselves a leisurely breakfast. We arrived back an hour later to find the place buzzing. Liveried porters were loading designer luggage onto trolleys, couriers were answering innumerable questions from well turned out travellers and the whole lounge and adjoining platform area was fizzing like a vigorously shaken bottle of bubbly. We helped ourselves to two cups of complimentary coffee and took in the whole thrilling scene. I was waiting in the short queue with those wishing to take advantage of the in house conveniences (there were by this time a hundred or so people milling about and the facilities were limited) when a delightful lady in front of me turned her head and exclaimed: ‘Isn’t this exciting!’ I knew what she meant of course but I was on the verge of coming back with something like: ‘What, queuing for the bog on Victoria Station?’ But then thought better of it, not knowing if she

would appreciate my cutting edge humour, which is admittedly not in the tradition of the Orient Express or Hercule Poirot. She was genuinely and rightfully aflame with enthusiasm for our forthcoming trip, which not only involved travelling on the legendary British Pullman and Orient Express trains, but later having sampled the delights of the Italian Lakes and Venice for eight days, we would be sailing off on a Mediterranean and Adriatic odyssey on board the iconic Queen Elizabeth. This was to be the trip of which dreams are made. It was only much later on in our adventure that we had reason to talk at length with the lady and her husband, when we found that we had been allocated seating at the same table on board ship. It was to be the start of a memorable twelve days in the company of our new friends. All of us come into contact with many people during our life time, but it’s only very occasionally that we meet someone with whom there is an instant rapport, an identical outlook on life and the willingness to buy a round of drinks occasionally. And most of all, a matching well developed and daft sense of humour. Thus it was with Sarah and Adrian. On returning to our cabin – no sorry, they must be referred to as staterooms these days the princess and I were discussing our evening when she asked me what I thought of our travelling companions and I remember telling her that these were people that I simply knew would remain friends long after the trip was ended. There is a choice of dining on board the QE, with several specialist eateries; the sumptuous elegance of the Britannia which was our preferred restaurant, or the Lido
Buffet if we were in a hurry or simply fancied a change. It was here in the Lido that the following exchange took place between Adrian and one of the short order cooks on the omelette section. Adrian: ‘A ham omelette please’ Cook: ‘Would you like some cheese or mushrooms?’ Adrian: ‘Yes and some eggs please Cook: ‘Well I think I can manage that’ (Giggles) Adrian: ‘It’s nice to see such a big smile’ (More giggles) Adrian: ‘I can’t place that accent. Where are you from?’ Cook: ‘Madagascar’ The cook then went into a long detailed account of the flora and fauna of Madagascar and its physical attributes. Meanwhile, Adrian’s omelette is being assembled at a snail’s pace and the queue is getting longer. Eventually Adrian tried to cut her short. Adrian: ‘It sounds wonderful, I would love to go there’ Cook: ‘So what you waitin’ for?’ Adrian: omelette!’

Another couple on board, who had also been on the train journey, were christened by us as Barbie and Ken due to the female’s striking figure, Olympic class boobs, white blond hair and an impressive quantity of makeup. A group of us blokes were ogling her one night and expressing our envy toward her escort, when Adrian helpfully pointed out that in fact Ken the doll, had no willy. From then on we looked at Ken with different eyes. Our friends are visiting us in Spain for the first time next week and we are looking forward to more of the same silliness.

Formentera v CD Montesinos
The 40plus Monte fans who made the short trip were entertained to a feast of great goals, skillful football, and the usual comical match official’s decisions. On a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon kick-off, Monte started the brighter with the pace of OMAR, VAZ and PAREDES causing problems against the home side defence. After 10 min’s OMAR superbly lobbed the home keeper for Monte to take the lead 0-1. Formentera’s close passing precise football doesn’t justify their place in the table and the match was developing into a tactical battle. Vaz was brought down cynically when clear on goal, only a yellow card was shown. Efforts by RUBIO, DIEGO, and VAZ should have seen Monte going in at the interval in a comfortable position, but late pressure by Formentera unnerved the Monte fans, and a great save by LOPEZ
kept the score at 0-1 at half time. Jaunpe brought on MARCOS for DANI and the sub’ saw yellow soon after the restart, for diving in the area. Long range shots by RUBIO and ANGEL went wide as Monte started to dominate. OMAR headed just wide from a VAZ cross, Monte capt’ RUBEN was given lots of space on the right, his cross finding VAZ to tap in 0-2. Formentera replied shortly after from a free kick that deflected off the wall into the net 1-2. The Monte keeper then produced another great save to keep his side’s lead, then Monte turned up the heat. RODRIGO came on in place of PAREDES and he cleverly put VAZ in to make it 1-3. A few minutes later Monte were strangely awarded a free kick inside their own half, ANGEL scored what can only be described as a brilliant piece of opportunistic cheek, when he spotted the
keeper on the edge of his area, to chip the ball into the open gateway of the goal, the Formentera players were in shock shaking their heads 1-4. Even the local police applauded what was Monte’s goal of the season. Ruben again found VAZ, who rounded the bemused keeper, to make it 1-5 and that’s how it ended. Next Sunday is Monte’s final home game of the campaign as they entertain league leaders RAFAL kickoff to be confirmed. Quesada Golf Society Last Wednesday there was a good turn-out for the society’s game at the picturesque golf course, El Plantio. The many palm trees which line the fairways were waiting to “suck up” wayward golf balls. The course in general was in good condition and it was evident that a lot of work has and is being done to restore the greens to pristine condition. Play got underway around lunch-time and as the game progressed the wind got stronger which made the backnine for most very challenging. The competition was an individual stableford with 2 divisions. In the Gold division the winner with 27
points on C/B was Roy Westlake. In second place with 27 points was Victor Dew and in third place on 26 points was David McSweeney. In the Silver division the winner with a very creditable score of 32 points on the day was Sheila McSweeney. She now has “bragging” rights in the McSweeney household. In second place with 29 points was Terry Smith and in third place was Pam Martin with 24 points. The best guest with 28 points was Mark Goode. The winner of the “Roy” for the most shots played was David Patrick. Nearest the Pin winners were Darryll Wright, John Mills, Pam Martin and
Stuart Watson. The presentations were made after the game on the terrace outside of the club-house at El Plantio. There is a members meeting at the Quesada Country Club on Tuesday 29th April at 10.30 am and members are encouraged to attend. The next game is another individual stableford at Las Colinas on Wednesday 7th April. Anyone in the Quesada area looking to join a very friendly golf society and play golf once a fortnight at a wide variety of courses at very reasonable cost, should contact the membership secretary Les Pancott on 966 716 723.
San Miguel Golf Society’s April visit to La Finca was a very well attended Stableford battle in the glorious Easter sunshine which unfortunately came accompanied by the usual characteristic blowy afternoon conditions. A couple of hard fought singles matchplay games were interspersed into the day’s activities which resulted in the shattering of hopes & dreams of 2 more members as they were eliminated from this year’s knock-out competition. Norman McBride, the famous “Irish Flicker”, got the better of El Presidente, Phil
Birtwistle, in a match that swayed both ways before Norman closed it out 3 & 1. Brian Staines managed to inflict a similar fate on his opponent & Ben Price also had to graciously accept the 2 & 1 defeat. The four par 3 NTP’s were won by Norman McBride (3), Theo Boelhouwer (6), Alan Gilbert (13) & Dave Simpson (16). Alan Ewing, playing off +1, deservedly claimed the guest prize with his 33 points - great golf! The bronze category winners in ascending order were Ellen Drakesmith (28), Norman McBride (29), Stanley Matthews (31) & Chris Hamblett (32). Similar
37
scoring in the silver division saw the top four as Alan McDonald (29 C/B), Mike Jordan (31), Capt Steve Davis (32) & Joost Boelhouwer (36). The gold was the best scoring division resulting in the winners being Ben Price (33), John Osborne (34), Tony Smale (36) & a superb 38 from Brian Staines earned him a well earned top spot.... well done to all in the prizes! Please bear in mind that we’re in the middle of a very busy golfing season & we do have to “guesstimate” well before we play as to how many tee times to book. This can often result in us not being able to get extra tee times & we therefore have to disappoint now & again......so please book in early. Log onto www.smgs. org to keep up to date with society matters or simply give Baz a quick buzz for details of forthcoming Wednesday meetings at which visitors are always made very welcome. CORVERA GOLF – 22nd APRIL 2014 It was down to the Murcia Province for 22 Members & guests who made the long trek to Corvera Golf on the journey it was a lovely sunny day until we got there. When we got out of the car the sun was shining but there was a very cold and strong wind. Forunately the course played relatively easy with a good run on the ball when it hit the fairway, which accounted for some very good scores. There was one singles & one doubles match played, the results were Arthur Williams & Mick Hithersay defeating Merv Williams and Ron Swift 2 up. In the singles Rocket Ron beat Rodney Smith 4 and 2. This coming weekend ITV Orihuela RFC B team near the end the their league fixtures with just more matches to go, with everything very tight at the top between Squalos, Cartagena and Orihuela RFC. On Saturday Orihuela RFC will be playing away to Cartagena and a win here could give them a chance of winning the league depending on how Squalos do and a defeat could just give the advantage to Cartagena, so lots to play for. Also the ITV Orihuela RFC cadetes are playing their last league game of the season against Cartagena as well on Saturday, before the B team’s game at 16.00.
Orihuela’s final game is also away to Yecla on 10 May, so two tough games to finish the league with as Yecla have got pride to play for, and from the home game we know how difficult they can be to breakdown. Also the team are back training this week after the Easter break, so looking forward to seeing plenty of players down there ready for the big game at the weekend. Soon will be the 7’s season with Elche holding the Alan Davies memorial 7’s on 17 May and on the same day Albacete are holding their 7’s. Up next at the moment is then the Murcia 7’s on 7 June
followed by the exhibition 7’s in Formentera del Segura. So still plenty of rugby to watch after the season finishes. I am now at Zoco Market on Sundays third row up from the road at the back of the market, so come on down there for all of your rugby branded clothing and playing gear, and anything you want to know about rugby in the area. Training is at the Miguel Hernandez University ground at 20.15 on Tuesday and Thursday for the seniors and juveniles. The juniors start at 18.15. So if you are interested, dig out those rugby boots and come along and see for yourself what it is like. New players are always welcome no matter what age or skill level you are. If you would like more information about what is going on in the club, you can contact the club by phoning myself, Garry on 692 767 242, and for the juniors contact Oscar on 600 871 606 (Spanish)
SPORTSMAN GOLF SOCIETY, QUESADA
@ Alicante Golf Wednesday 23rd April 2014 The warmer weather is finally here and with shorts donned it was off northbound to Seve Ballesteros designed course of Alicante Golf. As we set out it was apparent that the course was playing short, as most if not all the tees were brought forward to allow repair of other teeing grounds. This played into the hands of several players whom received 2 shots on holes. Having said all that it was not long before the wind whipped up and counteracted this !!!! We decided to play a team game (Yellow Ball) as well as individual stableford and having carried out the draw in the clubhouse prior to starting the rules were briefed. Turns taken with the ball and the player with the ball was the only score on the card (Double points). If the ball was hit OOB or in the water it was game over. My team well !!! say no more Alec !! 1st tee, 1st shot...... OOB (Driving range) Game over !! No score. It was all a bit of fun and enjoyed. Team Buchanan winners with 38 points. Thanks to Dave Smith for donating the prizes.
Thanks again to the kind donations of prizes we covered all par 3’s NTP, 2’s sweep, 1st & 2nd Place and the best Front & Back 9. A big thank you to Ron and Yolanda at the Sportsman for cooking a great feast after the game Superb Food, the menu in the bar is a must if our food is anything to go by. Nearest the Pin prizes donated by the Sportsman Bar. Our thanks also go to prize donations from Spanish John, Jake the Barber, Spiced Hut, Quesada and The Club, Quesada. Lo Marabu Golf Society
Lo Marabu Golf Society (in association with Costa Blanca Green Fee Services) at El Plantio on 24th April 2014. For this month’s meeting a group of 28 players visited the established course at El Plantio taking advantage of the excellent society deal obtained from Costa Blanca Green Fee Services. This is the first time for a number of years that our society have played this course and was generally well received by our members although the caddy master did insert a 4 ball in the middle of our group ‘at the turn’ who were slow and which made play on the back nine holes slower than we would have expected. The course has clearly undergone significant work particularly on the greens which were much better than when we last played and in general the course was in good condition. The winning scores on the day were as follows:
2nd – Harry Farnell - 32 points
Recovery Assistance
3rd – Mike Probert – 31 points
Nearest the Pin on 9th – Wayne Matthews Dog of a Day Trophy – Rick Matthews After the game we returned to the Lo Marabu, which is located at Dona Pepa, Quesada for a welcome meal prepared by the bar and the prize presentation and we give our thanks for their continued support. Our next fixture is the social day at Mar Menor on 12th May 2014 followed by the monthly meeting at La Peraleja on 29th May 2014. Report by Mike Probert of Costa Blanca Green Fee Services on 966 704 752 or 661 345 931 or see us at our web-site at www.costablanca-greenfees.com.
EUROGOLF SOCIETY APRIL 24TH. This week was the annual Captain Vs Vice Captain’s Challenge. The Captain and Vice Captain pick their teams who then go out and do battle in a 4ball Stableford. This week there were approx 68 players and we had a shotgun start at 8.10. The heat was relentless and it was a hard day at the office. However, at the end of the day a clear winner emerged, with Captain’s choices winning 11-6. Strangely, the winner gets a baseball cap, and the runner up a nice trophy. The game was followed by a Free Lunch for players in THE CLUBHOUSE RESTAURANT . Very nice it was too. RESULTS: 1st John Fairhurst & Alan Venables 7 5 points. (Captain) 2nd Norman Woods & Vince Tocker 71 points. (Captain) 3rd David Blanchette & Mike Gillett 70 points (Vice Captain) Best Man: J. Barraclough, Best Lady: Gina Ashworth, both with 36 points Nearest The Pins: 5th J. Fairhurst. 11th T.
24 hours a day 7 days a week
1st – Winston Blackwood - 33 points
Best Front/ Back 9 holes – Andy Jones and Dave Marriott
Stanley. 15th R. Richings 17th D. Blanchette Football Draw. K. Brett, V. Tocker, F. Berndt, R. Richards. Due to a tradition of nobody winning 2 major prizes, the highest Scorer of the day didn’t win the highest scoring man prize, as he was in the 2nd place team. Well done to Norman Woods who scored a magnificent 42 points.

TMGS Match Report Captains Day, Campoamor 23th April 2014. St George’s Day saw 52 members and guests of TMGS having their Captain’s Day at Campoamor Golf Course which was, as ever, in very good condition but still a tough track to negotiate. The day itself was, as is this time of the year, bathed in sunshine and even though the wind picked up, it was still a very warm day and the sight of Viv Rickers at the 10th with a cold drink and beef sarnies, pork pies, sausage rolls plus her own special bread pudding was a delight to behold and quenched many a thirst and filled empty bellies. Out-going Captain Mick Kennedy sponsored the 5 NTP’s and these were won by Michael Moore (twice) and Les Wilton – also twice with the 5th being collected by local man Ray Scott. We also had a Longest Drive for the Ladies and the Men and these were won by Richard Wale (The men one just in case anyone was wondering) and the Ladies prize was won by Paula Hagart. We did have prizes for the Best Front and Back Nine, but sadly these had to be scrapped due the donor of the said prizes leaving the bottles in the back seat of his car and we all know what happens to bottles of wine when the temperatures reach in

excess of 30 in cars, yes dear readers, the donor now has a pink back seat to his Mercedes. Best Visitors prize was claimed by David Richards with 37 points. Onto the main section and once again, the Silver crew recorded the better scores and it needed 34 points for birthday boy, Roger (hyggelig mann) Nilsen to claim 4th spot, one behind Robbie Rae’s 35 who was AGAIN, beaten by his better half Olga Haubner with a very nice 36 points and boy oh boy, didn’t she let him know that he was, once again, walking behind her. The winner was local golfer at Campoamor George Chapman with 37 points. To claim 4th spot in the Gold Division, 33 points were needed and these points were achieved by Mick Moore and John Eye who took 3rd place on count-back. Countback also applied to 1st and 2nd places and this time Darren Hancock lost out to Paula Hagart, both with 36 points. Photo: Silver category winners, including 60th birthday boy Roger Nilsen (red shirt) Our next game, Wednesday 30th April 2013, see’s us at Roda, so if you fancy a game just look at our website www.tmgs.org or call the Fixture Secretary on 966 719 604.
