Aparatele din gama LC încorporează un invertor sinusoidal pur și un încărcător DC de baterie, iar cele din SLU încorporează pe lângă acestea și un încărcător solar suplimentar.


Cum funcționează acest aparat back up? Aparatul se conectează la INPUT la o priză, iar la OUTPUT se leagă la o baterie (de preferat cu ciclu profund). Atâta timp, cât rețeaua electrică furnizează curent electric, aparatul preia acest curent și îl transmite mai departe la consumator, iar încărcătorul de baterie menține încărcarea bateriei (sau încarcă pe acesta, dacă este descărcată). Modelele SLU prin încărcătorul solar încorporat completează încărcarea bateriei și de la panourile fotovoltaice. Încărcătorul solar funcționează independent de redresorul DC, deci chiar dacă aparatul nu este conectat la reteaua electrică, bateria este incărcată de la panourile fotovoltaice. Când se întrerupe curentul, aparatul trece automat la modul de baterie (inverter mode), asigurând curent electric fără intrerupere aparatelor electrice. Când invertorul sesizează, că se reia furnizarea curentului electric în rețea, automat se deconectează de la baterie, și va furniza curent electric de la priză, încărcând bateria. Mețiune: bateria nu este încorporata în acest aparat, ea se alege in funcție de necesitatea energetică a consumatorilor. Acestea nu sunt dispozitive UPS propriu zise!
