Nationwide sales team playing the field

Jane Bell is the most recently appointed member of the team and is based around Scotland and Northern England. Having previously worked in the communications industry as well as for service provider Sky, Jane is no stranger to the digital revolution which has propelled the TV and Satellite industry into the 21st Century. Just before she joined Solutions Group, Jane was awarded the Williams Sound Plaque for her outstanding contribution to sales at Williams Sound Corp during 2000/2001.

John Riley has been a Field Sales Executive for Solutions Group for nearly a year now. John comes from a background in electrical retailing and has an extensive knowledge of the TV and Satellite industry which he has shared with installers and retailers in the midlands area since joining the company. Working as the Field Sales Executive in North London and the Home Counties is Rebecca Pestell. Rebecca joined the company two years ago and received much of her product training whilst working behind the busy trade counter at Solutions Group, Northampton. Now she works closely with Solutions Group depots based in the area to ensure new and existing customers in the area receive the latest product information.

David Prague has joined Solutions Group to head up the company’s recently expanded sales force and he firmly believes that Field Sales Executives play a key part in building on the success of installation and retail businesses. “As Solutions Group grows from strength to strength, we want to bring our wide range of services to the doorsteps of more and more installers and retailers in the UK. Our FSE’s are an integral part of the company and work closely with our depot staff around the country to ensure customers are aware of the latest technological advancements, product developments and industry up dates. The Field Sales team have a responsibility not only to emphasise the suitability of products in order to help businesses make the right choices, but also to offer the goods at the right prices.

David was heavily involved with the launch, in the late eighties, of mass-market satellite to major retailers and satellite distributors. He also launched the Grundig GRD range of analogue receivers to the Industry. “The introduction of Vision is a very exciting project for us because this new range has been launched through Solutions Group with our company as the exclusive UK distributor. I firmly believe that good customer service and high product reliability are behind the foundations of a market leading range.” David has also been involved in retail and TV engineering so is aware of how important support and advice from a reliable distributor actually is. “We do offer an extensive product range but this is only part of the service available to our customers. System designs, in-house repairs and a reliable delivery system are all services which make a retailer’s life easier.”

Solutions expands headquarters

Newly appointed Field Sales Executive for South West England and Wales is Richard Quinlan. Richard brings to the team a wealth of experience having been a Retail/Area Manager for a South West Chain of TV, Satellite and Hi-Fi retailers. Richard joins the team from an electrical distribution company so understands the importance of providing installers and retailers with a service to suit their individual needs.

Since it opened in 1990, the Solutions Group trade counter in Northampton has become one of the busiest TV & Satellite outlets in the country, offering over 4000 products to installation professionals.

Since joining the company, Spencer has developed a strong customer base within the region, helping to keep retail businesses ahead of the rest.

New to Solutions Group Congleton is Angie Tunstall. Angie has also participated in the product training programme available to Solutions Group staff and is now able to deal with customer enquiries quickly and effectively. Richard Parsons is the new face at Solutions Group, Woolwich.

Futuristic refurbishment for Sky Call Centre The first Sky Customer Contact Centre to be refurbished under the Sky CRM programme has been described by Sky executives as a ‘fundamental requirement providing a major investment in Sky people’. Sky Livingston 2 is now an ultra-modern and unique centre incorporating workstations which provide flat screen technology and a Sky digibox, with Sky channels presented as a window on the PC monitor to assist with viewing enquiries. Sky has claimed to have achieved its original brief which included creating an environment where people would enjoy going to work, where they would feel part of Sky and where they would want to go the extra mile for customers. An additional uninterrupted power supply (UPS) has ben integrated into the centre’s facilities to ensure a seamless service between agent and customer in the event of a power failure. Solutions Group Managing Director Grant Lester and Product Specialist Tom Carnie were recently invited to view the new facilities, which were officially opened on the 14th October 2001.

“It’s an astonishing step forward for digital satellite television”, said Grant Lester. “The attention to detail, particularly focusing on the needs of staff during working and training time, is the best I have ever seen! For the 500 or so people who work at Livingston2, it is anything but a traditional call centre.” Call centre teams and visitors experience a number of images projected on to the walls which provide bright reminders of Sky’s brand values and product innovation. Tom Carnie was particularly impressed with the computerised lighting system: “It offers subtle lighting changes throughout the day with over 1000 combinations of colours and intensities.” After following careful studies, Sky found that by linking lighting to employees workload, efficiency had been improved significantly, with staff comfort levels and job satisfaction reaching an all time high. “Overall, Sky have produced a world class service, which has received an outstanding response from its staff, customers and industry professionals”, continued Tom.

Richard comes from a background in installation maintenance and is keen to offer advice and technical support to riggers in the south London area. His enthusiasm for the industry has been developed through his experience as an engineer. Matt Reeves joins the accounts department at Headquarters and will be working alongside credit controller Louise Smith. Matt previously worked for a leading communications service provider where he gained in depth experience of group and account management.

A new interactive games and chat service aimed at 18-35 year olds has been added to the Sky Interactive menu.

It’s called ‘Yo- Yo’ and has games, competitions and quizzes which can be played in groups or across sub-channels. The new service can be found by pressing the ‘Interactive’ button on the Sky remote control and choosing option 8. 100

Low cost coax cable now available

A new low cost version of the high performance coax cable CT100 from Raydex/ CDT is now available.

The new CS100 has a reduced copper content making it a cheaper option for more economical installations. The cable, which is BSkyB and RN approved, has the same dimension as the CT100, along with the reliable foil braid, which means riggers can use their existing “F” type twist on and crimp connectors.

It has similar specifications to CT100 including the return loss ratio, and is suitable for broadband satellite and TV transmission systems. Call your nearest Solutions Group depot to find out how you can make more savings on coax cable. UK manufacturer Allicraft has recently introduced a galvanised Cable Reel Holder to protect reels of cable and reduce the chances of it being damaged. The reel, which will hold any standard sized cable drum, allows cable to be dispensed easier and more efficiently.

Line powered solution for UHF and IF distribution

The recently launched head end amplifier from the Philips Switchline GII range has proved to be a popular option for installers requiring a low cost, cascadable solution for small and medium sized line powered systems.

The Amplifier 9244U can be used instead of the Amplifier 9444 where a maximum current of 2 Amps line power feeding is required. Whereas the existing Amplifier 9444 requires the use of one or more Amp 8331 Power Injectors to provide current for line power feeding, the new Amplifier 9244U has a 2 Amp line power feeding supply built into it as standard. This makes it the ideal choice where line power feeding requirements are low and unlikely to increase in the foreseeable future.

It covers the bandwidth 950-2150MHz and has a gain of 24-30dB (24 at 950MHz and 30 at 2150MHz). The unit's maximum output level is 114dBuV (2 Channels) and 102dBuV (30 channels). It has a noise figure of 10dB with an attenuation adjustment of 15dB (on each output). The LNB supply is 400mA and the physical layout of the unit is the same as the Amplifier 9444. For bigger systems the range has the ability to supply large collective housing. 120 points off a single headend amplifier (AMP94444) is easily achievable with 2 line amplifiers (AMP9853 ), 2 power supplies (AMP8331) and 10x12 output switches (SWI6512) with a 50-60 metre subscriber drop cable The range of GII equipment was designed with the specific requirements of the UK market in mind. MATV systems in the UK are typically fed from a single amplifier with one power supply. When the system is upgraded to IRS, adding additional power supplies can be expensive, but by using a line powered system, the overall cost of the installation can be considerably reduced. Digital terrestrial transmission (DTT) also played a major part in the development of Switchline GII. Up until now, most of the systems available had been designed to give an analogue terrestrial signal at the wall outlet of 60dBµV. However, because DTT signals are typically 20dB lower than analogue, the level required at the wall outlet for analogue is now closer to 70dBµV to give a digital level of around 50dBµV. Through the development of the GII range, Philips have been able to deliver good quality signals with a high output level. This is achieved by using active switches which have between 0 and +4 db gain as well as high output level capabilities. The terrestrial signal is kept separate from the satellite IF signal and is diplexed with the satellite signal in the switch, allowing better control of the UHF signal through the system. All the input levels to the switches can be individually adjusted with built in variable attenuators, giving maximum control over the output signal. Each switch then only requires to be fed from one tap value and the adjustment is achieved on the switch and not by graded taps.

The Switchline GII range offers high quality 5 and 9 input systems with a range of switch output option. It enables installers to choose the right product for each application and position the switches anywhere in the building not just where power is available. ITV signs deal with Sky Digital

New “F” type crimp connectors provide secure fixings

ITV has finally signed agreements with BSkyB for carriage of ITV1 and ITV2 on Sky Digital.

A new range of high quality “F” type crimp connectors for CT100, WF100, CS 100 and similar sized cables are now available to riggers from Solutions Group.

ITV1 was launched on the 21st November on digital satellite with 16 regional services, comprising each of the 14 ITV regions and separate services for Border England and Border Scotland and for HTV Wales and HTV West. A Conditional Access (CA) agreement means that ITV1 will be available to all satellite viewers, with the main service in each region available on the Sky Digital Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) on channel 103. Viewers who usually receive more than one regional service can find the other services on 963 to 964.

ITV2 is also now available on channel 226. Carriage on Sky Digital will increase ITV2's distribution by over 150%. Stuart Prebble, ITV Chief Executive said: “This is good news for satellite viewers, who will be able to watch ITV1 and ITV2 through the Sky Digital EPG with digital quality pictures and full programme information. It's also good for ITV, which benefits from the “digital dividend” which we receive for encouraging digital viewing. Over time ITV will also benefit from revenues from interactive programming and advertising. “I'm delighted that ITV2 will now be available to the majority of multi-channel viewers. The channel is already a growth story, and this dramatic increase in distribution will allow it to realise its potential. In this competitive multichannel world this deal will increase both the distribution and visibility of our channels.”

The range consists of two connectors which provide an alternative to the traditional twist-on ones and are general-purpose, making them suitable for permanent and secure connections in all types of applications. The first has a deep thread for secure fixing to the mating “F” type socket and a broad flanged nut for ease of tightening. Cables can be easily and correctly prepared using a suitable coaxial cable stripping tool. It is then a simple matter of pushing on the connector, until the dielectric is flush with the inner face of the connector, and crimping with a suitable crimping tool. The result is a very professional looking, secure and high performance connection that

will give many years of reliable service, even in situations where connections are disconnected and reconnected on a regular basis.

The second connector is also of the same high quality and functionality but has the added benefit of an internal “O” ring, providing moisture proof connections. This gives added protection to connections exposed to possible moisture ingress such as equipment housed within external equipment cabinets or “F” connector equipped masthead amplifiers. Whilst connections exposed to the elements, such as LNB connections, should continue to be protected by means of self amalgamating tape, the use of the moisture barrier “F” connectors will provide a second line of defence against possible moisture ingress.

Labgear provide digilink for remote rooms The new digital satellite remote control extender by Labgear is now available from Solutions Group. The infra-red Digilink is an economical and discreet option for those customers wanting to control a Sky Digibox from another room. No base unit is needed and the digilink works directly via the RF-OUT 2 connector on the Digibox. In a Digilink equipped system, RF-OUT 2 of the Digibox must connect directly to the Labgear distribution unit, in other words the Digibox must be the last item in the UHF loop-through chain.

Changes for ITV Digital installers and Retailers

A new pricing structure and other important changes have been introduced by Service provider ITV Digital in an attempt to increase the number of viewers further following the success of its advertising campaign featuring Al the monkey.

As part of their commitment to bring customers the best possible TV entertainment, Discovery Channel has now joined ITV Digital’s primary channel line-up, replacing Discovery Kids and Discovery wings. A new entry price point for ITV Digital pay monthly customers has also been set. The two new Primary channel options include any 6 available Primary channels for £12 per month or all available Primary channels for £14 per month. ITV Digital has acknowledged that pre-paid customers have difficulty in choosing which 6 Primary channels they would like to watch.

The Standard Aerial Upgrade fee has also been reduced from £40 to £25.

Therefore, this option has been replaced by a new pre-paid product offering customers all available Primary channels for 12 months. On the first of November ITV Digital also introduced a £25 one-off connection fee on all products. For pay monthly customers, this connection fee will be taken with their first months direct debit payment. For pre-paid customers, this connection fee will be added to the pre-paid box price and paid in-store.

ITV Digital has advised that the current Customer Agreement and in store customer leaflets should be replaced with the revised leaflets.

A new customer referrals policy has been initiated which requires a £50 refundable deposit from customers who are not able to confirm their residential status when they purchase a pay monthly product. This has been put in place to help administer its collection and replacement of faulty boxes, free of charge. Digital TV offer of ‘6 Primary channels free for 6 months’ has been removed and any Digital TV customer can now sign up to ITV Digital channels and services as a pay monthly subscriber. It is just a case of filling out the pay monthly Customer Agreement and following the steps for digital TV.

Two types of filter are available, SF4 for channels contained in Band 4 (Ch 21 to 37) and SF5 for Band 5 channels (Ch 38 to 68). The filters can either be adjusted on site, using a suitable Field Strength Analyser, or alternatively Solutions Group can adjust them for you, according to your specifications prior to despatch. The filters can be adjusted to stop either 1 or 2 channels as required. Attenuation on 1 channel is 30dB and 20dB on two channels.

I have been asked to install a Sky Digibox in a Health Club but the TV to which it is to be connected is 60 metres from where the box is going. I’m going to use CT100 cable but I’m concerned about the loss on the cable. Is there a simple way to amplify the signal? T Bishop, Wolverhampton

On 60 metres of CT100 cable, and assuming you set the Digibox output to channel 68, you would have approximately 12dB of loss between the Digibox and the TV. As the Digibox RF output is approximately 65dBuV you would end up with a very grainy picture on the TV. One option is to use a 12dB gain pre-amplifier, such as a Fracarro MP45, in conjunction with suitable connectors, such as “F” female to “TV” female adapter, “F” male to male adapter 45A F and “F” female to “F” female. By utilising the RF2 DC power as well, this problem can be overcome. This will give an output level of approximately 79dBuV from the Digibox which, when taking into account the cable loss, will give a level of 67dBuV at the TV. This will give an acceptable picture quality.

Having tried to align a SKY digi dish using my meter, I’m getting a lock on my meter but no channels on the SKY digibox. Please tell me how this can happen. C Blake, Southampton

I came across ASTRA 1D at 24.2deg east. I had to look twice to make sure that I wasn't on ASTRA 2 at 28.2deg east. Without careful attention you would think you were on 28.2. The transponders that are active on 1D are of the same frequency as that of ASTRA 2D at 28.2east. I have a hotel owner in Shropshire who does not want his Welsh channel S4C to be distributed to each room. As this is a channel that he receives from his normal aerial, is there any way in which I can prevent this signal from getting into the distribution system? It is not practical to remove this channel from each TV set. S Connor, Hereford

As you can see horizontal low band is very much the same as 28.2deg east. The FEC on Unaohm meters are auto detecting and it would be possible without thinking to actually align on 24.2east if you were in horizontal low band and not realise that your FEC is actually 3/4. It is very easy to ignore the FEC when we are looking for ASTRA 2 because we do it all the time.

S4C is most likely to be transmitting from Moel-y-Parc. Once this has been confirmed, and once the channel number has been identified, it is a simple matter of putting a 'Channel Stop' filter into the aerial lead. The filter needs to be adjusted to stop the channel in question only which will prevent it from entering the distribution system.

I have recently installed a Sky Digibox at a customers premises and connected it to sgroup solution

From the information given I suspect that there are too many devices connected to the telephone line. BT lines have a restriction on the number of devices that can be connected to them simultaneously. The restriction relates to a maximum REN (Ringer Equivalence Number) of 4. Each device connected to the line has a specific REN number, and it is the total of these that must not add up to more than 4. The REN for a particular device should be stated on that device. The length of the line, in other words the distance from the telephone exchange to the customers premises, will also have an effect upon the number of simultaneous devices, so whilst a total REN of 6 may work in one location a REN of 5 will not work at another. If this is the case, then the customer will have to disconnect one of their other devices in order for the digibox not to have an effect. If the customer has signed the agreement with BIB Marketing then it is a requirement that the digibox remains connected to a telephone line for a minimum of 12 months from the date of installation.

an existing telephone point adjacent to the digibox. The customer has now contacted me to say that people have been telephoning her and not getting an answer even though she has been in. Apparently she says that people get the normal ringing tone but her telephone does not ring. Somebody suggested that she unplug the digibox, which she did, and the phone now works fine. I have been back to the customer and changed the digibox but the same thing happens. As soon as the digibox is disconnected all of the other phones and the answering machine etc work fine. Vision, the brand new product range which takes a fresh look at the electronic components that make IRS, MATV and SMATV systems, has taken the industry by storm since its launch in November. This unique and exciting range has been designed specifically for the serious professional installer who requires 'high quality, solid engineering and simple uncluttered design for reliable performance and incredible value'. Here UK Product Manager Richard Stallworthy explains the features unique to the Vision range. To launch a product range successfully, it must offer the industry something different, providing professionals with additional benefits and new solutions. Vision is just that. It takes a completely fresh look at products for the whole systems market. The Vision range has been built with special attention paid to digital performance in MATV, SMATV and IRS systems. Much of the equipment on today's market was developed before the digital TV and radio age and has not moved with the times. Vision products have also been designed with a higher mechanical and electrical specification for systems use where reliability and performance are paramount. With a range of dishes, aerials, masthead devices, MATV/ IRS amplifiers, CATV amplifiers and IRS multi-switches, the systems installer can be confident he is using the best available equipment. For example, most antennas used today on systems are domestic models which are not necessarily robust enough to be relied upon for long-term provision of signals to multiple dwellings. The Vision range of aerials are built with more substantial materials like the 18mm magnesium/aluminium boom for extra rigidity and the 5mm wire rod elements, which give lower wind loading, yet are strong enough to withstand birds using the aerial as a launch pad.

The MATV and CATV engineer can choose from 10 models of amplifier designed around digital TV. With features such as inter-stage level controls (V51-104), push-pull amplifier designs and high level screening, the Vision range of amplifiers can provide models for all situations.

These rod elements are staked into the boom using a patented process so that they are permanently fixed and cannot come out. Most domestic aerial elements are clipped, screwed or riveted onto the boom, which risks the element becoming detached after a while and thus degrading the performance. Vision aerials come in 13,19, 27 and 48 elements with large reflectors and hot dip galvanised clamps for long life. All Vision aerials have a balun for excellent cable matching and come with a choice of either a saddle & clamp or an “F” connector. Junction boxes on the Vision aerials are designed to face downwards so that any moisture falls away from the cable connector. The IRS installer is catered for with the 2 steel pole mount dishes which have heavy galvanised brackets and a double rim to keep the dish profile in shape. The Vision range also includes some very high quality masthead amplifiers (V20 range) and frequency combiners. Special attention has been paid to screening for digital TV with the use of fully screened, precision die-cast modules with “F” connectors, mounted in a very high quality weatherproof plastic housing. This weatherproof housing is designed in one piece with a latched door to prevent installers accidentally dropping parts off the ladder.

Most apartment blocks in the UK only have around 8, 10 or 12 flats and the V52-100 with its 2 outputs, inter-stage level control and split band VHF/UHF amplification, can easily provide signal in systems of this size. It is also fully screened with 13/26dB gain and 105dBuV maximum output, so with a trade price of £9.99 (ex-VAT), it undoubtedly offers exceptional value. Installers are always looking for value when costing installations. Most installations require at least FM and UHF, which need combining. But now it is becoming common to have DAB radio and security cameras specified on systems as well. The new V51-105 and V51-106 offer multi-input amplifiers at very competitive prices. At the top of the range is the superb V50-100 CATV amplifier for larger systems and networks. This highly specified amplifier uses Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) output devices in a push-pull configuration for super linearity and low noise. The V50-100 can be configured for reversepath operation, which is ideal in hotel and cable TV applications that demand active or passive circuitry. A complete range of internal modules can be specified including diplexers, preamplifiers, inter-stage level controls and input and output splitters. The V50 line up also offers mains or line-powered options. The diecast case ensures superb screening as well as excellent weather protection to IP64 rating.

All Vision amplifiers are fully screened and use the highest quality SMD components for reliability and stability. In all cases the power supply is in a separate section, away from the screened amplifier to minimise interference and impulse noise. Mains and DC powered 5 input SAT/TV amplifiers for 5 wire IRS systems have also been included in the range. The V55-100 and V55-101 employ push-pull amplifiers and inter-stage level controls as specified for digital applications. Both models

have built in satellite slope and adjustable gain for satellite and terrestrial signals. The V55-100 is designed to power a quattro LNB and the line powered V55-101 when used as a repeater amplifier.

Line amplifiers (V60 range), active splitters (V70 range) and 5 x 8, 5 x 12 and 5 x 16 multiswitches (V75 range) are also part of the extensive product line up. The 12 and 16 way multi-switches have input level controls on the satellite inputs to enable equalisation of signals from each polarity and frequency band.

The range would not be complete without a choice of modulators for SMATV and security applications. The V40-102 VSB modulator comes in a modular format so that the engineer has the flexibility to build a system to suit his needs. Because each modulator is fully agile and employs a SAW filter it can be used in systems where adjacent channel operation is required. The V40 range also includes a power supply, mounting rack and remote control which are required to complete the installation. If it's a budget cost effective modulator you are looking for then the V40-104 offers remarkable value. This stand-alone unit, with integral PSU, has a LED digital display for setting the required channel and level parameters. This model can be set up easily and can be locked against unauthorised setting. It employs a nonvolatile memory should there be a power cut. The V40-104 is fully agile between channels 21 and 68 and has RF loop through so that a number of channels can be combined. This high quality unit uses DSB modulation and at a trade price of £32.30 (ex VAT), it’s certainly a cost effective solution for smaller systems. TV link eye moves into a new era

The TV Link Eye system, introduced by Global Communications, has long been popular with installers and end users alike.

It has generated a comprehensive range of user friendly products tailored to a wide variety of applications. From the standard 'Eye' through to the ever-popular 2, 4 & 7 way distribution amplifiers and the 4 & 8 way Loft boxes, the range of products offers a simple and cost effective solution to any distribution requirement.

Global Communications have recently catapulted the TV Link Eye system in to a new era. The first step was the introduction of two new products, the 'Amp Adder' and the 'Plus Combiner'. The 'Amp Adder', like so many of Global's products, is a very simple but effective idea. It is ideally suited to the situation where an existing distribution amplifier has run out of capacity, or a further amplifier is needed in another part of the distribution system. The unit fits between an output of the existing amplifier and the input of the second amplifier. It passes DC to power the TV Link Eyes, the RF signals and the data stream from the TV Link Eye back to the digibox. To avoid overloading the amplifiers, or the connected receivers, the unit ensures a 'unity gain' to the RF signal. The second product is another very simple but effective solution for those installations having both a standard Sky Digibox and Sky+ box in the same installation.

The unit combines the RF2 outputs from the two boxes and allows them to be sent along a single cable to a single TV Link Eye. By using the appropriate remote control at the TV Link Eye end it is then possible to control each box independently.

The 'Second RF Outlet Power' needs to be turned ON in each box, one supply being used to power the 'Plus Combiner, the other powering the TV Link Eyes and line powered distribution amplifiers in the system. One box has its RF1 output connected to the main TV and the other is connected by SCART, with the aerial input and RF1 output on this box being left spare or, preferably, terminated in 75 ohms. At the remote receivers it is only a matter of selecting the appropriate channel on the TV and using the right remote control. More new and innovative products are also being launched by Global Communications as part of this initiative and will be reviewed in the next issue of Riggers Digest so watch this space. A Riggers Rough Guide to DiSEqC Motorised Installations

“You either get motorised systems, or you don’t.” True or false? According to Mark Bartlett at Solutions Group, Dorset, installing a motorised system has never been so straight forward and it’s not a case of ‘getting’ them, it’s just a case of using the right equipment and following a few simple steps.

1 Select your installation site carefully!!!! 2 There must be a clear line of sight between the required satellites and the entire surface of the dish. The line of sight must be free from obstructions, such as trees, roof tiles etc. 3 It is very important to make sure the mount is fixed to a perfectly vertical mast. Time spent measuring this accurately will save you hours later on. 4 Set the DiSEqC mount back to zero degrees by connecting the receiver to the mount. The receiver must be on for the mount to move. It’s easier to do this before fixing the H-H mount onto the mast. 5 Once you have done this, the mount should then be disconnected from the receiver. 6 Fit the H-H mount onto the mast and do the nuts up finger tight. 7 Use an inclonometer to set the H-H mount angle. See picture below.

9 Fit the dish on to the front of the H-H mount arm and tighten the nuts. The middle of the dish clamp must be lined up with the centre line on the H-H mount arm. See picture to the right. 10 Connect the LNB to a good quality meter, such as an EP314 from Unaohm or a handheld AD 70 meter. Firstly you will need to find Intelsat 707 at 1° west. See below for other suggested meter settings.

13 When adjusting these two movements, use the meter to measure the signal. Once the signal has peaked, tighten the dish elevation.

17 By following these instructions accurately you should now have installed your dish on the arc.

14 Next, move the dish back east by 1° by moving the H-H mount clamp attached to the vertical mast. This will give you the south position required. See picture below.

18 To test your installation, re-connect the receiver to the H-H mount.

15 This is a small movement and with experience, can be guessed fairly accurately. Take note of the signal loss on the meter which occurs when this small movement is achieved.

22 If you cannot improve the signal by leaning the dish back and forth then you have probably correctly found one side of the arc for the dish.

16 Tighten the nuts on the H-H mount clamp attached to mast.

19 With the satellite meter still connected, select Astra 28.2E on the meter. 20 Move the dish east by pressing the small east button underneath the H-H mount. 21 Peak the signal on the meter for Astra 28.2E until you believe it is as good as you can get by moving both east and west.

23 With the satellite meter still connected select Hispasat 30w on the meter. 24 Move the dish west by pressing the small west button underneath the H-H mount. 25 Peak the signal on the meter for Hispasat 30W until you believe it is as good as you can get by moving both east and west. 26 If you cannot improve the signal by leaning the dish back and forth then you have again correctly found the arc for the dish.
