Employment Laws Assessment
Prospect Hospital has had a busy week and needs to make a lot of updates to their policies and procedures. First, there was the termination of four cafeteria workers that spear headed organizing a union and then also a charge of discrimination filed against the CEO of the company.
During this assessment we will evaluate if the hospital broke any laws when they firedthe cafeteria workers and if the discrimination charged needs to be addressed. Finally we will determine what the future of the hospital looks like when hiring a large number of staff.
Prospect Hospital illegally terminated the four cafeteria works that helped create the union, section seven of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) states that employees have the right to self-organize to form a union (National, 2018).
