Colon Cancer
Colon cancer is most prevalent in individuals over 50 years old, particularly when there isa hereditary component. Most colon cancers are slow growing, thus easy to detect with screenings (Huether, McCance, Brashers, & Rote, 2017).
Colorectal cancer symptoms often varydepending on where the tumor is located within the colon; however, pain, bloody stools, distention of the abdomen, vomiting, and changes in bowel habits are among the most common (Huether, McCance, Brashers, & Rote, 2017).
Colon cancer is typically treated with chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgical interventions (Huether, McCance, Brashers, & Rote, 2017).
