Social Development Among Adolescents: Brandon’s Case
Introduction
In social work practice, among the core group of individuals to assist are adolescents. Challenges affecting this population include sexual and alcohol and drugs abuse.
Notably, these issues affect their social, physical and mental wellbeing. It is therefore critical for socialworkers to establish the source of these challenges which aids in understanding how they can be averted. This is important in promoting their welfare at the adult stage (Roose & De Bie, 2008).
While establishing the source of these challenges, one of the major aspects to focus onis the environment which introduces the ecological model and in particular the person-in-environment perspective. This paper, therefore, applies this model in examining Brandon’s case who is a victim of childhood sexual abuse.
