What is psychosocial development?
Psychosocial development is a comprehensive psychological theory that was created by a German- American psychologist named Erik Erikson, who was a student of Sigmund Freud, while he was observing native American tribes of the plains and the pacific coast (Dewey, 2019).
Erik Erikson’s theory suggests that a persons individual identity or their ego evolves through life in balance with the broad sociocultural pressures (Dewey, 2019).
Erik Erickson’s theory is in contrast of Sigmund Freud’s theory, where he believed that identity was shaped through psychological forces that are experienced mainly before the age of twenty (Dewey, 2019).
In my paper today I am going to be discussing psychosocial activities for infants, early childhood, and adolescent, while using Erik Erikson’s theory.T
