Assignment 5 –Animal Diversity
The animals that inhibit the earth today, although it has not always been this way, are amazingly diverse in their structures and functions.
In order to understand how this incredible diversity came about, it is important to first study the evolutionary relationships between all eukaryotic organisms and the development of their acquired characteristics in relation to one another.
The acquisition of new traits is what helped make the Kingdom Animalia suitable in new environments and spread throughout the earth.
This study spanned all the way from sponges (Phylum Porifera), which lack even true tissues, all the way to mammals (Phylum Chordata), which has a huge array of members including humans.
The outgroup of the study were the choanoflagellates, which are unicellular organisms that lack almost every advanced characteristic. I chose https://www.solvedcollegepapers.com/product/biol-112-assignmen5
