Simple Distillation and Gas Chromatography
In this experiment, volatile compounds that could be converted to the gas phase at reasonable temperatures were purified using the simple distillation technique.
After distillation, gas chromatography was used to determine the proportions of the compounds in each fraction. The data for hexane/heptane was recorded, while another group provided the data for hexane/octane.
Three fractions of the substance were taken and the temperatures were recorded. In the first distillation period, the temperature range was proven to be 26.9°C- 35.9°C.
The temperature range in the second distillation period was 35.9°C-37.4°C. Lastly, the third distillation period hada temperature range of 37.4°C-26.8°C.
The liquids were stored in vials and were taken to the gas chromatogram for analyzing. The relative proportions of each sample
