Introduction
Sound is defined to be a vibration which disperses into an audible wave of pressures through mediums, such as air (Sound Wikipedia 2019). In audio signal processing, the same principle canbe electronically manipulated to convert the sound information into data which be visualized, interpreted and analyzed.
After manipulation, one can view the loudness of an audio signal by interpreting the amplitude of the sound wave over time. Moreover, the frequency content of the signal is also observable. The Fast Fourier Transform theorem (FFT) can be used to see how much of each frequency is present in the sound signal.
This process is also used to uncover any noise or unwanted signals present. Thus, filters are used which can block or allow certain selected frequencies to be discarded or analyzed.
