Rhetor: While it seems that the prisoners are the rhetors, it is actually a conversation between Socrates and Glaucon, who is Plato’s brother. Audience: Other philosophers Subject: All we perceive are imperfect “reflections” of the ultimate Forms, which subsequently represent truth and reality.
Context: Philosophy and metaphors Response: Being unaware of the fact that this piece was told in a conversational form, I was veryconfused in the beginning of my reading.
