It is true that we dream to satisfy our own wishes, file away memories, develop neural pathways, make sense of neural static, and reflect cognitive development. But why is it that certain dreams are so outrageous? Do we subconsciously attach meanings to the nonsense we dream?

According to the text, “Everything psychological is simultaneously biological”. This brings us to the disappointing conclusion that our every idea, every mood, and every urge is purely a biological happening.
Even love, one of our most basic emotions, is controlled by the brain. So if all these emotions take place in the brain, why is it that we feel heart ache? How can something be so painful to experience, that we can physically feel that hurt in our bodies?
