The Role of Women in Ancient Egypt
Every community in history has been influenced by both men and women to varying extents. During the many years of the kingdom of Egypt, women certainly played a role despite men’s dominance in many areas of their society.
In the following paper, the role of women and their lives in society in terms of government, religion, military, business, the household and personal lives during the New Kingdom (1550 BC to 1070 BC) in Ancient Egypt will be investigated and discussed in terms of a just, good and sustainable community.
Government in Egypt was in essence a military state headed by the pharaoh. There is little presence of women in this area of society, in fact women were not allowed to hold positions in the government (Robins 111).
