Paradigms Shifts in Broadcasting and Streaming Media-Digital
Before 2009, all televisions were analog. There did not seem to be much of an issue with analog, we presumed there wasn’t anything to be improved upon. That is how it tends to be with paradigm shifts. People get very comfortable with the current way of things.
They fall into a rut that what they have is what is right. However, in 2009 the Digital Television Transition began. Congress actually set it in motion in 1996. Every channel was to have one analog and one digital broadcast. The deadline for complete digital broadcasting was on June 12, 2009.
The purpose of upgrading to digital televisionwas that the picture was clearer, there were multiple programs and better sound. Not only that, parts of the broadcasting spectrum was free because analogue took up more air space than digital. PSAs,
