TEENAGER CHARGED WITH USE OF MOLOTOV COCKTAIL Waldorf, Maryland (April 29, 2011) – Deputies have charged a teen with use of a Molotov Cocktail. The seventeen year old Waldorf male constructed and used the device in a parking lot of the Westlake High School when he lit it and threw it at a Charles County Sheriff's Department marked patrol vehicle.

The 8:45 AM incident at 3300 Middletown Road did not result in any damage to the vehicle nor did it disrupt school activities. A teacher observed the incident and confronted the juvenile who then fled the scene. He was later taken into custody without incident. The vehicle was being used by the Deputy who was assigned to the school as its resource officer.

The arrest was part of a joint investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Charles County Sheriff's Department. The juvenile has been charged with attempted 2nd degree arson, and the manufacturing of a destructive device. The Sheriffs Department is also forwarding charges related to the incident. The juvenile remains in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services pending a court hearing.
