TEENAGERS ARESTED FOR EARLY MORNING ARSON OF A VACANT DWELLING CHARLES COUNTY, MD (July 17, 2011) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have arrested two teenagers involved with burglarizing and setting fire to a vacant dwelling located at 4203 Bluebird Drive in Waldorf this morning at approximately 3:00 a.m. Charles County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene after observing an orange glow coming from the interior of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished by sheriff’s deputies prior to the arrival of the Waldorf VFD. Additionally, two suspects were seen running from the residence and were caught and detained for questioning shortly thereafter. Investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to the scene and determined the home had been burglarized and a fire had been set in the living room floor area. Damage estimates from both the burglary and subsequent fire are estimated at $2,500. No injuries were reported during the incident. Eighteen year old Kavon Desales Dorsey was transported to Charles County Detention Center and the seventeen year old male was transported to Cheltenham Youth Facility. Both teenagers were charged with Arson 1st Degree and Burglary 1st Degree. If convicted of the charges they each face 50 years imprisonment and/or $50,000 in fines.
