Trash Can Fire at Middle School November 30, 2012 WALDORF, CHARLES COUNTY – On Thursday, November 29 , Deputy State Fire Marshal’s were notified of a fire incident at Mattawoman Middle School off of Berry Road in Waldorf. The fire occurred on Wednesday, November 28th and was discovered by a student around 12:20 pm. The fire occurred in a trashcan located in a second level boy’s bathroom. Damage due to the fire was minimal and limited to the trashcan. The investigation revealed two male juveniles (both 13 years old) were involved in the incident. th
On November 30th, both juveniles were charged with Arson, First Degree and Malicious Burning, Second Degree. Both juveniles were released to their parent’s custody without incident at their residences. The juveniles are awaiting further action from the Department of Juvenile Services. ### Media contact: Caryn L.
