DWELLING FIRE VICTIM IDENTITY CONFIRMED CALVERT COUNTY, MD (March 13, 2015) – The District of Columbia Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the female victim from the March 9, 2015 dwelling fire. Carol S. Hausmann (68) succumbed to injuries she received during a fire inside her home located at 7650 Lake Shore Drive in Owings. Although valiant efforts were made by local off-duty firefighters to revive her at the scene, her injuries were too great for her to be able to survive her smoke inhalation injuries and she died at Medstar Washington Hospital. The 10:30 a.m. incident brought firefighters from Dunkirk, North Beach, Huntington, Prince Frederick, and multiple Anne Arundel County fire departments to the scene. The home was heavily damaged and collapsed during on-scene operations. Damage to structure and contents has been estimated at nearly $350,000. The cause for the fire remains under investigation.
