Bridal Style

Research local bridal boutiques Make appointments (if needed) and visit them at least 9 months before your wedding day. Visit as many as you can and take something to jot down notes and ideas. Different Styles suit different body shapes But dont be afraid to try on different styles and makes, that unappealing dress on the rack, or that style youve assumed you look horrible in, could look great on you! Try different colours Depending on your complexion and hair colour one shade will suit you better than another.

Dont look at the price tag Just because its out of your price range, doesnt mean you have to discard hope. Write notes and take a photo of the dress you might be able to find a remake of it online or a dress maker can create one for you. Take your bridesmaids/friends Make them feel important, and to help you decide, its always great to get a second opinion, and a different point of view, trust them to make good judgements.

HAVE FUN

My Wedding

Henry & Jessica Swanson Donnelly River, Perth Western Australia 14th August, 2012

10 10 Iris

Henry must surely win first prize for original proposals - he popped the question to his Chicagobased girlfriend Jessica after secretly flying to America and disguising himself as a reindeer handing out lollies at a christmas market. An unsuspecting Rae had her photo taken with him, and even cheekily tried to reach into his bag for some chocolate, before he dropped to one knee and held out his hand. A newspaper reporter witnessed the commotion, and the surprise proposal became a second page hit the following morning. A video was also posted on YouTube, and radio and television stations started clamouring for interviews. Amidst the engagement excitement, Rae somehow managed to pass her college exams, and the now famous lovebirds returned to Australia to start planning a winter wedding at a favourite Donnelly River holiday spot. The location three hours south of Perth would enable them to spend a full weekend with family and friends, and they created wonderful welcome packs for guests

featuring everything from gourmet cheese to animal feed for the local wildlife. Hours were also spent scouring second hand shops in search of decorations and mismatched clothing for the wedding party. “It took a few fashion parades the night before the ceremony to fit everything together. We laughed and ran around like crazy girls trying to match stockings and cardigans to the dresses we’d picked,” said Jessica.

It was a magical feeling, being literally surrounded by our closest friends and family The boys’ outfits were kept neutral in order to avoid clashing with the colourful bridesmaids, and Henry’s bespoke cufflinks featured old maps of Perth and Chicago, symbolising the two cities where the couple had spent their time apart. Jessica found her own stunning long-sleeved 1910 Irish appliqué lace gown in a favourite Chicago vintage store. “I walked out to the mirror and started crying. It was like nothing I’d ever seen

before, it fit perfectly, and I was in love,” she said. Light rain sprinkled down as she walked down the aisle beneath huge karri trees, but by the time the beaming bride reached Henry, the sun was shining. “It beamed down like a blessing from heaven,” Jessica said. After the couple exchanged vows, the band played a surprise upbeat song, ‘She Said Yes’, featuring lyrics to suit their story, which prompted spontaneous dancing in the middle of the ceremony. “It was a magical feeling, being literally surrounded by our closest friends and family, rejoicing, laughing and dancing to celebrate our marriage,”Henry said. My Wedding

Luke & Rachel Hartford All Saint’s Church, Brisbane Queensland 13th May 2013 The couple’s story began almost ten years ago on the Gold Coast, where they were celebrating the end of high school. “We met though a mutual friend,” Rachel says. “She told me to stay away from him because she thought he was a bit of a bad influence.” Lucky for Luke, Rachel ignored their friend’s advice. Eight years later, following an intimate anniversary dinner, Luke proposed. The couple was holidaying in Florida at the time. “It was a bit spur-of-the-moment,” Rachel says. Luke sealed the deal with a beautiful ring waiting for his wife-to-be in New York. After nine short months of planning their big day, Rachel and Luke became husband and wife in front of over 100 guests. The day kicked off with a church ceremony at All Saints’ Wickham Terrace in Brisbane where Rachel’s grandmother is a parishioner. The reception was held a short stroll away at Ill Centro on Eagle Street Pier with a spectacykar view of the Brisbane River. The itallian restaurant was styled to fell like a big, classy dinner party and included a smooth jazz band to entertain guests. Kristy and Luke had the help of Styled Events to create stylish tabletops that featured crystal votive candles, candlesticks and clusters of flowers. “I envisioned men in dark suits juxtaposed with a flood of colourful flowers.” Rachel says. Special moments wer puppert though out the day, but it was the speeches made by her father and the groom’s father that really tugged at Rachel’s heart. “I know it can be difficult to express such sincerity and emotion publicly, and they wed both such heartfelt speeches.” she says. “Some of the waiters cried!.” refererence:http://issuu.com/adorehome/docs/lovelyweddingmag_winter

From the Bridesmaid

I’m so excited that you’ve chosen me to be your bridesmaid! If I’m in your bridal party, I promise to always stand by you and support you as you plan your wedding day. As a good friend/sister/relative, I want to help make your wedding journey as enjoyable and un-stressful as it can be. But you have to try and do the same for me! As much as it’s your big day, I’ll be along with you for the ride, and we’ll both have a much better time if we’re both happy. With that in mind, I think you’ll be the coolest bride ever if you just follow these 10 simple rules… 1. Give us color swatches to choose from Then let us choose our own bridesmaids dresses. That way we’ll have something we love and is flattering, and you’ll have us looking just the way you pictured! And if you don’t like our choices? Chances are we kept the receipt, just in case. But seriously, how cute are these mismatched bridesmaids? You know you’re into it.

2. Shoes If you want us to wear heels, take care of our feet. We’ll put up with it for you, but we’ll be a little sad if we end the night with blisters or twisted ankles! Please don’t make us wobblewalk on grass – think about investing in heel-stoppers! And we’re definitely going to want to dance the night away. More comfy shoes are preferred, so we’re not trying to brave the dance floor in bare feet!

3. Loosen us up the morning of the big day. We want to celebrate with you, and be nice and relaxed for the ceremony! We won’t say no to some drinks, snacks, and extra pampering. 4. Shower us with presents! While we love doing this for you, it’s nice to get some gifts for helping you out. We’ll want to party and celebrate, so it’d be nice to have kits for hangovers after the bachelorette and

wedding day. Oh, and personal thank you gifts are always appreciated – it’ll give us a special way to remember being a part of your wedding!

nights out are a great way to get us together before the big day.

5. Hairstyles

or set me up with the hottie if I’m single! I’d love to have the best time possible at your big day.

If you want us to rock crazy or complicated hairstyles for the wedding, offer to pay for it. Trust us – there’s no way that we’ll figure out these ‘dos by ourselves, and you’ll be happier if we look just the way you want. 6. Unknown Bridesmaids If I don’t know anyone, introduce me to all the bridesmaids beforehand so we have time to be friends. Fun outings, lunch, or

7. Warn me of creepy groomsmen

8. Don’t make me compete for your attention. I know you love your other bridesmaids, but things can get awkward fast if two best friends or sisters are vying for your time. 9. I’m happy to help you out with most things DIY projects, picking up dresses, or mailing invites are all

expected. But don’t ask me last minute for my help, or resent me if I can’t make it. I have other things to do too! 10. Your Bachelorette Party If you’re not stoked about the bachelorette party we’re planning, then please don’t throw a fit – this is our event to plan for you! Instead, hint nicely about one or two things you’d be excited to do. And if it’s a trip to Vegas that we can’t afford, offer to pitch in. I can’t wait to celebrate with you, and be a part of your bridal party! I promise I’ll be a cool bride to you too. Congrats, girl.

Love, Your Future Bridesmaid
