SKIPPER-COMPETITor

Frederic Buyle holds four world records in free diving. After ten years of competition, he now dedicates his time to photojournalism, producing documentaries and teaching free diving. He uses his skills to help field scientists with telemetry -- tagging large aquatic animals, counting them and following in their path.

A specialist of solo around-the-world races, Christophe Auguin won the Solitaire du Figaro in 1986, the BOC Challenge in 1990-91 ahead of Alain Gautier and the Vendee Globe 1996-97. He is the only sailor to win three solo race victories around the world. He competed in his last race in 2001 and then formed a small business and began living in Tierra del Fuego. He has explored the white continent on numerous occasions and knows it by heart.

GUIDE-doctor

Gilles Rigaud is above all a lover of the sea. He built his own boat 20 years ago to navigate the seas in all latitudes. He has been living for ten years in Patagonia and has many expeditions to his credit from Cape Horn to Antarctica where he has often led teams of volcanologists, seismologists and geologists. Gilles Rigaud is also an excellent diver and ensures safety when diving with Frederic Buyle to view seal lions and humpback whales. A passionate writer, he is the author of «Comptoir des oceans,» published by Arteaud, and «The Paths of the Wind.»

Used to guiding in the high peaks of the Andes and the Himalayas, Yvan Estienne has traveled the world climbing or attempting the earth’s highest peaks, and crossed the deserts of the world, and penetrated the thickest Amazon forest, and passed Cape Horn and Drake Passage. He has participated in several films about mountains («Barre des Ecrins,» «Gaspard de la Meije,» «Darwin,» «Secret Cordillera»). A frequent speaker, expedition leader, author of comics, a mountain guide for 37 years, Yvan has climbed thousands of peaks and guided hundreds of friends on seven continents.

Pierre Muller is a mountain guide and emergency doctor who works with mountain rescue units (PGHM and CRS). A great explorer, he has numerous expeditions to his credit in Central Asia, Svalbard, Greenland and Patagonia. With his mountaineering friends he has climbed a large number of walls in the Alps (North Face of the Eiger and the Matterhorn in winter), in Pakistan, Madagascar, the Sahara and Yosemite. He is both a skier emeritus and doctor specialized in perilous environments, and has been responsible for ensuring the safety of Free Ride competitions in the Alps and the Caucasus. 7

A world champion free diver, Frederic Buyle, will initiate you to the relaxation techniques essential to your first free dive.
