Table
Own project 2013
I felt like doing something in wood and made a small bedside table.
Process I did not have any specified mesurements or features to concern about except the height, so I sketched some different ideas before making a cad model in soildworks.
Make it real I made drawings from the cad model and started the work in the workshop. I choose alder for the nice red color it has.
When I was designing the table in Solidworks I had the manufacturing procedures in mind and that saved me a lot of time in the workshop.
Result Finished table with a coat of paraffin oil to protect it from dirt and make the wood a bit darker.
Coffee cup
Own project 2011
I wanted to explore the production methods of ceramics. I had an idea to use the same technique that can be found in heatshields and by the use of it not have to include the traditional coffecup ear.
Result I choosed the design with the horizontal pattern due to the manufacturing process. To make a mold the company needs a master, I machined the master in plastic and made it 8% bigger.
The ceramics shrink when it dries. They made a smal batch of 25 cups so I could evaluate the final product. The company I worked with was Nittsjรถ Keramik.
Evoque project
Clay project 2013
Use the form elements from the Range Rover Evoque and design a backpack or a cooler box.
Sketch The outlined parts were my key elements when sketching. I tried some different ideas both cooler box and backpacks.
PressReleaseFinder (Creative Commons Flickr)
Process After finding a sketch that resembled parts from the Evoque and started with the clay. I refined the shape by moving between clay and sketching.
Result The final product is a backpack with a semi hard shell and a pocket for newspapers.
Coat hanger
Own project 2013
After cleaning out the old wardrobes in my room I needed a new place to hang my clothes. It started out with some sketches and after that I made a soildworks model which helped me in the workshop.
GPS mount
Own project 2012
I wanted to use my phone as a GPS instead of buying one and therefore I decided to design a GPS mount for my motorcycle.
2 3
1 4 The mount is design for use in a tough enviorment on a offroadbike. Most of the parts can be laser cut to lower manaufacturing costs. The materials are anodized aluminium for the main construction, stainless steel for the spring holders and the sliding bars and plastic for the phone holders.
1. The springs keep the phone safe in place and dynamic holds it while driving on bumpy roads. 2. Sun deflector prevents reflections on the screen. 3. Plastic holders that are interchangable for different kinds of phones. 4. Knob for adjusting the angle of view.
Result Finished prototype mounted on my motorbike. It works well and have by now done 8000 km.
Speaker
Workshop course 2012
To get acquainted with the workshop we were asked to make our own project. I choosed to use concrete because the material do not affect the sound reproduction as much as other materials.
Process When sketching the speaker I had to bear in mind that it had to be a shape that I could mold in concrete. When designing a speaker there is many things to think about.
The chamferd edges are of importance to reduce the phenomena “edge reflections that disturb the frequency curve. The encoluser size is three liters, calulated using the parameters of the 3 inch woffer.
Paper Mockup
Molding
The Back side
From the sketch I did a papper mockup to get the feeling for the proportions. To give the speaker a more alive look and stable stance I changed the design of the legs.
The final shape was carved out in foam and vaccum formed. The vaccum formed plastic was then used as a mold. It was some trial and erros before I got the hang of it.
A piece of wood is glued to the back and encloses the volume. After it is glued the access wood is grinded a way to create a smoth joint.
Result The final result a small bookshelf speaker with a great sound.
Record shelf
Own project 2010
Vinyl records are nice to look at, they are small pieces of art and should not be stored in crates on the floor. I decided to make a shelf that show the records and makes it easy to flip through them.
Process
The first prototype
The shelf have a capacaty of 60 records. It is fasten to the wall with 6 screws. I put alot of focus to make the shelf as invisable as possible, the records are the things of importance and not the shelf.
The shelf functions well, but the manufacturing cost was way to high. The manufacturing cost in sweden for one shelf was 900sek and that means 1800sek for the retailer.
The secod prototype Due the high manufacturing cost I had to rethink my idea. I started to investigate the possibilities to make it from sheet metal.
The new redesign shelf is laser cut from a 2mm steel sheet and folded. The manufacturing cost were reduced to 80sek.
Result The redesign shelf have space for 25 records and is fasten by three screws. The size and format of the shelf make it very easy to stack and send. Finally it is powder coated to give it a protective finish.
Headphones
Ongoing project 2013
Some sketches for a headphone project I have started to work with.
Thank you for your time!
