Associate/Professor Epidemiology/Infection Control 03-307-115

The Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Division of Healthcare Outcomes Research, and the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, are seeking a faculty member at the associate to full professor level, to join an established multidisciplinary team focused in hospital infection control, hospital epidemiology, and quality improvement. Candidates with board certification in internal medicine and subspecialty certification in infectious diseases will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate strong management, epidemiologic, and clinical skills, and should have at least 2 years experience in supervising the day-to-day execution of a hospital based infection control program. Selected candidate will serve as the Medical Director of Infection Control for the University of Maryland Medical Center and lead an integrated team of health care professionals engaged in the overall infection control program in full partnership with both The Division of Healthcare Outcomes Research and the Division of Infectious Diseases. Significant opportunities exist for the development of investigator initiated research activities in the areas of infection control, epidemiology, and infectious diseases, as well as collaborative activities with investigators in the medical and other professional schools at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. In addition, teaching activity for all levels of health professionals exist including medical students, MPH, and PhD epidemiology students enrolled in the University of Maryland School of Medicine, as well as medical house staff and infectious disease fellows in hospital epidemiology and infectious diseases. Salary, rank, and primary academic appointment (either Department of Epidemiology, Division of Healthcare Outcomes Research or Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases) will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and professional interest.
