Jerry!!! Don’t Worry!!! AJITH KUMAR M As Nickson gradually came back to senses, he found a huge dynamic shadow growing over the plastered wall with a sprawl of rain water patches. The shadow was holding a sack that appeared to be wiggling around the air. “Hey you! It’s already five to Eight! Get ready to school!” roared Gabriel. The shrieking voice of Gabriel, his father, instantly revived him from his usual dream of a rodent being chased by a cat. It was a dilapidated thatched-hut where his lineage had resided. Unattended loft in the house was developed into a shelter of a dozen rodents. They busied themselves in nibbling and procreating. One fine day Gabriel made up his mind to end this issue. He slipped his hand into his pocket to fish out the money to buy a mouse trap and dry fishes to bait rodents. “He bought dry fishes for rodents? I don’t suppose my father loves me as much as them?” Nick thoughtfully introspected. After a week’s time, one unlucky rodent was caught inside the trap. Heaving a sigh of relief, Gabriel grabbed rodent by its tail and slid it into the sack. He repeatedly hit across its face with heavy blows and stomped. Having got ready for the school, Nick hurried to examine if it was alive. “Is it alive or dead?” asked worriedly. “Probably half-dead!” he replied tying the knot around the sack. ‘”My teacher taught us to be compassionate towards all living beings!” He questioned with a strange sense of fear enveloping him since he had never been in disagreement with his father. “Look at the Christ here who came down to earth to save rodents!” he guffawed at the timely joke. That night. Once again, he spotted Gabriel placing a mouse trap. Nick struggled to get sleep even after wee hours as he wasn’t ready to see another one get killed. He starred very pointedly at the trap. Out of nowhere, one of the rodent ventured into the room and neared the trap. Before he could react, it fell into the trap. Bristles of rodent spiked up due to emergency crisis! It scurried around the trap to figure out the means of escape but latter settled down with fear. Gathering all his courage, he got up and tiptoed towards the trap to get the rodent out. When he tried opening door latch, it mildly clanked. He looked around to ensure if anyone was awakened and emerged out of the hut. Darkness had already engulfed the complete village. A feeling of warmth enveloped rodent, when he was holding it. Meanwhile, he sensed a hand around his neck. It was Gabriel! A sudden epiphany must have emerged from Gabriel’s within! He surprisingly lifted his hands off Nick. Nick’s fear quickly evaporated. He let the rodent down. It disappeared into darkness! “I will anyway find it tomorrow. But I can’t wait to see you imploring for Chicken dishes on Diwali’ Gabriel said laughingly. Nevertheless, Nick was determined not to sleep the next day!

A Flight Of Fantasy BHAVANI MOHAN Sat, Nov 10, 2018, 07:49 AM It was just an ordinary Saturday morning. My son & I were sitting in the living room. I was just having my usual coffee & he seemed to be a little lost, rather deep in thought. Me: What is it? (I nudged) 7 Year Old: Nothing Mommy, Do you think time travel is possible? Me: In future, maybe, what are you wondering? 7: Hmmm, actually I got a dream about time travel. Me: Is it? What happened in the dream? 7: Am going back to the time where they are about to invent a tablet. The Inventor is Daddy by the way. He looked pretty tired & stuck! He couldn’t figure out how to get it up & running. Me: Oh Dear… Then what happened? 7: Well, simple Mommy. Since I had a super advanced tablet from the future, I just showed him some cool stuff we can do and let him toy with it. Me: How nice! 7: Then, you walk in and we decide to go on a hang glider. Me: Ooooooh! Din see that coming… What’s a hang glider? (Pretending not to know) 7: You know glider, right?... Hang Glider is the same, we just “Hang” & Glide. Me: Haha! Sounds like a fun ride! So, where did we go in our “Hang” glider? 7: To SPACE!! Me: To Space???... In a “Hang” glider??? …How is it even possible??? 7: It’s a dream Mommy!!! Anything is possible in a dream!! Me: All right! Go on… 7 : We kept flying and flying and lost our way back to earth. We were so scared but we kept flying and flying and finally found our way back to earth! Just in time for Daddy to invent the tablet. Then, he gets a Nobel prize. He gets the coolest prize on earth! Me: How wonderful! (Smiling) 7 : So, do you think time travel is possible? … I want that dream to become real… Me: That’s definitely one dream to cherish! But, Time Travel isn’t possible yet dear. But, you know what? We can make it possible if you do exactly what you did in that dream! 7: I don’t get it Mommy. Me: See, Today’s advanced airplanes started out as just a “Hang” glider! It’s just a simple idea! Also, when you got lost in space, you were so scared but you never gave up! That’s grit. Even a simple idea has the potential to become something extraordinary if you work on it with determination. 7: Errr… are you saying I could be the inventor of Time Travel?? Me: Yeah! Why not? Anything is possible, not just in dreams. You just have to try passionately without giving up. Exactly like what you did in the dream! 7: So cool! Am gonna be an Inventor Mommy! Me: There you go! Hi Fi! I continued sipping my usual coffee & it suddenly turned into the most flavorful coffee ever!

Angel G DHINESH KUMAR It was the year 2014. Kumar, a boy who hailed from one of the many middle-class families in Chennai. With his hard work and dedication, he grabbed a Civil Engineering in one of the prestigious Engineering College in Chennai. He would start at 7.30 AM in the morning to reach his college on time at 9 AM. He waits for a bus that goes to Broadway bus depot. Boards on it along with Balaji and Venkat. They would pray every day to GOD for a free seat in the return journey. But GOD could not process their request most of the days.Apart from the bus pass neither of them has more than 20 rupees with them. One fine day, when they were waiting for the bus, an AC bus came and halted in front of them. Balaji asked, “Dude, can we go in AC bus today? I am sick of traveling in the crowd filled no air bus”. Kumar replied, “Yeah dude. I did not travel in AC bus yet. Ticket fare should be high, but I have 20 Rupees only with me”. Venkat said, “Don’t worry guys. I have 200 rupees in my bag. I will buy a ticket. Let’s go” By the time, Venkat finishes his statement, 21 G AC bus reached the stop. All three rushed to the door, when the door opened, they felt like they were in Himalayas. They went inside and the conductor asked, “Where to go?” All three replied in chorus “Broadway”. The conductor said, “Get inside, I will collect the money after giving tickets to others”. Though it was AC bus, it was packed than usual days. The conductor was busy disbursing tickets to everyone. Kumar looked at the ticket and astounded as the fare was 135 rupees. Venkat inserted his hand to take the 200 rupees, within seconds he said “Guys, money is not there!” That single statement decreased the temperature down and increased their tension. All 3 of them searched their bags and unearthed few coins which are buried deep inside. But the total sum came around 105 rupees only. Venkat replied, “It’s all my mistake. I am sorry guys. Will get down in next stop and decide what to do next”. Kumar who felt awful about his small desire being broken was left with no choice to get down at the next stop. Out of nowhere, a man in forties with specs called Kumar and handed over 50 rupees to him. Kumar denied it and said, “No thanks sir”. He whispered, “I had been listening to you people, keep this amount, and go home safely”. All 3 looked at each other and whispered, “Thank you very much, sir”. At that moment, he looked like an angel who saved them from embarrassment. Within minutes, all 3 forgot about the embarrassment and stared enjoying their first AC Bus journey. First, is always memorable right? Moral: If you help someone in trouble voluntarily, you can also become an angel.

What is beauty? G DHINESH KUMAR

Rachel was residing in one of the metropolitan cities in Europe. She was known for her elegance, Flash and Serena works for Rachel, and it was her daily routine to torture them. Both of them felt that they were in jail and prayed to God every day to rewrite their fate. One fine day, Rachel wore a new red colour dress and went to Flash’s room. She scanned all the things in the room and she literally drained all the energy of him with the continuous work. She came back in a sparkling silver gown. She aggravated him for nearly 30 minutes this time. After a few minutes, Rachel went to Serena’s room. Rachel searched all the items in the room and threw a couple of things into the dustbin. She went to every nuke and corner of the room and could not locate what she needed. She cursed Serena as “You stupid. Can’t you hold it right?”. Serena kept quiet. After confirming that Rachel had gone to the dream world, Serena went to Flash and asked, “What happened, man? Why are you so sad?”. “I am sick of Rachel, Serena. I don’t know when she is going to act with common sense. I agree that I’m working for her. But I’m not her slave. Everything has a limit. She always comes to my room and shows her face”, Flash answered. Serena replied, “Your position is fine. She took few things out of my room and kept it somewhere else, but she’s scolding me as if I lost it. She often comes to my room and searches for the best items”. Flash said, “Her arrogance is growing day by day. She looks pretty good, I agree, but she feels that she’s the most beautiful girl in the world”. “100% true man. Her hands and legs could start trembling, if at least one person a day doesn’t tell she looks beautiful”, Serena replied. Flash responded back, “Things will not change until she believes that the outer appearance is the beauty. A coat of skin does not characterize beauty. It is defined by the nature of the person under the skin”. Serena replied, “Yes, hmmm. Hope she’ll quickly get it”. After this conversation, both Flash and Serena said good night to each other and left to their respective rooms. Three weeks later, Rachel had a fire accident. Thank God, nothing big happened to her except a scar in her face. She began to believe that she was ugly. It took months for her to realize that her external appearance don’t define beauty until she met Jack. Jack liked Rachel‘s inner beauty and proposed her. Both got married and lived happily. Flash and Serena are working for Rachel today too, but she doesn’t annoy them anymore. My dear reader, forgive me, please! I’ve been lying to you since the beginning of this story. The real name of Flash is ‘Camera’ and Serena is ‘Gallery’. Both Camera and Gallery are working in Rachel’s mobile.

At Autumn Dusk MADHUMITHA J At dusk of autumn, Joon was walking down the lane from work with a white hoodie covering his mullet dark hair, hands in his pockets listening to music, as the pleasant autumn breeze brushed his face, he looked up and saw the petals of cherry blossoms dancing with the wind. A tiny smile at the end of his lips, he walked past an old bookstore at the corner that stood small in the busy city. He stopped, walked inside and as he brushed his hands through the book’s memories of little Joon excited to get new book hit him. “How I wish I could be a kid again”, thought Joon. He picked an old torn book and opened to a page with a picture of a small boy sitting on his bed looking at the sky gracing the moon. He kept turning the pages and running through it. Suddenly the book slipped from his fingers and fell making a loud noise in the empty bookstore, turning the owner attention towards him. “There I go again, still the same clumsy guy” said Joon laughing as he picked up the book, he’s all big now, and has learned to accepted and love who he is. But self-love wasn’t easy for little Joon. He always felt different, “An outsider in his circle, the moon to the night sky”, remembering his childhood and how everyone teased him for being tall and skinny. Joon saw his reflection on the window nearby, “Oh, how I wish I could tell my younger self, that he did good, and that he was loved and to keep going. I wish I was gentle to that little guy and made his feel comfortable in his own skin”, he thought. He remembered how he wished that there was someone he could talk to, as he felt tiny in this big world. He touched the whale dollar attached to his chain and remembered how he used to feel all alone just like the whales at the bottom of the sea and just like how the whale moves to the surface to breath, Joon started to breath the day he started to love and accept himself. Soon he gets a call from work and stepped outside to take it. As he was in his phone, he noticed an old lady in purple scarf with heavy bags on her shoulder trying to cross the busy road. She kept looking for someone to help her, but everyone just passed by. Joon soon ended his call, walked towards her. “Can I help you?” asked Joon. The old lady smiled and nodded, “Thank you, Son”. He held her wrinkled hands and offered to carry her heavy bag. As the traffic lights changes, they start walking together. When they reached the other side, he turned towards her and asked her if she was going anywhere and if he can help her. She said “I will have to take the next bus to Seoul, I’m meeting my son there “. As she continued the bus arrived and she said, “There it is, this is my ride”. Joon helped her get in, placed her bag in the front seat and bid her goodbye. She smiled the biggest and said, “Thank you for helping me cross and have a wonderful day Son”. As she thanked him, the doors closed, and the bus started to move. The old lady sat and kept waving to him until she passed him. He waved her back and went his way. On his way home, he kept thinking about her smile and thought, “All I did was help her cross the road, but it brought the biggest smile on her face. The smallest act of kindness can make someone’s days and the smallest of smiles can light up someone’s sky”. As the night stepped in, all the stores started to light up and the city began to look alive, he kept walking and as he turned the corner, he saw his own reflection on the window of a clothing store smiling and murmured, “You did good, the little guy would be proud”, and he keep walking away.

Din RAKESH KADARKARAI J Loki was ecstatic to finally visit his Granny’s ancestral home. Granny looked more radiant while greeting him than when she visited the city. “These ten days are going to be awesome” he said. “I’ll make sure of it’ Granny said with a warm yet mystic smile. Loki had a great time visiting the fields and playing with the kids nearby, and was exhausted when he crashed in to his bed that night. As Granny came in with a glass of milk, she asked, “If you can have any super power for a day, what will it be?” “Why Granny? Might be I’d like to make Rasagullas like you” Loki said. “Din” she said, tapping on Loki’s head. “You meant Done?” Loki asked. Granny just smiled. As he woke up the next day, Granny gave him a jar of milk, and sent him into the kitchen. The Rasagullas became an instant hit, and he was made the opening batter in his new team just for that. “Your recipe was great” He said Granny that night. “No, it’s all you” she said with a twinkle in her eye. “If you can have any super power for a day, what will it be?” she asked him again. “I’d like to get an Ice cream whenever I think like having one” “Din” Loki got ice creams handed over wherever he went next day. He was least bothered about how bad his team lost that day or how the kids mocked his awkward swimming skills, because he had total 31 Ice creams, without having to spend a single penny. “If you can have any super power for a day, what will it be?” Granny asked that night too. “I need to win our bet match tomorrow” He said. “Din” They won next day in the last over. Loki was never nervous, and had just a smile after the win. He was sure they’d win. “I want to get better at swimming” he told Granny that night. “Din” Loki had no qualms diving into the well next day. He was much better at it. By end of the holidays Loki had learnt to drive, practiced mountain climbing, and was good at both painting & crafting. His vocal skills had marked improvement. As he boarded the return train, he asked Granny through the train window “How does this really work” “What” she asked with an inscrutable smile. “Is Magic real?” he asked “If you can have any super power for a day, what will it be?” “Answer me Granny, Is Magic real?” “Magic or No magic, it’s what you do with your potential that counts” she said. “Then that’s what I need. I just need to know I can do anything if I put in effort” “Din” Loki never found if Magic is real, but he realised that he can achieve anything if he just believed in his efforts.

Kolkata Calling SRIDHAR H It was an important day for Vikram. He was expecting the opportunity for presenting the latest numbers to the Client. That would be the fitting reward for all the hard work he has put in the last 6 months. He was tensed when he entered the office. By the time he reached his seat, he was sweating profusely. When his boss called him inside, he felt like he is going to faint. But it was a different Vikram who came out of the boss cabin. He had a dreamy expression. Vikram was jubilant. Not for the fact that he is going to do the presentation to the Client but for the fact that the meeting is happening in Kolkata. Kolkata is famous for a lot of things: Maa Durga temple, Eden Gardens, Howrah Bridge, Ganges river. But, according to Vikram, nothing came near to Kolkata’s Rasagulla. Vikram tasted Rasagulla for the first time when he was a kid. He never knew such taste could exist in the world. If there was a King for sweets, it must be Rasagulla. From then on, Vikram craved for Rasagulla. Whenever any guests visited them, he prayed that they bought Rasagulla as a gift. Once Vikram’s Uncle said that Kolkata’s Rasagulla near Howrah Bridge is the best among the best, Vikram made a vow to have Rasagulla in Kolkata, that too in his own money. The preparation and the travel to Kolkata was all a hazy memory for Vikram. His thoughts were all about having the Rasagulla around 5pm near Howrah bridge after landing at 2pm.

When he landed in Kolkata, Vikram knew that he is not striking off the first point in his bucket list today. It was raining cats and dogs. Auto or Taxi, no one was ready to take him anywhere near Howrah bridge. He had to give up on his Rasagulla, after trying for 1 hour, return to hotel and call it a day. The meeting was rescheduled to the same hotel where he was staying, in a small conference room, so that the meeting is not disturbed. So, the chance of having Rasagulla in the morning went for a toss. Vikram ate dinner with disinterest and slept very lightly. He woke up in the morning and went through his notes for the meeting once and to his great disappointment, the rain was still pouring steadily. He thought of skipping breakfast but decided that he needed the energy for the meeting. When he reached the breakfast hall, he thought he was hallucinating. In one corner of the hall, there was a Rasagulla stand. An exact replica of the street stand he had heard about. He was not breathing when he walked towards the stand. Only when the caterer confirmed that the stand was kept for all the guests, he could believe his luck. Sometimes, when we wish for something truly from heart, it approaches us rather than us approaching them.

One Bag Too Many SRIDHAR H

Rahul was a good boy. For the past two days, he has behaved in a way his Dad had approved of. Except for one occasion, where chocolate ice-cream was involved, he had never asked anything to Dad adamantly. Now, his two-day vacation was over and he is on the way to his house from Railway Station in Auto (another favorite). In another couple of hours, he must go to School. This thought brought him sadness. He was thinking what he could do now, so that he could take leave today. On reaching, Dad asked him to sleep for an hour, so that he can be fresh in school. Rahul knew now that there was no way for him to bunk school. As soon as he lied down, his dad came and asked him whether Rahul knew the auto number in which they had come to home. Rahul had a habit of remembering anything numerical and he had remembered the auto number clearly, a palindrome number, 3443. Immediately, Dad asked him to accompany him. Rahul couldn’t believe his luck. He was going out again and that too in another Auto this time (number of this auto was 6723). Dad asked the auto to go to the railway station. Once they got down, Dad asked the auto to wait for them. Rahul was so happy that their return journey was also going to be in Auto, instead of bus as he was thinking. Rahul was observing a bargain between a taxi driver and family. It was so magical to Rahul. After some 30 or 40 minutes, Dad started walking back. Rahul checked the time. There was no way he could make to school today. His happiness knew no bounds. Now, dad had an address with him and he showed that to the auto driver and asked him to take there. Rahul caught the area name and remembered that there was an Ice-Cola shop. But he didn’t mention that to his dad, as he could see his dad was upset. With all the commotion in the station, Rahul failed to notice what had upset his dad. Once they reached the address, Dad went inside the house and came out after 10 mins. He asked the auto driver to return to home. Rahul had made plans for the entire day, as it was leave for him. When the auto turned into their street corner, Rahul couldn’t believe his eyes. He spotted the same auto in which they travelled this morning. Rahul said this information to his dad and for some unknown reason, this made Dad very happy. The Morning-Auto driver handed a bag to Dad. Only then Rahul understood why Dad was upset all along. Dad had forgotten his bag in the auto. Now, with the bag returned, Dad was happy. Rahul was thinking to himself, whether growing up would make him also upset for a simple act of missing a bag, in-spite of having many bags in their house.

The Lost Pen ROSELIN KIRUBA CHRISTOPHER "Celine, Get out of my class! Go and meet the Principal and take her permission and then come to my class. Otherwise don’t come to my class again!” yelled Malar. “Ma’am, Trust me. I didn’t do anything. Please let me in!” cried Celine. Malar is in no mood of listening to Celine. She started teaching on the topic “Truth Triumphs”. All the students are seeing Celine. She was standing pathetically outside. Malar shouted, “If I see anyone seeing outside, you can also go out with her.” There was pin drop silence and students started listening to the class. Not knowing what to do, Celine went out and sat in a bench. She cried, cried a lot. Why Celine is crying and why Malar is so angry on Celine? Let’s see. September 4, 2021 9.00 AM It was a beautiful morning. Students are rushing into the school campus. School bell rang. Everyone sang the prayer song. “Good morning! Maaaaaaaaaaam!” students sang the daily rhyme. “Good morning all. Sit down” said Malar. Malar is the class teacher of Class V. She teaches English. 9.10 AM Malar finished taking attendance and she told, ”Everyone open your text book, Page No.20” Today we will see an interesting story on the topic “Truth triumphs”. Suddenly, Nithya stood up and said, “Ma’am, I bought a new glitter pen today, but it’s lost. My dad gifted me. I don’t know where it is?” Nithya said in a sad tone. Malar teacher told everyone to check in their places. But the pen could not be found. Malar came to everyone’s place and checked their bags. Malar checked Celine’s bag. She found a new glitter pen inside her bag. When Malar teacher took the pen out, Nithya shouted in joy, “This is my pen”. Malar didn’t ask Celine anything but she blindly trusted Nithya. She yelled at Celine and send her out of the class. Poor Celine. Did Celine did this? 9.45 AM English class got over and Malar went out. All the students were talking about Celine. “I don’t think Celine took the pen. She is a kind and honest girl” said Varun. Veni also supported what Varun said. But Geeta told, “No, I don’t think so. Because Celine is not rich, she should have took it from Nithya”. Everyone is gossiping on this incident. At that time, Nithya ran outside fastly. She went to Malar teacher. “Ma’am, I am sorry. I found my lost new pen inside my bag. Just now I found while taking science notebook.” On hearing this, Malar teacher got worried and she felt bad for what she did to Celine. They both went outside and saw Celine sitting in a bench sadly. Nithya ran to Celine and said, “Sorry, Celine. My pen fell inside my bag.” Malar was ashamed to see Celine, but Celine smiled at her. Malar was broken inside her heart and took both of them to the classroom. “Students, listen. Celine didn’t took the pen. I didn’t investigate properly. It’s my mistake. We learned about Truth Triumphs, and here is Celine, who won. I am sorry, Celine.” Malar said to her. Celine told, “Ma’am, I bought this pen for you, since tomorrow is Teacher’s day and you are always my favorite teacher”. Malar felt very emotional and hugged Celine. All the students happily shouted, “Happy teachers’ day, Maaaaaaaaaam.” So kids, it is true Truth always wins and children are not always wrong! Fun to learn new words! Yelled – shouted Gossip – talking casual about other people, typically being true Triumphs – wins Pathetic – helpless Investigate – making inquires to know the truth

involving details that are not confirmed as

Moral of the story Kids, being truthful and honest will always win. It may take time but it will never fail. Also, don’t judge anyone without knowing the truth. Truth will never be defeated.

Sahara Survivor S.A.RAJESWARI One fine morning amid gusty wind and hot weather in Sahara Desert, located in continent Africa, An Indian traveler came to visit the desert along with his pet frog named, “oh”. While the Indian was eating dates near the oasis, suddenly oh jumped into the water from his bag, the traveler didn’t notice it, as soon as he finished eating the dates, he began to view the rest part of the desert. When he left, began to search his owner desperately by hopping. Then Sahara was getting hotter and hotter, so he decided to return to the oasis and slept on the dry leaves as he was tired and felt sleepy. When ‘razzle’ the rock snake came near the oasis she saw the strange lying on the leaves , Razzle came closer and woke him up, when woke up .he saw her and was frightened ,after knowing about her told the whole incident to razzle ,she said ‘i am sorry ,i can’t help you as i am afraid of human beings ,but i will take you to a place where you will get help’. Then Razzle took ‘ to a strange cave named ‘palm cave’. There animals meet and discuss. told ‘i lost my owner near the oasis and i don’t know where he will be, someone please help me’. Fennec the fox said, ‘i guess he would be near the watermelon troop’. Razzle asked if anybody could help him. Then all animals gathered and started to discuss. Finally after a long discussion, a kangaroo named Baron, concluded and said ‘we can’t help you ‘oh’, as we do not like to meet human beings , so kindly try to find it yourself. returned deeplysad, so he himself started to search his owner even when the Sahara desert is getting hot like lava. When he reached a sandy area, he saw an eagle coming near him, went to ask him for help, suddenly the eagle grabbed him and started to fly towards his nest. While he was flying he felt a bit thirsty and he saw an oasis and while coming towards the oasis, he accidently left the frog from a great height. began to shout ‘ahhhhh’ as he was falling and then fortunately, he landed on a cotton bag, and he saw his owner from the bag quenching his thirst from the oasis. was very happy to this amazing fortune and viewed the rest part of ‘the Sahara’ with his owner. Even he was very happy to receive “Oh” after so long where he was struggling to search and puzzled to see him back. Oh, finally understood that whatever the situation we shouldn’t lose hope. Take charge of the situation and move forward. Almighty has his own plans to safeguard us. After that then they both lived happily enjoying every moment cherishing good times.

Silent Life of A Pumpkin SHRUTHI S Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there lived a pumpkin called Orange- the pride of the Baron's pumpkin patch. It was flushed with Halloween hues and shimmered in the morning pink skies; it was plump and huge: a lovely backrest and a great hugger, also it could feed the whole household for a week. Jack, the gardener, beamed with pride at his prize and the cook dreamt of making the best pumpkin squash and cakes. Even the Baron's grim face twitched at the sight of Orange. Orange was destined for a great future; it would have meant the world to its ancestors to be served as squash, pie or even as soup in the Baron's kitchen. They sadly had been sold off in the local marketexcellent pumpkins, yet none were Orange. However, little was the world, nor the household aware of Orange’s dreams. It had all started that evening when Kent, the Baron’s son, read the story of Cinderella. Kent was a young puny boy of seven. He was different. He could not run or walk like the other children and when he tried, his legs hurt terribly, and he had to sit down. The medicines did little to help him, so he chose to read, and fly to different worlds. His favorite reading haunt was under the almond tree, with his back leaning on Orange and legs sprawled on the cool grass. His sweet voice would carry the story through the garden, and it is no lie that even the clouds would pause to hear him. Every evening he would read a tale and doze off, slipping into a reverie. Along with him, Orange travelled, dreaming what Kent did and on this one evening went farther than him. Orange was enthralled by Cinderella’s pumpkin; it could not believe that a pumpkin, that too a tiny one, had become a carriage. It meant Orange could become the biggest carriage in the country and carry the princess! What a marvelous ride it would be! The princess would be so pleased that she would knight Orange and it would become the Royal Carriage. What else could Orange ask for?! For years, it thought of nothing else. Everything had been planned out- Jack would be the coachman and Kent would ride with the princess. It had even started interviewing the horses, but none believed Orange, they snorted at it and asked it to stop pining on such crazy ideas. But Orange was not one to give up, no matter what its parents said, nor its family said. The course had been set and all Orange needed was a fairy godmother and two horses (orange ones preferably). In the meantime, Jack was rearing Orange for the Annual Halloween Fair. He knew that this pumpkin would be the prize winner this year as no one rivalled his jewel. This pumpkin would fetch greatness to the Baron, the household and himself. It was the tradition that the winning pumpkin would not only be cooked and served at the Royal Gala, but the winner’s farm would also win the contract to supply vegetables to the palace kitchen for a year! Nothing could satisfy Jack more; it would be an honor to feed the Royal family. As Halloween neared, everyone petted Orange, they caressed it, kissed it and even broke down in tears. Orange took it all in good spirits, it could not understand much but basked in the attention. The day before the fair, a gloomy Kent who had understood the plans for Orange, came to say Goodbye. ‘Oh, dear Orange, I wish you my sweet farewell. It seems you shall not return from the fair. Mama says you are going to the Palace and that’s where you’ll be from tomorrow. I will mightily miss you, hope you find someone who reads stories to you.' Kent hugged Orange and laid back on it to read the story about some flying birds. Orange paid no heed to the story; all it could think of was going to the Palace. As the sky leaked a streak of sunshine, Jack placed Orange on the cart and left for the fair. Those who saw Orange head off, could not but wonder if the rising Sun or Orange glowed creamier and brighter in the mist- such was the sight. The trip to the fair was long and sleepy, all other vegetables and fruits were curled up and doozy, but Orange drank it all in. It had never been this far before and never seen anything this grand. The fair was being held in the fairlands where all mass gatherings transpired every year. As the cart wheeled into the ground, hundreds of canopies sprung into the air, people were bustling around, and the excitement was feverish.

Traders were setting up their stalls, farmers like Jack were bringing in their products and arranging them in curious displays. For instance, Broccolis were stacked to form a heart, while another farmer had made a tree with his cabbages and the lady selling flowers had made a portrait of a woman, probably of the queen. As Orange passed these stalls, it could not just absorb everything and a spectrum of colors and voices zephyred past it. By the time it had reached its stand, it was dizzy and intoxicated. Jack himself shook with nervousness and anticipation as he brought Orange into the display; not much decoration was required, Orange had occupied nine-tenths of the space and had left little standing ground for him, Orange was seated on the cart with hay and lots of other farm produce around it. It was a sight to see- a huge pumpkin towering over the tiny veggies, royal, yes, that is what Orange was at that moment. The other pumpkins were also being displayed, and it was a rare sight. Nearly hundreds of pumpkins had been lined up, a hundred…who could have known. Orange was stunned to see so many pumpkins- some were friendly and smiling, some frowned and scowled- Orange decided to get to know its neighbors. He wished to learn of their dreams and ambitions, but his good intentions were dashed when he spoke to the Blue pumpkin. Blue was to the right and was just so sad, all it could talk about was how it was the best ingredient for the best pie, and on the left was seated Mini, so tiny, Orange couldn’t even hear it speak,’...squeak, squeak I Mmmmm…. squeak……mini…. squeak’. This is too tiring, thought Orange, ‘Wish I was home with Kent listening to the story about those magical birds. Kent said it was unlike any other story he had read before.’ In hindsight, Kent usually read stories on magic and flying objects, his heart lifted him towards the skies. He often said all he wished for was to fly above the Butternut mountains in the west. Hmmm... strange household, pumpkin wished to become a carriage, boy hoped to fly and gardener dreamt of a palace job. All in good spirits...Psst, psst, psssst….Orange was shaken from its musings. Blue had finally something other than pies to talk about,’ Yes?,’ said Orange, ‘Did you know the royal cook makes wonderful pies-?,’ apparently, the subject hadn't changed so Orange decided to give in and entertain Blue. ‘Pray to tell, I never knew. But why does that matter today?, Blue interrupted, ’Ooof, of course, it matters, the winner of this competition will get to visit the Palace, see the Queen and if she allows, get cooked into a pie at the Royal Autumn Ball! Isn't that amazing?’ Orange was mollified. It thought, 'If Jack were to win, then he would be cooked into a pie!? Oh, God! Why would he willingly participate in such an event? Men...they were too difficult to understand, Phew!' (Readers should forgive Orange’s naivety, it had never thought of itself as food or paid heed to its parents’ words. For all it knew it was to become a carriage, that too for the princess, hopefully, Cinderella.) However, Orange saw a silver lining in this competition; if Jack won the competition, then they could enter the Palace! Poor Jack would become stew, but Orange could impress the princess, convince her to summon the fairy mother and lo! Orange the Royal Carriage would be at her service! Orange now was game- it was do or die- Jack had to win. At that moment, Jack returned and stood next to Orange. Jack had surveyed the competition; it was not what he had expected. It was far too easy, he was pumped! With his pumpkin’s size and grandeur, they were sure to win. Nervously, the two turned towards each other and wished luck, ‘We will win.’ Suddenly, lots of oohs, aaahs, comments, gasps went around- the judges had started their rounds. The din and chatter kept oscillating with silence. This went on for some time till the judges came to Orange. Clearly, they were surprised, this was by far the largest pumpkin on the show! All of them together tried to lift it, but it was in vain, Orange would not budge. One man tapped on its ear, another rubbed his palm on its bottom, Orange was shocked, ‘Yuck, these men are disgusting, if it weren’t for Jack, I would spit on them!’ The judges nodded and Jack nodded with them. As soon as they left, Jack came to Orange, ‘We’re going to the Palace, I can feel it.’ Orange was tizzy with excitement. If anyone had watched it intently, they could have seen it bounce, alas, people did not believe in magic. ‘Impossible,’ whispered a stunned Jack, ‘how could those tiny pumpkins win, for WHAT JOY!?’, roared a vexed Jack. One of the judges nearby retorted, ‘Why Jack, don’t you know this year’s theme is ‘Surprise’, and it was only right to award the prize to the Minis; they’re healthy, juicy and pop in the mouth! They would make delightful mini pies! Do you get it? Hahaha.’ The amused judges patted Jack and moved towards the stage. Another judge reasoned with Jack, ' It's a fad to grow big

Tpumpkins Jack, what's the element of surprise? You can't hide them anywhere and how to fit in the photograph? It's sooo huuuge...' Orange couldn’t believe that those squeaking Minis were going to become carriages, who would fit inside them? The Royal kitten? While Orange was still comprehending its loss, a sullen and irritated Jack connected the carriage to the horses and started the ride home. He didn’t know how he was to face the Baron; he had been overconfident and had not paid heed to the theme. If he had known, he would have brought those black pumpkins he had been asked to throw away, the cook thought they were a bad omen; people were crazy. A pumpkin is a pumpkin, how could it be a bad omen. Brrr… By the time they reached home, news had travelled, and no one had the heart to trouble the crestfallen duo, Orange was placed back in the patch. Jack patted its head saying ,’Ye did well pumpkin, they don’t know what they missed. Now if you ‘cuse me, I need to spend some time with the genie in the bottle.’ Before Orange could think about the genie, Kent slowly leaned against Orange and hugged it. ‘I’m so sorry dear, I wish you two had won. But now it’s over and perhaps, if we listen to this story, we will feel better.’ And thus began Kent in his beautiful voice, the story of two birds racing to the moon. Worn out from the day’s work, as the sunset, the three fell asleep in the patch, under the almond tree. In no time, Jack’s snores floated to the kitchen, the household chuckled and let them be. The night would be kinder to him and in the morning, he would forgive this exhausting day. Thud! Kent woke up to the sound and looked around. An almond had fallen on his head. He rubbed his eyes and scratched his head. He looked at the almond solemnly and suddenly, a sob escaped him. His dream had been wonderful, he was flying with those birds; he was just going to win when he had been woken up. His sob slowly turned into silent crying. ‘There, there, do not cry darling Kent. Did that almond hurt you a lot? I am so sorry; I did not expect Orange to grow so tall and hit the tree.’ Kent looked up and saw a young man, around thirty, bending over and giving him a kerchief. ‘You’re not in pain, are you?’ his voice was enchanting and filled with concern. ‘No, I am fine,’ Ken replied and slowly tried to get up. But his wobbly legs, buckled and he fell, not on hay, but on some stairs. Puzzled he turned around and there stood a carriage, a gigantic carriage made of pumpkin, not just pumpkin, it was Orange! He couldn’t believe his eyes, he tried to pinch himself when the man spoke again, ‘Of course this isn’t a dream. Now listen and heed well. I am your fairy godfather.’ ‘A whom?’ croaked Kent. ‘Fairy godfather, m’boy. Just because Cinderella had a godmother does not mean she’s the only one who can make carriages out of pumpkins. We fathers can too, in fact, we can up the notch. Orange your pumpkin here, has always dreamed of becoming a carriage. So I have fulfilled its wish and now will fulfil yours too. He took a handful of mud, twisted it between his palms and gave them to Kent, ‘Now make your wish and it will be granted.’ Kent blinking at the handful of mud said, ‘I wish to fly.’ And woosh! Two pairs of wings appeared out of nowhere. One pair attached itself to Kent’s shoes and the other to Orange. ‘There you go! Now you and your pet pumpkin can fly!’ fairy godfather beamed at his work. Orange was a sight for the sore and sleepy eyes, it looked splendid, it looked royal, it was adorned with gold fittings; handles, stairs, rails, and window bars all glittered in the moonlight. The interiors were decorated with velvet cushions, roses, lilies, and lavender covered the inside walls; the windows shone like a diamond and the driver’s seat was plush with leather upholstery and reins. Orange looked beautiful, magnificent and was the happiest pumpkin in the world. Speechless and wonderstruck, Kent flew into the carriage and sat down, Orange in its warm and fuzzy voice asked, ‘Shall we ride now Master Kent?’ ‘Yes,’ breathed Kent, it was all so exhilarating. Orange felt complete and proud, it was finally happening, and it was happening with the person who mattered the most. They wanted to thank the fairy godfather, but he was not done yet. He was still casting some spells and was at work. After a few minutes, he looked up to the skies and then spoke to the duo as they opened their mouths, ‘Shush you two! Don’t thank me yet. This magic can’t sustain beyond four in the morning. So you must return before that, else, you’ll be caught sitting on a pumpkin in the sky. Golly, it would be a hilarious sight to watch, but it would hurt if you fell. So, four in the morning, do you understand?’ The two timidly nodded; their dreams had already come true; they had no qualms with the hours. '

'Alright, then off....,’ but the fairy godfather was interrupted by a voice, ‘WAIIITTTT FOR ME!!! Can I please, please be the coachman?’ Jack asked the surprised fairy godfather. ‘Well, of course, you can,’ he then transformed Jack into a royal coachman and turned two black pumpkins into two handsome winged stallions for Jack to ride. Jack took their reins and tied them to Orange. He mounted the carriage and tipped his hat at a delighted Kent and Orange. When he turned, he faced a suspicious fairy godfather, ‘But do you believe in magic, Jack?’ Jack beamed at him and said, ‘Sure why not? ’Tis the year of 'surprise' after all!’ And off they flew into the sky, towards the Butternut mountains.

My Italy Vacation M.LOHITH HARSHAN Today was a boring day, everyone was in their houses because of the summer leave. We had nothing to do so mom and dad booked us a vacation trip. The vacation was to Italy! Mom said that we should also take Jeffrey with us, so I also made a deal for it because it would be even more fun having a friend around. She said that we should get ready by night because we had to go to the airport by 12 in the night, so I called Jeffrey and he said he will pack up, come right away. I enquired dad about the resort that we are going to stay at and said that we were going to stay in hotel Mioni Pezzato which had a spa and an indoor pool. We were excited. Then mom and dad reminded me to pack up our cameras and our phones. I packed everything in my favourite bag and suitcase. We were in the airport and my mom said we were going to stay there for 30 days. That was huge for me, because I have never gone on a trip for so long. I was wishing that I could have been there but no because I like Italy so after 18 hours of travel from the USA to Italy and then we went to our hotel, me and Jeffrey were in one room, mom and Manny in one room and dad in the other room. Afterwards we went out we saw a lot of places. We were playing in the golf-course, sometimes in the spa and in the indoor pool, chess and some video games, movies and outdoor games. I woke up by morning 7 and Jeffrey also woke up at the same time we went to the swimming pool and swam for 2 hours. And then I showed him some places that I saw and showed him the tennis court, a rock arena and an outdoor swimming pool with a depth of 44000 m4 and a kids pool with a depth of 120m and a place for picnic with all the facilities. And then we went to a bit of a steep place and then Jeffrey pushed me and I got hit in a tree and he was laughing seeing that then I pushed him in a boat and that went off. He then swam a total of 1km to reach me. And it was fun and then we went to a mall and saw so many vending machines with dolls, chocolates, two Kit Kats, two Fantasy Fanta and went to our room, watched some movies and then it was lunch time and they had ramen, rice balls, two of my favourite foods. Then at night we ate dinner, mom and dad also came with us to watch movies with us. And then we checked out, gave feedback and took a cab to the airport for going home finally!

“Chiku World” PRUDHVIRAJ D Chiku is a little girl from Chennai, born in a techie family. She is six years old, her mother and father work for the companies that create advanced technological stuff like gaming and virtual reality. They have a puppy Kittu, that always plays around the family members. Chiku was told to not to touch Kittu to avoid any kind of viruses transfer from puppy. But Chiku loves to see Kittu being around, and she even wanted more to touch and play with Kittu. Most of the time of a day Chiku will be under the eyesight of her parents, since their job can be done by availing work from home. Deeper inside Chiku always feels proud of her parents for the kind of lifestyle provided. She can see the beautiful sunrise everyday through the beach view, during the leisure hours she can play with the neighbors’ kids, beautiful clear sky nights with blinking stars, and her puppy. Her world of a day is completely occupied with what she like the most. But the only thing bothering her is, she can’t touch and feel the things around her. Chiku was told not to go beyond some line (Lakshman Rekha) for viewing the sun rise and clear sky, she was advised not to mingle with the kids while playing considering various pandemic reasons. But her desire to feel all the activities more joyfully growing day by day, one fine day she got an idea to use a pointed stick to touch the things around. She planned to use the stick to poke the puppy and the kids. Also, she is aware of her parents advises. So, she wanted to hide the stick somewhere around. Bringing all her courage, she started using the stick to poke the puppy while the parents are busy in office meetings. Her joy was innumerable for the response she got when she pokes the Kittu, similarly she started poking the kids also. Every day, she follows the practice of touching them by this using this pointed stick. Suddenly, Kittu not coming towards her but roaming somewhere at a distance around her, one of the kids whom she used to poke also not joining to play. She understood that due to her behavior they are showing dislike on her. Eventually, Chiku not able to find Kittu in the home, now Chiku is worried about how her parents react because of the whole thing that she is doing. Adding to her worry, all the other kids also eventually didn’t show-up to play with her. Suddenly, Chiku felt she lost everything and went into a panic situation thinking for what the parent’s reaction would be. From the hustle situation she started to think for a solution, while doing so, she was analyzing the sequence of events happened after she started using stick. She observed that Kittu left from home day by day moving away from her, kids didn’t show up one after the other and one day everybody not participated to play. Chiku knows that if she touches the sun and the beach, they will never leave her, she was happy for these little things left. But for her shocking surprise both sun and the beach got vanished. Now Chiku is wondered about the stick in her hand, and she concluded that the stick is doing some magic. She wanted to use the stick’s magic for more entertainment now, even though her parents provided all the facilities, they never played along with her. So, she wanted to use the stick on them, she targeted her mother so that the father can play with Chiku once mother got vanished, she started using the stick on her mother, but nothing is working-out. In a frustration she thrown a cricket ball sized marble at a direction in the home, the marble touched the surface behind the Lakshman Rekha. Due to the impact of touching of marble suddenly sun, beach, puppy and the kids showed up for a moment and the surface got collapsed. Then Chiku struck in that moment for a while and understood that her parents created a virtual world for her to play along. Chiku got completely shut down in her spirit, felt dishearten and grown an anger towards her parents.

“Chiku World - The End” PRUDHVIRAJ D Chiku entered seventh year; her parents planned a grand birthday party. The house is decorated with flowers, and star shaped light bulbs, but obviously everything in their parent’s way “the digital way”. Chiku is furious as well as subtle knowing that the arrangements are not actually real, but she is pretending to be happy in front of parents. They have invited all the neighbors; Chiku is excited to see her friends in the party costumes. Now, rather looking the things around in an actual way and get deceived, Chiku is curious on technology that create the world near to reality. The guests arrived, the living room is filled with kids and their parents. Chiku felt happy by seeing new versions of kids and blinked her eyes as a gesture to one of the kids. She noticed something strange while wishing the kids and innocently asked her mother about the parent’s mismatch of one of the kids. Her mother got panicked and doesn’t know what to answer. She called Chiku’s father and conveyed him the situation and said to answer something. Her father convinced by saying that “the uncle and aunt are very fond of this kid, so they always keep him near to them”. Chiku don’t want to drag the conversation, but she told “Oho! then why nobody from our neighborhood is fond of me, I am always with you only”, knowing that the neighbors are unreal, her father face blanked out, without any reply he went away. Chiku felt that birthday is going in a crazy way than she expected because of her parent’s technological errors of virtual creation. The birthday cake sparklers lighted up, chorus of the birthday song buzzing around, but interestingly, our pretty girl Chiku is doubtful on reality check of the cake. But she confirmed it as real, when she was warm welcomed by the sparklers. Finally, she cut the cake and shared with her loved parents. After that she wants her feelings to be revealed to them. she started cutting down the cake into pieces for distributing to the guests, then requested her friends to come and collect, but they were neither replying nor approaching to collect the cake. Being the situation, her parents were sweating even inside a well maintained airconditioned living room. Chiku observed that her parents won’t be replying any time sooner, suddenly like Kaali Maa in an anger and frustration Chiku thrown the cake pieces on to the faces that were showcasing on the displays and went inside bedroom. Her parents face turned red and felt sad for the situation, but still at one corner they are believing that they did reasonably good thing during the hard-hit pandemic and limited social life. At this moment, they are in dilemma on whether Chiku completely understood everything or not. To clear the confusion and to get some clarity, they knocked the bedroom door and went inside, slowly walked towards the little girl. Chiku was peeking through the window, that was a full moon day with a clear sky, such a beautiful time to watch the bright moon. The picture from behind the cute family along with the moon, this is what the perfect birthday gift Chiku was imagining. She is waiting for this simple moment for a long time. With out spelling a single word, from her blissful face, she conveyed what she wants to the parents. Her parents kissed her cheeks from both sides. Meanwhile, by looking into each other eyes, they were whispering about what they realized so far and what Chiku really wants. After spending some valuable time, they arranged bed for the little girl and make her asleep. Slowly they moved to the living room to clear all the mess. They started cleaning each display where cake was thrown, one can feel that they were cleaning them with their tears rolling out of their eyes. Their guilt can’t let them sleep for the entire night.

After some lengthy discussions on virtual world creation that night, from next day also they decided to continue the virtual world home exhibition. They were having their own reasons, rather keeping Chiku bored in isolation or getting addicted to gadgets, the couple convinced of using advanced virtual reality technology. From their point of view this is more realistic than playing some stupid games in gadget. So, they assumed that Chiku might have forget the previous day events and can easily continue with what she already used to. As usual, Chiku woke up and started pretending that she is happy with her daily routine.

The year reached to the favorite part for everybody in India “The Diwali Day”. On this auspicious day of lights, every Indian irrespective of their ages and religious beliefs celebrates to their fullest. Firing crackers, lighting up the Diya’s and decorating house, all these brought out the childish soul from the heart. Our Chiku family also not so different from others, in fact they are better than the best craftsmen creating the visual impressions with lights. The house completely become set of Hollywood, no wonder in imagining the shoot of Avatar 2.0. Though everything is created virtually, Chiku appreciating her parent’s talent for such science fiction outcome that can be seen only in movies. Anyways, she is more interested in firing crackers. But her parents bought the crackers that are of least interest for Chiku and the big crackers which she like the most are showcasing inside the screens. She kept the available crackers aside and started looking at the fireworks happening in the virtual world. After watching sometime, she got distressed and gathered some strength to teach the parents a lesson. She started searching for the previous year crackers inside the home while parents are busy in discussing something on Diwali, they are not aware of what Chiku is doing. Suddenly, they observed one “Rocket Cracker” is circulating through the displays across the room, which is almost impossible for them to distinguish it as real or unreal, and surprisingly it started aiming towards them. The couple were panicked and closed their eyes in a fear to death. But fortunately, the cracker took diversion and hit the chandelier. In a shock, with broken glass pieces around, they looked around and seen Chiku (Kaali Maa) with some other similar crackers holding in her hand and waiting to fire them up. Out of fear, they rushed towards the little girl and thrown away the crackers and took a long breath. Until the threat for the life came, they didn’t realize how their parents used to take care of their safety during childhood. They remembered how their little hands were held while playing during Diwali. Out of realization, with the teary faces, they cuddled little girl and expressed their guilt of technology misuse. That is how our Chiku taught a lesson of life for her parents and made them understand when and where to use the technology effectively. From the next day, all her technology chains were broken, and the couple started spending significant time with the little girl.

Handsome Harishankar started speaking. “Hello Big-Mad-Scientist, Hello Night Ninja and Hello Mr. Eagle Eye. Do you remember the day you had visited Mudumalai with you family many years back? You were 10 years old. You were very excited to see a real tiger in all its majesty. How excited were you and how you enjoyed watching the deer stotting? You had a wonderful time with your brothers and sisters. Why do you want to spoil the excitement of these children here? Why do you want to terrorize these children? All Grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it. I request you to remember your childhood. Think about these children gathered here. Let them have fun like how you had fun during your childhood. Stop terrorizing them.” Hearing this, there were tears from Mr. Eagle Eye’s sharp black eyes and he stumbled and fell. He said Sorry. He promised he will not terrorize people and animals henceforth. He is there to help them whenever there is a need. Night Ninja and Big-Mad-Scientist did not want to stop this frightening Act. They sent in some more honeybees. Talented Tharun threw bigger flower bombs. Handsome Harishankar took out a very big, very elastic, very colorful, very strong rubber band and threw it around the flying factory and he pulled it with all his might. Other children also helped him. He pulled and pulled and pulled and pulled. Now he released it. The flying factory bounced off towards outer space. The Big-Mad-Scientist and Night Ninja also flew along with their flying factory. They could hear him shouting AAAAAAAHHHHHH. Now the day was saved. All the children clapped enthusiastically. The elephants trumpeted happily. The tigers walked in all their royal majesty. The deer jumped. The Mudumalai Tiger Reserve was once again filled with joy. Detective Pajamas gave everyone some chikkies and home-made Chocolates to eat and some hot milk and masala tea to drink. Then Handsome Harishankar, Talented Tharun and Detective Pajamas decided to celebrate their fabulous win at the Dodabetta Peak. They sat at the peak wearing their thermal wears and watched the mesmerizing view of the Ooty town. They wondered how their next incredible adventure is going to be.

Tomorrow! SHARMISTHA ACHARYA “Have we reached there yet?” Patty asks for the 18th time. “I don’t think so, we have to keep walking” Mike answers her. “Am tired, are we there yet?” Patty fell to the ground; the rough sandy terrain hurts her smooth porcelain knees. Mike makes a face; he spits in his hands and applies the saliva on her bruised area “There all better” he says. She smiles at him with her swollen cheeks which was painted with pink “Doesn’t even pain anymore” she says, He smiles back showing two of his missing teeth and a deep dimple. They have been walking for four hours straight now, the last thing Patty had was a crusted pie for lunch “I am hungry” she says, Mike could hear her stomach grumble and so does his. In a distance he finds an apple tree “Patty, go pick up some sharp stone” he commands her. Mike was a good shot he inherited that skill from his father. In two minutes, he has five ripe apples to the ground. Patty’s mouth waters “Give me” she looks at him. “Answer this question and the apples are yours” Mike tells her “What’s five minus three” Patty counts through her finger “Three” she says with a slight disbelief. “It’s two” Mike corrects. He gives two apples to her, has two for himself and saves one for their quest. Stiff! It was a nickname given to him to by the town folks, happened to run an errand for the mayor by the deserted southern road, nobody used the broken-down lane anymore. In the mirage of the evening heat, he was able to see two little figures “Hey you two! Get over here” he yells over the top of his voice. Mounted on his horse, He appears gigantic to the little but yay height Mike and Patty. “Who are you kids? How old are you?” Stiff rigidly asks them “I am Mike, and this here is my sister Patty” Mike answers Stiff. Patty puts out four of her fingers “Am five and Mike, and Mike is, Mike is Nine” she says. “You are the kids of the dead sheriff?” Stiff looks at them with pity. “Our father is not dead, mama said he left on a vacation and that’s where we are going” Patty protests. “And where is that?” Stiff becomes curious. Mike points his hand at the distant horizon “To the end of the world, to where dad is” Stiff laughs at their innocence; he gets them on his horse and take them back to their mother. Mrs. Douglas has been worried sick for the past three hours; her eyes which have been looking high and low for Mike and Patty, rests when she sees them with Stiff. “Thank you Stiff, God bless you for returning them to me, where have they been?” she asks in a tone that is awash with worry and relief “They have been going around the town in circles ma’am, looking for the world’s end” says Stiff, adjusting his hat “Take good care of them ma’am”. She watches him ride away, the hoofs kicking up small clouds of dust. Mike digs into his pockets and presents an apple “This is for you mama, will father come home tomorrow?” A lone drop of tear falls to ground from Mrs. Douglas eye “Yes dear tomorrow he will”.

"You are not a snail!" BROWIN METHOWNA DAVID Once upon a time there lived a beautiful happy girl. Her family just shifted to a new town and she got enrolled into a new school in grade 5. Her curious little eyes started noticing the new place. It was the winter season. This town was very different from her old place. The school teachers were friendly. They introduced her to her new classmates. They talked well with her. Every morning her father dropped her in the school in his bike and left for office. In the evenings, she walked back home to her house. Her curious little eyes studied all the shops in the roads. Her mother had asked her to walk cautiously on the right side of the road. She crossed a church and she could see a patch of grass. To her surprise, she saw lot of snails in the wet grass. They were not in a hurry. They moved at their own pace in that grass. The soil was marshy. “they are really enjoying this rainy climate” she thought. “OYE” she heard a sound. It was a group of men. She wondered why they were seeing her in the first place. She felt very uncomfortable and walked home quickly. The next day was sunny. It was time to go to school. Her father kissed her and lifted her into his bike. She knew! she was his favourite. Their bike sped past the church. she wondered where the snails were. They were nowhere to be seen near the road. May be they hid beneath those broken bricks. She thought and they sped away. “They dont have to go to school also” she thought to herself. She played shuttle at school. She had an exhausted day. She walked back home. She crossed the church. She saw there were two snails near the water soaked bricks. “Maybe i can take them home”, she thought. She took a twig and started to touch the snail “PHEWW” the snail rolled into its shell. “HI.. THEREE!!” she heard a sound and she turned to see a group of men laughing. Why were they trying to talk to her, she thought. She did not know them. She got very uneasy. She turned and quickly ran to home. The next day , her father kept asking her about school while driving. As they crossed the church, she could see those men opening their shops. She felt brave now. Her father was at her side and he always will, she knew. The following evening she walked back home. She could hear the church bells. She had nothing to be afraid of. She could hear whistles. “ I have let it go too far” she thought to herself.. She was no snail to run into her home. She had to go to school daily. She straightened her leg , stood firm and turned ,looked at one of the man straight in the eye. “ Next time you call me! I will tell my father!” she said pointing her finger straight into his eye. Their sounds died away.. She walked home steadily. The next day she asked her father for a bicycle. She needs to move at higher speed she thought to herself. she has a long way to go… MORALE – “ RAISE YOUR VOICE! Whenever you feel you are cornered by strangers. Cause the easy victims are those who go silent. NEVER HESITATE TO REPORT THE SLIGHTEST OF UNCOMMON BEHAVIOURS TO YOUR PARENTS CAUSE YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO THEM AND THEY KNOW THE WORLD BETTER THAN YOU” Thanks.

Skunk it! NIKHITA SIVARAJ Yew, what is that disgusting smell! Lil Riley rolled around in his cozy bed wondering what that stinky smell was until he dozed off to sleep again. RILEY!! His moms’ shrill scream pierced through his ears and lil Riley jumped from his bed and rolled down from his bed .”Yess mommy! I am ready for school” he said sleepily rubbing his eyes. Now Mommy skunk was a very strict mamma, she always made sure he was well brushed, and his furry coat was as shiny as the moon glistening on a river. But Riley was known for being very mischievous, he has done all the mischief for skunks his age! So his mom made sure he went straight to school and back on time and not wander around. “Off you go Riley darling” said mommy planting a peck on his cheek before he left for school. Mommy skunk was worried about Riley as he hadn’t sprayed any skunk spray yet like his peers. He was a jovial fellow who only thought about playing & eating. All the fruits in the forest and all the bugs in the wood Mm yummy! thought Riley as he hopped to school with his bushy tail swaying in the wind. Riley was best friends with Rita, a little bunny. Riley and Rita were discussing their favorite meal when suddenly Riley was pushed to the floor.” Leave him you bully” said Rita with her voice quivering. “Snort Snort” laughed the little pig Porky. He was the school bully who loved to make fun of other children. Riley was scared, he managed to run as fast as he could from Porky. Riley shivered from head to tail while he narrated the entire incident to his mom. Mommy skunk hugged Riley and told him “Oh my lil Riley, you are a brave skunk, never forget that! You should stand up against bullies and always help those in need. Go to bed now, tomorrow is going to be a much better day” Next day Riley and his friends were playing when suddenly a big wolf pounced on Porky!! “HELP ME, HELP ME” wailed Porky. Riley closed his eyes out of fear and suddenly he could smell a hundred rotten eggs all at once! It was so stinky that the wolf gasped and ran away! When Riley opened his eyes all his friends came out from the bushes and started thanking him! Riley was baffled and didn’t understand what was going on. Porky hugged Riley and said “Thank you so much Riley for saving me from that big bad wolf! I am so sorry for pushing you yesterday”. Riley said “It’s okay Porky. Let’s go home now!” Riley then ran home and told his mom all that had happened, and he was confused from where the stinky smell came from, his mom burst into laughter and said “Oh my sweet Riley, you did good today”

“Up above the world so high… Like a diamond in the sky” SULAGNA ROY

“Up above the world so high…like a diamond in the sky…” sings Catherine, as she waves her hands in the air looking up into the starry ceiling of her room. Her mother smiles at her, gently placing her hands on her forehead as the warmth of her palm lulls the little girl into sleep. As the soft snores fill the room, her mother tucks her into the blanket and noiselessly exits the room. A hooded figure could be seen standing in the shadows listening to the little conversation between the mother and the daughter. As soon as her mother leaves, the hooded figure comes out of its hiding spot and makes its way to Catherine’s bedside. As it places its palm on the forehead of the little girl, she snaps out of her slumber and stares at the figure. They stare at each other for a moment before Catherine’s lips break into a smile and she happily calls out,” Mom…” It has been a few months since Catherine’s parents have passed away. She has been brought into her uncle’s household wherein her aunt has assumed the role of her mother. However, her parents have never truly left her side and their souls continue to linger in this realm. Since that unfortunate day, it’s been a routine visit. Every night the souls would linger in the shadows, waiting for the opportune moment to interact with their daughter. “Catie…my love,” her mother’s soul calls back. She abruptly sits up and wraps her arms around her mother. She could still sniff her mother’s aroma and it brings out the tears in her eyes. As if sensing her daughter’s mood, her mother bends down and kisses her forehead, wiping off the tears from her eyes. The soul says, “Do not cry my child…We will soon be with you.” Catherine wonders at her mother’s words but she doesn’t probe further when she notices her father’s soul standing behind and gently smiling at her. At this moment, she extends her arms and hugs both of them, feeling their presence within her. Her father’s soul then speaks on a soft note,” Catie…your mother is right…wait for us...we will soon be with you.” As she stares into their eyes, a bright light appears in their surrounding which gradually engulfs the spirits leaving no trace of them. Catherine doesn’t understand the phenomenon but deep down she realizes that they would not visit her anymore. Two years have passed. Catherine’s uncle has taken her to the hospital to meet her newborn cousin. As she enters the ward, her aunt smiles at her and gives her infant daughter to Catherine. She holds the baby in her arms and caresses her tender cheek. As the baby looks into her eyes, Catherine notices the similarity and recalls her mother’s promise that she would be back. She smiles internally while kissing the little girl and whispers,” Mom…you are back…and I know even Dad is out there somewhere…”

Super Hero D JOGESWARA RAO Wow! It is unbelievable to stand among the top Players in the World in the Finals of “Junior Shooting World Championship” in the Stadium in Lisa, Peru. The media attention I am getting as the ‘youngest Indian’ at the age of 16 to reach the Championship Final and calling me as “Super Hero”, making me more exciting and nervous as well. I am missing my Dad badly. Today is my birthday. It is special because exactly a year back I took a decision to change my life. Thanks to my Dad. My thoughts went back to last year….. I am Dhanush, studying Plus Two and living with my Mom, Dad and Sister. I used to spend my free time with my friends, mostly playing mobile games. We like “PUBG, Afterpulse & Call of Duty” and go out to Malls, Beaches & Movies. From Plus One, I have got more freedom, money and mobile phone in hand. Suddenly I felt that I have become an adult. Some of my friends started new habits like smoking, drinking & drugs. Last year, one day before my birthday, I stayed that night in my friend’s room. Didn’t think much about my family. In Birthday party, on friends’ insistence, I took ‘Cigarette, Alcohol and Marijuana’. It was too much for me. I have lost senses and slowly become unconscious. I opened eyes the next day midnight in my house. Sister was sleeping on another bed. I felt headache, body pains and thirsty. But guilty was the dominating feeling. First I wanted to ask apology. I Went near parents room and door was partially opened. I stopped. My mom was crying and cursing my ‘friends and Dad too’ for giving me freedom, money and mobile. She was asking Dad to put me in a Hostel in Karnataka. It broke my heart. I slowly returned to my room. Cried a lot...hated myself. I didn’t want to live. When I woke-up, Dad was sitting beside me holding my hand. “Dad! I am sorry! I never wanted….” He stopped me.. “Kanna! I know you very well. Believe me you are special. You can never go in a wrong way.

One mistake will not define you.

It is time to divert your energies and passion towards your

dreams.” I was unable to speak. My throat chocked with emotions. I hold his hand tightly. That’s when I have decided to do anything for my parents to make them proud. That day onwards, we both started jogging together and became best friends. Discussed many things including our family finances and loans. It made my decision even stronger to make them proud. I found that my passion is in Shooting games and Dad put me in ‘Gagan Narang Shooting Academy’ for Air Rifle. It is a costly sport. I don’t know how my Dad managing the finances. Mobile ring sound brought me to the present .. it’s my Dad from India …My real SUPER HERO!... I determined to win this Championship for him…..

Sarayu V. SOUMYA When it was announced for the third time and people were cheering all around her did Dr.Sarayu Mohan realise where she was and came back from her past. The MJ once again retold her name – The nobel prize for medicine goes to Dr Sarayu Mohan for eradicating Covid 19 viruses with the new vaccine...and she bowed to the audience and triumphantly walked towards her little grand daughter, the wide eyed and ever curious Shruti ,all of 9 years . Returning home, she summoned Shruti to her chambers and asked her totake a bath and come to her wearing a clean garb. As Shruti walked in, the grandmother gave her a quick hug and before the little one could open her mouth to ask anything, the regal older lady sat on a neatly laid clean carpet on the floor, after locking the door. Shruti, today,I am handing over my gift of lingoshi to you, which is passed on as a skip generation strength in our family. My grandma had it , so did her grandma, i have it, and so will you. So listen to me my child, the things i need to tell you , my story, before i transfer the gift of lingoshi to you. With trembling voice which sounded like the one coming from far away, yet so near, the older lady began... “I was all of 9 years old, just like you, when i first realised i was different. I could feel a plant talk, i could understand a butterfly, i could even talk to a cat. I got this from my grandmother when she became very old and was advised rest. She was a very active lady you know.,,.. There was the time, i used to spend hours on the garden, feeling each and every plant, shrub and trees, talking to the flowers and listening to their banter, helping them in any and every way i could. All of this kind of stopped after we moved to the town , after my dad got a better opportunity there. From there, i slowly started forgetting the gift i had, i made friends with my neighbours and class mates, slowly i stopped talking to the flowers and listening to the animals and insects.. i was a normal girl. Some how , i chose to become a vet, as you could see my passion for animals, one day something which changed my life over happened. I was helping a dying tortoise, 8 years back, right after your first birthday, i wanted to give you a gift of a baby tortoise.... The dying old one started to talk to me ... she was seeking her grand daughter for passing over the secret of life.. i suddenly regained all my lost gift of lingoshi and understood her. The tortoise identified the leaf of goosemary , a shrub abundant in coastal areas to be taken by her kind to protect themselves from the covid 19 pandemic, which had struck the world at that point of time. People were living indoors for more than 8 years then and lock downs were on and off at all parts of the earth.. I understood from her and tried to develop the vaccine, which could eradicate the pandemic , and here i am, so that your generation does not know what lock down is and what is covid 19. “ Finished the regal old lady. She looked down to the wide eyed little one, and hugged her again and told “ my dearest, i am here, passing on my gift to you, use it to good cause ...” The little girl, amazed at what she heard just then hopped out of the room...

A dream that weaved love. ANUBIN BINJOY During one calm night in the village of Fatehgarh, an angel from heaven was strolling on the earth. She waded through the waters of the last rain, amidst the dancing fireflies. All of a sudden, the angel felt an aura of a kid’s tantrum from a nearby house. Out of curiosity, the angel went inside to adore the cuteness of the kid. When she entered the room, she saw a charming boy who was throwing the pillows at the door and trying to remove the bedsheets off his bed. The angel became more curious about what have happened in the house. She also heard a young lady weeping in the house. The angel went to the next room and found a thin and pale lady in bed, pressing her face against the pillow and moaning. The angel understood that the lady is a single mother and she is crying because her child is too mean to her. Upon seeing the agony of the mother, the heavenly spirit decided to fix this situation by revealing the kid of his mother’s love. The good spirit waited for the kid to fall asleep. After the boy fell deep asleep for a dream, the angel whispered a magic spell and raised her magic wand onto the sky, then she pointed her glowing wand towards the kid with a calm and gentle smile. The kid jerked at once and began his dream of revelation. In the dream, the boy woke up in the morning without his mother’s call. He felt the day was strange as it was not started by his mother. Suddenly he heard the ringing sound of the school bell and morning chores of the school assembly. He understood that he is late for school and there is no one around him, to pack his lunch and drop him at the school gate. He felt the absence of his mother. He wished he could find his mother, but he could not. He realized that he was alone, and without his mother's help he cannot reach school. He called out for his mother loudly, but it was in vain. First time in his life, he understood what his mother was to him; the mother’s love and care that cuddled him all the time. On the next day morning, the mother came to his room and woke him up for the day. The moment the boy opened his eyes, he wrapped his arms around the mother’s neck and kissed her cheeks. At half asleep, the child muttered “thank you ma”. The lady could not understand what is happening. But she blushed along with tears and hugged him back. For one moment, both the mother and the boy felt that their world are in their hands. From that day onwards the boy respected his mother and he grew up as a good son and the name is the boy is ________!

The Boring beings BROWIN METHOWNA DAVID “ I have to do something, Manu ! I have to meet atleast 5 people a day ! I should do something other than gardening..” “ oh yes grandpa” Manu face lit up as she took a bite of that tamarind sweet her grandfather had made for her “ we can meet on Christmas Holidays” she continued her slurping. “OH THESE BORING HUMANS…” sighed the Trainee fairy sitting on her cloud. “ ITS SO BORING TO WATCH THEIR ROUTINE LIFE! AND I HAVE TO MAKE A REPORT OF THEIR GOOD DEEDS AND WRONG DEEDS… THIS IS THE MOST BORING JOB EVER…THEY DO THE SAME THING EVERY SINGLE DAY!! ” the fairy banged on her desk.. The clouds kept moving.. “WE DON’T COMPLAIN! JUST DO YOUR JOB” said her senior “OFCOURSE I WILL” she replied ************************************************************ It was night.. The fairy quietly took out her net. She had already made up her mind. She swooshed, hoped for the best and threw it down towards the humans and pulled the net up. There were a lot of leaves ,one firefly, one cow and a human! The human wriggled! “IS THIS A DREAM ” he mumbled and froze when he their eyes met... “I AM A FAIRY!” The fairy quickly took charge of the situation. Though she was equally surprised by what her net had caught. “I am the one who writes what humans do every day” “I maintain your record you see” the fairy explained. The old man z mouth remained wide open. “ May I know your name “ the fairy asked “ Am I dead?” the old man asked “Not yet! just tell me your name” “Joe Stalin” he said. The fairy quickly flipped through the pages. “Joe Stalin, I don’t have much time! Look! Just look at your records!” you have been doing the same routine for about 5 years.” “See!!” she thrust the book into his hand. He stared at the page, “ATE, SLEPT,WATERED PLANTS , MADE TAMARIND SWEET” “ATE, SLEPT,WATERED PLANTS , MADE TAMARIND SWEET” “ATE, SLEPT,WATERED PLANTS , MADE TAMARIND SWEET” ………….for about many many pages which he could see.. He saw the same words…

He then looked at her.. “ I am retired u know, what else can I do other than gardening” he defended. “ See we fairies don’t have a life! We live our life through you humans! I am really bored by writing the same thing for 5 years now… I am fed up actually” she said “but what else can I do” the old man was puzzled. “are u a tree? Cant u move? Don’t u want to go on adventures?” she asked rudely The old man was bewildered “I can…” he stammered “well i cant release you until you do something interesting! Adventourus !tonight!” the fairy folded her hand with a evil grin. “ see If you are going to do the same thing for the next 5 years too, I will just copy paste the whole records again and just drop you off my radar” “will I be dead then?” he asked The fairy quickly pulled her net and pointed at the old man. He was just two step away from the brim of the cloud. “ your time starts now “ the fairy said “..and just remember one thing – THIS IS NOT A DREAM”and pushed the man with one prod, down to the Earth. Meanwhile, the firefly stared at the fairy and the cow kept munching the leaves. **************************************** “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” the old man fell with a thud on the road This isn’t a dream he knew for sure now, with the speed he had fallen. He became wide awake.. He saw a nearby shop. The clock showed 8pm. “How am I going to do adventurous now?” He started to scratch his head. “ did the fairy have the power to make him dead ?“ He wondered. Suddenly he heard a lot of jingle sounds. It was a Christmas carols group. And they seemed to be gather near the shop. The guy in the Santa Claus costume hurried inside. He kept his dress near the table and rushed in to take a break. The old man suddenly got an idea. He quickly went near the table and took the costume and slid into it.He then nervously walked to the Carols group . He was santa claus now! “here”they handed him a cup of tea. He quietly took it.. The Hot tea in the cold winter brightened him up… “We have few more houses to go” they said. And the jingling music started..They vistited the neighbourhood homes. It was easy once he realized that no one would know who he really was. He started dancing with enthusiasm and the surprising turn of events… The kids were overjoyed to see him. He saw that even old people had the same happiness in their eyes when they saw him. They all had the same twinkle in their eyes when they met Santa.. they reminded him of his grand-daughter.. Everyone loved Santa. He danced with everyone and the people started dancing with him. He enjoyed this new stolen costume. “All grown ups were once children..” the smiles reminded him “but only a few of them remember it” “And they are very happy of the things that brought in memories of their childhood”- it dawned on him He danced with his full heart. He returned home with spring in his steps. The Fairy had done him a favour he thought to himself. He wished to do something different everyday. But he knew where to start for now.. “ I will open my tamarind candy shop” he thought to himself. he could hardly sleep… …he wondered when the fairy will throw her net again…

He said to himself “I will kidnap the owner and hide him, I will let other planets to blame Chand”. The next day when Sature - a planet orbits to the store, she was surprised to see the owner missing and immediately started to scream. When the other planets heard the scream and gathered, Trito also joined. Then everyone started to discuss in the universe hall, Innocently, Chand said “i have orbited the store yesterday but the owner was there’’. Trito immediately blamed that Chand kidnapped the owner for some reason, soon all planets started to blame Chand for his playful attitude which they will caution every time. But Jupitero, the judge who is always a loyal and senior planet is the only one who trusted Chand. She asked Trito “How can you say Chand is the kidnapper, have you seen him kidnapping the owner?” After that, there was a complete silence in the universe hall. Jupitero handed over the case to Chand as he is the main suspect to check and return with evidence in couple of days. Chand is very surprised to hear suddenly how everybody started blaming him. He didn’t loose heart. He decided to prove his innocence with proof. Chand then investigated to identify the enemies of Mr.Kiggy, the light house owner with Mr.Kiggy’s family. Finally he understood from his family that he didn’t have any enemies as he is a down to earth person, so humble and everyone wanted to become his friend. Chand now questioned all the witnesses and suspects who went to the store yesterday. At the end of interrogation, he identified the loopholes. He got help from his dear friends as well. Secretly he planned the activities to identify the culprit. At last Chand can figure out the master mind is Trito only based on his investigation. Now he played smartly as its Trito’s turn to identify the kidnapper. But during his interaction, Trito lied and got so confused and get caught red handed. Finally the curtain is raised and the day has come to prove his innocence, everyone in the neighborhood orbitted the universe hall. Chand declared Trito was the kidnapper and brought Mr. Kiggy to hall and he narrated how Trito has done it. Then Jupitero was dumb struck. There was complete silence. Trito kept silent as he had no words to speak then Chand said “Trito had kidnapped the store ‘s owner in the late night after the light store closed and I have the evidences submitted before the court. Now its upto the decision of the jury to declare the punishment.” Now Trito broke his silence, ”Feeling sorry for hurting Mr.Kiggy. But my intention is not to hurt him. I always envy this ‘Chand’ as everybody keeps praising even simple acts of his gesture or kindness. Desperately expected someone to praise me and ditch him. Hence made this master plan but unfortunately caught as I don’t know how long to hide him. Its not fair to unnecessarily harm an innocent old mam. So dropped this plan after I came to know that Chand has found him. Now am accepting any punishment from the jury”.

Everyone realized their mistake for blaming Chand in between when Trito is caught red handed. Then Jupitero, the jury said “All grown ups where once children

…but

only

few

of

them

remember it. Its not only the mistake of Trito but all of us who have compared one over another. That made Trito feel bad. When Trito agreed his mistake and didn’t want to harm Mr. Kiggy, he has become good. Also now when he is admitting

mistake,

we

being

God Father of Champakali AJITH KUMAR H Pair of polished black strapped shoes with no laces in it, gray pant with a blue & white checked shirt and red collar. Fairy face with a spike hair, walking in a muddy road beside Seetharama’s mango farm with a couple of stones in hand, and eyes are looking for a bunch of raspuri mangoes, which was hanging outside the compound wall near to the road. Rachan is very naughty boy raised by a small family in the village Champakali. He was found of mangoes, specially the ‘rasapuri’ which is famous in his village. Picking up mangoes from the farm with the help of stone was a regular routine for the boy. They say “Practice makes man perfect” and Rachan was master. On Saturday, while returning home after half-day school, Rachan grabbed a stone from the road and aimed at the hanging mangoes with all his confidence. As always, even this time also he found his target and filled his tiny blue bag with those sweet balls. Rachan aimed at mango as perfectly as Arjuna’s aim at the arrow to pierce the eye of golden fish only by looking it’s reflection in the water at Draupadi’s swayamvar.Arjuna would always check where his arrows hit but our smart Rachan Never worried about where his stones were landing. That weekend did not turn out to be a regular one for Rachan, as the stone landed on Seetharama, the owner of the Mango farm, He was now bleeding as the stone landed on his head. Seetharama was an Ex. Military, served the country with pride and he was a very disciplined man. Spent his entire defense life with respect and dignity. Now Seetharama wanted to spend his retired life in his own village Champakali, by looking after his mango farm. Ex. Army man never shaved his mustache, neighbour kids used to refer him as Virappan Uncle by looking at his mustache. He was fearful and local village people never saw a smile on this guy’s face.Hey… who is that idiot ?..Seetharama shouted and started running towards the mud road. Rachan heard the loud voice from the distance and he observed the boot sound, which appeared to be coming towards him. Rachan got scared and panicked. His mind stopped working. Before he could think about escape plans, he got trapped in Seetharama’s arms. Seetharama dragged Rachan in to the middle of farm by holding his ear while Rachan was crying and asking him to leave. No uncle it’s not me, it was someone else, Rachan lied, trying to save himself. Little boy could not cheat the retired army man. Seetharama spotted Rachan’s dusty hand, which helped him to conclude the real culprit behind the scene. Ex.Army sir never failed in chasing the people who do wrong things. Neither in the boarder, nor in the Mango farm. Thick red rope was tied to the hands of Rachan and he is being tied to one of the mango Tree somewhere in the middle of the farm where no outsiders could manage to enter. It was a shady land covered by the multiple branches and thick leaf roof, sun light was barely touch the ground. Rachan was so scared, started shouting someone to help him but no one could hear Rachan in the middle of farm. “This could be the last day of my life”, Rachan said to himself.

Tell me, Why you stole mangoes from my farm? who is your parents? Seetharama asked multiple questions loudly to Rachan in angry face. Little boy was sacred and shivering. “Your farm mangoes are very tasty uncle, I enjoy and eat every mango by closing my eyes” Rachana explained how he like mangoes in stammered voice. “Mangoes will not come free. I will complain to your parents. Who is your dad?” Seetharama asked again in anger. Please do not tell anything to dad. He will beat me. My dad works in Devajja’s Grapes farm. He bring bunch of grapes every day when he return home. If I ask for mangoes, he will only get me grapes. But I like mangoes more than grapes Rachan shared his feelings in gentle voice by keeping his head down in the fear of looking Seetharama. Devajjaaa… Devajjaaa.. seetharama repeated name in a low tone after taking two minutes to think about him. Are you talking about Hithlumane Devajja ? Seetharama asked in curiosity. ‘Yes’ his grape farm only Rachan replied. I was not a smart kid in the school. To be frank I did not like my teacher. She used to beat me with a bamboo stick for my incomplete home works. Devajja’s grapes farm, which was near the school, was the only reason for my 100% attendance. Seetharama recalled childhood days. Also he remembered the Devvajja’s favorite quote “ALL GROWN-UPS WERE ONCE CHILDREN… BUT ONLY FEW OF THEM REMEMBER IT.” Immediately Seetharama untied the little boy. Then asked Rachan to walk through the exit of farm without saying the single word. Though the Rachan was surprised by this sudden changes in Seetharama, but felt thankful for being released. Without out asking any further question he just ran away from the farm. Deep silence in the farm, it is about inner silence. Seetharama just sat under the same mango tree where he was tied the little boy and closed his eyes gently. 40 years ago in champakali, when the school bell Rung at 3.20pm, I just ran out of the school with my bag, in to Devajja’s farm. The narrow path with the grapes trees planted both the side of it with regular distance. View of deep bluish-purple bunches of grapes hanging from the tree is truly amazing. Devajja would pluck the pair of grape bunches for me every day before I reach him. “Son these grapes are good source of potassium, mineral that helps body to balance the fluid”, Devajja explained and handed over the grapes to me. “How can I forget the person who made my childhood memorable one ? With those tiny purple sweet grapes “. Seetharama replayed his memories. Buddha had gained his enlightenment under Bodhi tree, Seetharama found under the rasapuri Mango tree of his own farm. He thanked Devajja for giving him beautiful memory of childhood and decided to make such a memorable childhood for Rachan also. Seetharama opened eyes and walked to the home in silence with a smile of satisfaction in his face. Coming week Rachan was returning from school in a same route by seeing juicy mangoes with the fear of being caught again if he pick the mangoes. Surprisingly he heard the voice ”Babu” from same person who punished before. Seetharama was standing In front of him with couple of mangoes in hand. This continued for the long time until Rachan left the city for his higher education. Down the line after 30 years, Rachan came back to the Village with lot of memories of rasapuri mangoes and our Seetharama uncle. Rachan brought a mango farm by himself inspired by Seetharama and continued the legacy of giving, to the next generation kids.

Magic at Granny's home D JOGESWARA RAO “Chandu! Wash yourself and change your school dress. How many times I have to told you?“, Vanitha yelled from Kitchen for the third time. No response from Chandu. He was busy in playing game in his Mom’s mobile. He came from school at 4 pm and straight away took mobile in hand. Vanitha’s husband Rajesh was working as a Project Manager in a large Construction Company. Their elder son Surya was studying 10th Standard and Chandran was their younger son studying 5th Standard. Both were good boys, studious and among the class toppers. But, for the past two quarters their performance was going down and their class teachers were warning them during Parents’ Meet. Vanitha was worried and didn’t know how to set things right. Rajesh was very busy in office works and not able to concentrate on children’s studies. After about an hour, Surya came from School. Chandran saw him with fear in his eyes. ‘Anna! Just 10 minutes, I am in 8th level… shall complete and give you the mobile’. Normally, he used to grab the phone from his hands forcibly and start playing games. But, today he wasn’t looking normal. He threw his school bag on a Chair and came to his mother, layed down on the Sofa putting his head on Vanitha’s lap. “Surya! Are you alright?” Vanitha asked placing her hand on his head. “Maa! My class teacher asked me to take ‘Arts Group’ in Plus One because of my low marks. But I want Science Group”. There was a slight crack in his voice.. he was about to cry. Vanitha knew that he wanted to become a Space Scientist. He was fascinated about Astronomy from the childhood. “Don’t worry, I will come to school and talk to her” “No Maa! She’s very strict. She will not listen”. That’s true. Vanitha was more worried now. She wanted to discuss with Rajesh about the boys. Rajesh came from office at about 9 pm, as usual. But there was some unusual seriousness on his face. She asked him what the matter was. “Management appointed me as a Project Manager for a prestigious Govt Project which had to be completed in nine months. They gave me four-member team which is not competent enough. I asked for two selected members. But my boss didn’t accept”. He was angry and tensed. Vanitha sighed and kept her hand on his hand consolingly. She didn’t want to tell him about Surya and Chandu at that time. She couldn’t sleep properly. She wanted to share her feelings with someone. She called her mother in the morning and told her about the situation at home. Her mother patiently listened and asked Vanitha to come over to her place with family this weekend since Surya’s birthday was also falling on Saturday and a change from routine may help them. On Breakfast table, Vanitha announced that on Friday evening they were going to Granny’s place. ‘Hey! We are going to see Granny!’ Chandu was happy. ‘Maa! Mobile signal is very poor there… it will be boring maa’… complained Surya. Rajesh saw Vanitha’s face with a surprising look and nodded his head agreeably. They reached ‘Kothapet’ on Friday evening. It was a village near Nellore. Her father was a retired Bank Manager. Rajesh and Vanitha love this place for its pure air, silent atmosphere, greenery, river water and food. The house had a huge space around with lot of trees and flower plants. “Granny”.. “Grandpa” children ran towards them and hugged tightly. Then came a sound “Bow..Bow” .. followed by a peach-colored puppy dog running into the hall with big ears dangling. “Oh My God!! Very cute dog”… Both the boys are jumping and screaming.. It came running to them and Chandu started running around the hall with fear. Puppy dog chased him with its cute running-style and low barking voice. Grandpa called “Choco! Stop.. come here”. It stopped for a moment, saw him and again started chasing Chandu. All laughed for its reaction. Granny told them that they adopted it after its mother died in a road accident few months ago.

“Boys took Choco to backyard and played. After a long play, they had dinner and slept in the hall with Choco between them. After a long time, the boys did not have Mobile phones in their hand while sleeping. Morning Choco woke them up with its ‘koo..koo’ sounds and licking on their faces. They all woke-up with smiling faces. Granny gave head bath to Surya near the Well and gifted him new dress on his birthday. Took him to Pooja room for prayers. Vanitha asked both the boys to take blessings from Grandpa and Granny by touching their feet. Their Granny and Mom made sweets and tasty dishes for boys. They all went to nearby Temple and offered prayers. They made Surya to give away the sweets and some money to the poor people sitting outside the Temple. All the while, Choco also accompanied them doing naughty things and sounds. Chandu was trying to control it. While coming back from temple, Rajesh chased the Choco to home. He was acting as if he is not able to run to catch it. Choco was running for some time, stopped, looked back and started running again like challenging Rajesh to catch it if he can. Rajesh was shouting Choco’s name merrily and ran behind. The boys never seen their Dad in such a funny mood. Vanitha saw him like this after a very long time. Her Dad put his hand around her shoulders and said “Vani! All grown-ups were once children…But only few of them remember it. Blessed are those who can keep that child alive”. “I fully agree Dad. I am seeing three children here”, Vanitha said. During lunch time, when all sat in the Hall, Choco came from the corner of the room barking. It saw the Carrots in the plate. Though it already had its food, It still wanted the Carrots and was running towards the plates. Chandu went to its way and stopped it… but It was in no mood to stop. Choco was continuously barking and kept trying to escape from him, it was running sideways and between his legs. Granny gave few slices of Carrot with a smile and finally it was calmed down after eating it. Everyone had a smile watching it. Granny broke the silence saying, “Just now Choco has shown us if we ask and fight for what we genuinely want, we will get what we want”. Surya’s eyes were widened thinking about it and so was his Dad’s. They were silent for some time and then Surya said “Mom! Monday I will speak to my class teacher and if required I’ll meet Principal too”... Rajesh told himself “I too will speak”. Vanitha with a relieved smile told “Amma, Appa! Thank you!”. They both winked. Granny asked “Chandu! Do you want to take Choco with you?” “Hey Granny…Wow!! Thank you.. Thank you.. I love you Granny!!”, He in ecstasy.. began dancing. Choco too joined his dance….

Play-Station!! AJITH KUMAR M Tempting samosas lured me towards them, the moment I stepped out of the video game center. It seemed as though the samosas beautifully stacked inside a glass box of the cart are laughing and giggling at me. Video games eat that 10 rupees that my appa gives me for bus and having some evening snack, so that I walk home in hunger every evening. These video games are super addictive that all those memories of losing the game the previous day and all the days before that, pulls me into another game like a magic and eventually I lose the game today too, but I’m not compromised! I will fight again tomorrow. I hear someone yelling out my name, the moment I step out of the videogame center and I see my class-met Raama with a samosa in his hand. He was standing in front of that samosa stall. He called me again and asked me to come near him, I moved towards him reluctantly. “You played the video game?” “Yeah…” “Did you win?” “Nooooo….” while we were chatting, samosa shop Anna, gave me a samosa to me and I was skeptical whether or not to eat it…. before I took a bite, I assured him I’ll repay him tomorrow. While we were having our samosa, he went on… “Why will you play every day and loose every day. How many days will you keep losing money like this?” I dint know, what to reply, so just kept eating that samosa, without uttering a word. He continued. “Shall I say something?” I was like “yesses…” “Why don’t you buy a PlayStation for yourself?” I chocked on hearing that… “Don’t buy a new one, get a second hand one” he replied. “Where will I go for a used one?” I said. He came up with a suggestion “My brother is looking to sell his old PlayStation and get a new one, let me check with him”. As I was thinking… he went on… “Why are you thinking so much? you need not worry about the condition of the PlayStation, my brother is going to get a new version, that’s why he is planning to sell it, so don’t think so much”. The offer looked tempting, I rushed and asked, “How much it would cost?” “5000, may be for you, I’ll ask him to give at 4500” he said. I started wondering, where I will go for that much money! I walked slowly to my house, lost in the thoughts of how will I ever get so much money to buy that PlayStation. What if, I ask money from my dad, what if I ask mom? What if I promise to study well? And get this PS instead of the bicycle that he promised to get me. The moment I entered my house, sight of my piggy bank gave a ray of hope to me, so I rushed to it. That’s the place where I’ve kept all the money that I’ve received from all my relatives. I hurried to break open my clay piggy bank and was heartbroken to see just 247 rupees in it. The moment I entered the school gate, Rama came to me, looked into my eyes, before he asked anything, I told him that I will buy the PlayStation in 2 days. I dint know where to go or what to do to get 4000 rupees in 2 days? We all were asked to wait in the assembly for the annual day practice, I tip toed to the library to steal the old exam answer sheets to sell in the old paper market. While I left the school in the evening, to the old paper mart, my friend Lakshman tagged along and said, you know what? these old useless answer sheets will not get you 4000 rupees, I was shocked. He continued… there is a drainage hatch on the way home, if we steal that and sell it, you might get good money.

I was reluctant, but that only seemed as a possible option to get that PlayStation. The moment we tried to lift the lid of the drainage, someone from the opposite house came out yelling, we started to run. I came back home, heavy hearted. I quickly changed and sat with a book, pretending to study. That’s when I notice, my dad keeping a few thousands on the TV table, for the rent of this month, and he went out. I decided to take 4000, and kept it inside my book. In few minutes, my dad came in with the landlord and he counted the money before handing over to him. That’s then he found out, some money is missing and asked my mom if she had taken some money from there and she quickly responded no. Then the landlord made a bit of a scene and insulted my father and left the place. That very moment, he turned towards me and asked where the missing money was? I believe it was obvious from my nervousness, he slapped me hard for the 1st time in my lifetime and I fell hard on the ground. My dad began searching in my bag. There it was, it fell down on floor, when he shook the book, inside which I had hidden the money. He left the house in complete disappointment and anger. My mother held me in her lap and pacified me to sleep. A while latter, my dad returned home and I woke up with the sound of his bike but pretended to sleep. “He slept?” “Yes, I believe you were a bit harsh on him” “He had his dinner?” “No, but let him take rest, he was so scared” “Did he say anything?” he asked suspiciously to my mom “He took it for getting a PlayStation it seems” “I would have got one for him, had he asked me to get one” “Hahaha, like how you got him a cycle?” my mom quipped. “Don’t mock at me”. “You are not angry on him; you are angry on yourself. When you were a small boy, you did the same thing, got caught by your father and he hit you hard. That’s when you decided, your son should not face a similar situation. Even then, this happened unfortunately. It is not only you, this has happened for me, and Every Grown-ups were once children…. but only few of them remember it. By hitting him, you hit yourself,” said my mom. She continued…. “Had he asked you for a PlayStation, would you have got it for him? No right? That is why he wanted to steal this money”. Appa just left the place quietly. I felt back to sleep… When I woke up the next morning, I noticed a box next to my bed, I opened it…. it was the same PlayStation that Rama’s brother was going to get… I searched for my dad, he had left for work. I dint thank him until today, nor did I steal anything until this moment of writing this beautiful memory. This will remain my biggest thanks to him for my lifetime.

Hidden Gem SRIDHAR H The crowd was humongous. It was like, anywhere you look, you only saw people. Singing, Dancing, Cheering, Shopping, Bargaining. It was time for celebration and nothing else mattered right now in the Kingdom of Udhaya. The capital Udipur was decorated in a grand way like never seen before. After all, it was Princess Suhana’s 15th birthday. King Bhargav left no stone unturned to make this a milestone event in the Kingdom’s history. Princess Suhana was seated next to her father, the King, in the Grand Hall of the palace. This is the first time she has seen the hall in it’s full capacity. Lot of poets, jesters, storytellers, dancers, musicians were performing one by one for her birthday. She was so happy and proud that her father had arranged such an extravagant event. Presently, a poet was reciting poems about her father’s kindness, valor, bravery and benevolence. She was looking forward to her favorite and the main event, 2 hour long “Ramayan” play. Once the poet finished reciting his poems, he was handsomely rewarded. Next came the Jester and entire audience were bursting with laughter. Princess Suhana laughed so hard that her stomach hurt. At that moment, Princess noticed a person, with his face covered, from the back row of the audience, entering “Private Royal” entrance while the guards were distracted by the happenings and laughter in the court. Something did not feel right with the way the person walked in and the princess decided to follow him. She silently followed the man. He was walking though the corridors, checking each door whether it was bolted or ajar. She noted that most doors were locked as it contained royal jewels and dresses. Finally, the man found an unlocked room and entered silently. The man was smart enough not to lock the door from inside because it may arouse suspicion. So, he kept the door ajar, the same way it was before he entered the room. The princess silently entered the room behind him and hid inside a cupboard next to the door and observed the man. Only then she noted the room in which both were in. It was the room which held all the King’s jewels. The man, she decided to call him as thief from now on, was going through the shelves, cupboards and boxes in the room one by one while keeping a close watch on the door. As of now, he had not taken anything nor noticed that she was also in the room with him. After a few minutes, the thief took one of the crowns, which had 10 gems, in his hand and was examining at the gems encrusted within it. He slowly started to remove the gems from the crown, one by one. When the thief removed 5 gems from the crown, he stopped removing and started keeping the crown back in its place. When he was about to keep the crown back in its place, he noticed the King’s life size painting in the room and walked towards it. He was asking for forgiveness. He was crying and pleading that he had no choice but to steal to feed his family who had been famished. Suddenly, there was some movement outside the room. The thief got startled, he dropped the crown and he hid behind a treasure chest. Inside came one of the ministers. The Minister noticed the princess going inside the King’s treasury room. He waited a couple of minutes for her to emerge outside but she didn’t. Now, he was inside the treasury room and was confused as he couldn’t see the princess anywhere. When the minister was searching for the princess, he noticed the crown lying on the floor. He took it in his hands and noticed that few of the gems were missing. Minister thought for a few moments and he started removing the remaining gems from the crown. Princess Suhana was shocked. She could not believe her own eyes. She was too stunned.

At that moment, the door again opened and in came King Bhargav with few of his ministers and guards. “O King, I would like to report a theft. Someone has stolen 10 precious gems from your Crown” reported the minister, who had also stolen few gems. King Bhargav immediately ordered the room to be searched to check if anything has been stolen. Princess Suhana was thinking as to what she could tell her dad. Whether her dad would believe her if she told that both the thief and the minister had stolen. Or will he take his minister’s words over hers? Her thinking was interrupted when the thief was caught. Once he was frisked, the guards recovered the gems which were in the thief’s pocket. When King Bhargav questioned about the other missing gems, “he must have had an accomplice who would have taken the balance gems” answered the Minister. Princess Suhana decided that she couldn’t be silent anymore and decided to come out of the cupboard. “Respectful King, Minister is right, there was an accomplice to the thief but he is still in this room.” King Bhargav was startled at princess Suhana’s sudden appearance. After princess Suhana recounted the entire events, the King remained silent. “She is a kid, my king. She does not know what she is speaking. I have been working with you with utmost loyalty and trust” minister said. It looked like King Bhargav was also concluding that the princess might have been mistaken. But suddenly, King Bhargav ordered his guards to search the minister also. The balance gems were also recovered. “I trusted you and you repay me like this?” questioned the king, sounding more disappointed than being angry. The minister stood there humiliated. “Put them in Jail, we will conclude their investigation tomorrow. I don’t want anything to disturb my daughter’s birthday celebrations now.” said the King. “O King, there is one thing I wish to ask from you” said princess Suhana. “Even though both were thieves, one of them had to steal because of his family’s needs. Though I condemn the act and I deem it is necessary for punishment, one has to account for the fact that even though the thief had access to lot of treasures, he only took what was necessary to save himself and his family. Nothing more, nothing less. So, when you give the judgement tomorrow, I beg you to consider this point” she pleaded. The King was astonished by his young princess’ maturity. The Other ministers objected this plead of the princess. “This will set a wrong example” they all said. “All grown-ups were once children. But only few of them remember it” said King Bhargav to the confused faces all around. “My daughter has shown me today, that being compassionate is equally important to being fair. Among us, only a kid could see the man’s desperation for saving his family. Suhana, I assure you that my judgement tomorrow will be with the same compassion, you have asked me to have. Now, let’s go and celebrate your birthday.” Princess Suhana was sure that her father would keep up his word, as he had never failed her before.

Suffrage RAKESH KADARKARAI J Gilli was excited as he reached home that evening. “We are going to have our first class elections, next week” he told his parents. “Are you going to contest” asked his dad. “No, Gokul, my friend & class topper will be our class representative” “You know that anyone can contest, right?” asked mom. “But better marks mean better leaders, right?” “No dear, leadership is a completely different skillset. And marks alone don’t reflect intelligence.” said Dad. “Then why were you hard on me for not coming first in the mid-term?” asked Gilli to no response. The first time Gilli was exposed to any sort of election is two years back. They had started early to avoid any crowd. He wanted to have the black mark in his fingers like his parents. “Why can’t I vote?” he asked. “You can, when you become adult” said dad. “Don’t I belong to the same place?” asked Gilli unrelenting. “It’s called adult franchise. People believe that only citizens above 18 years can think for themselves and vote” he said. “Then why is mom asking you before voting? She can’t think for herself?” Mom brushed his head with a smile and said “Am just checking if Dad is making the right choice”. Dad just had a smug look on him. Gilli was not satisfied with both the responses. He went to school, eager to know about the procedures for the election. “They are not going to have finger marks for voting” Gilli came dejected from school. “Since your teacher knows everyone in your class, and can ensure you vote only once, they might have done away with it.” said dad. “Gokul was furious when I said anyone, not just the topper, can contest” he said. “So he is unopposed?” asked mom. “Raju, the Ko-Ko team captain is contesting. Since the entire team would vote for Raju, Gokul wants rest of us to support him.” He said “What are his election promises” asked Dad. “He is my friend, isn’t that enough?” “You should look at what he is offering in that position. Your relationship & social responsibilities shouldn’t mix” said Dad. “Gokul is promising an Ice-cream treat and maximum free periods” said Gilli next evening “You should note a couple of things, firstly the ice-cream is not part of his representative duty, secondly he doesn’t have powers to get free periods.” said Dad. “And what about the other kid?” “Raju said he’ll request management to provide better sports kits and more practical’s” “Which one do you think is more useful & realistic” asked Dad. “You want me to vote for Raju?” “Choose needs & realistic things over gifts & far-fetched items” Dad advised.

Finally election day came. Gilli was still not sure whom to vote. He had his fingers crossed, since he didn’t want anyone to lose by a single vote. And the results were declared…. They had the local elections next month. Gilli was more keen on the happenings. “Whom will you vote Dad” he asked. “Probably Jai Bhai, we are from the same place” “Didn’t you say relationships & responsibilities shouldn’t be mixed?” Gilli asked “His party is promising loan waiver, and is trying to regain our glory years” “Didn’t you say to choose needs & realistic things over gifts & far-fetched items?” Gilli continued “You are a kid, you can’t understand” his Dad shut him off His Grandfather had come back the next day after a long trip. “I don’t understand why dad is not following his own advice” fumed Gokul. “Is advice only for kids and not parents?” “You think he was a parent while advising you? All parents are speaking to their own younger version while interacting with their children, advising them to correct mistakes they made as a kid, and perform good deeds they did.” “Your explanation is not helping me” said Gilli “All grown-ups were once children, but only few of them remember it. All you have to do is to make him remember the kid in him” concluded Grandpa They went to a nearby park that weekend. Grandpa was explaining Gilli how a remote locality years ago has turned into a residential colony. “How did it happen Grandpa” Gilli asked. “Well, a group of friends got together and requested the authorities. Whenever the representatives came for campaigning, we asked for the amenities, It was hard initially, but we kept pushing for it.” said Grandpa. “What motivated you Grandpa?” “It was your dad. He was a kid then. He wanted a spacious play ground & park nearby, and always complained of muddy roads while walking to shops or school and the like” explained Grandpa “We still have some problems, rain water doesn’t drain properly. And it smells when the sewage tanker comes.” GilIi complained. As they were on the way back home, dad said “I remember complaining a lot about bad road while I was a kid. Didn’t know that so much work was done from our end to improve it” “You won’t mind it as work when you are doing it for your kids” said Grandpa They stopped at a parlor to get some ice cream. Grandpa got newspapers. Along with the paper came all the manifestos of the candidates in their place. “Looks like only one of the candidates promises to do something about Gilli’s complaints” said Grandpa. “Unfortunately, he’s not popular, may not win” said Dad. As Gilli was browsing through the menu, the waiter said “Vanilla is the most popular flavour here” “It’s ok, I like Pista” said Gilli nonchalantly. Observing Gilli, Dad thought for a while and said “Maybe I’ll choose a candidate who promises what I really want. Even if he doesn’t win this time, more such candidates will come up based on the reception he gets.” “Didn’t I tell you Gilli, All adults were once children, you only have to remind them.” said Grandpa gleefullyP.S: A girl named Neha won the class elections. “Since the vote among boys were split, she easily won” Gokul had explained the reason for his loss to Gilli. And he lost by one vote.

The Gold Fish’s Leadership K.P.HARSHINI A Whale once lived in the Indian Ocean and taught dozens of fish, snails, octopuses, and turtles about Leadership. When the Whale finished the lesson and went to ask questions, heard a strange sound, it was a turtle's snoring noise. The Teacher Whale Said Wake up Wake up It is Not Time for Sleeping. The Tortoise Said I Was Not Sleeping I Was Dreaming. In this situation, all the students were laughing, haa ha ha……. But the tortoise told a lie. Afterwards, the teacher Whale asked to the students what means by leadership person skills." No one answered so goldfish said “it means a person who leads or guides and can make people to do things and he/she will be a planner and believes teamwork. Good now second question “what are the qualities do children have?’’ “This question goes to snail’’ asked teacher Whale. Snail said “child says you give me “ “What are the qualities do teenager have?’’ “This question goes to octopus’’ asked teacher Whale. Octopus said “they will say you don’t worry I will do it “ “What are the qualities do grown up have?’’ “This question goes to python’’ asked teacher Whale. Python said “they will say why not you work together “ “What are the qualities do leader have?’’ “This question goes to goldfish’’ asked teacher Whale. Goldfish said, “The great leadership quality is what I can give to the society?” “Good job all of you” said teacher Whale. When the fish return back to home, At night the goldfish dream about how can we use leadership in real life. “What can I give “ “What can I give “ “What can I give“ The next day the whale was trapped in the net and the fish heard the news and gathered its friends to help the whale. The goldfish gave work according to the strength of his friends. At last, the whale had came out of the net and appreciated the gold fish. And the goldfish became famous leader. Moral: like goldfish we also want to innovate something for our country. The best leadership quality I have learned from the story is what I can give to the society …. “What can I give society?” “What can I give society?” “What can I give society?” Thank you!

Pays you Back D SHARUNETHRA Once upon a time there was a farmer, his name was sengotuvel, he lived with his wife dhanalakshmi in a small village. The farmer and his wife work in the field and returned to the home after sunset. Though the income is very less but they worked hard in the field. One day night there was heavy storm and rain, in that their house and the farm was heavily damaged, the rescue team saved them and took them to a safer building in the nearby town. After the rain they decided to stay in the same place, the farmer was in search of a new house and work there itself. One day his wife got sick and unable to do any work, so, there was no other way the farmer only must work. while he was searching for a job, he got signed in the work in a packaging and transportation company as a packing worker. They told us to come for the first work in the very next day at 6 am itself. They shared the address where the packing must be done, that location was 30km away from his house. While he was on the way to his home, he realized that the bus is not available in early morning, so he was thinking another option for transport. Asking for lift is difficult, the only way is walking when he saw the distance is 30 km from his house, and it takes 4 to 5 hours. Though he was having leg pain, sweating heavily, but he never taken rest and reached the house 30min before .He pressed the bell of the house, the owner opened the door and enquired about him ,he told the whole story to them they were surprised but they didn’t mind more and call him for the work at the outhouse. He started arranging the things. while he was sorting out the things, he found the bag full of gold rather than keeping with him, he gave to the owner immediately. The owner also got surprised because the gold was his ancestor’s property. The owner appreciated him for his honest, after all was done the owner posted the story in the social media it got millions of views and they got donations also one day the owner of the company came with his favorite car and drove it to farmer’s house, and he hand overed the keys to him. He was surprised and shocked and asked the reason for giving the key. The owner replied that you have been an honest worker and you never made excuses rather you tried your best to work and demonstrated your integrity. You may use the bus at 5 o’clock. But you didn’t ask for any lift from anyone, rather you did it with your own steps. So, you are the correct person to take care of my company as a manager. The farmer sengotuvel worked as a Manger and taken care of his agriculture land and his wife and lived happily for a long.
