Magazine Lounge
The Sonar magazine lounge, the designated space of a selection of national and international music, tendency, art and fashion publications associated to the festival, serves as a meeting and relaxation point, situated in the very heart of the festival (Pati Dones), in a music free zone, and one that serves as a connection between the exhibited activities of the CCCB and the open air concerts, A space where the magazine representatives may contact freely with public and professionals, and with decor being specifically designed to meet this laid back, meeting point function where the public, professionals and artists alike can share and enjoy a laid back atmosphere.

Área Demo We are aware of the importance of giving your projects the best visibility, the Demo Area is designed for staging product demonstrations or creating the made-to-measure display you need for an audience that is attentive and alert.

Professional Area
The Professional Area has become a vital meeting point for professionals as well as press members and artists. An area at the S贸nar by Day venue that allows meetings to be carried-out in a relaxed atmosphere. Fitted up with bar service, the Professional Area offers easy access to the festival for those with accreditation.
Forum SonarPro New exhibition space in which companies will be able to display their products. Visitors will be able to see the quality of the product for themselves, ask any type of question and talk to experts from the brands and companies concerned The 'Forum' is one of Sonar by Day's driving activities

Digital Music 2.0 SonarPro presents the Digital Music 2.0/10 seminars, a series of panels in collaboration with the Business Development Service of the Catalan Institute of the Cultural Industries (ICIC). The DM2.0/10 seminars will feature national and international speakers with extensive experience in the world of music in the 2.0 environment, which they will discuss using case studies.
SonarPro activities
Meet the Expert SonarPro is organising Meet The Expert, meetings with experts from various business sectors in the cultural industries, so that SonarPro accreditation holders can ask questions, ask for advice or simply chat with them in 10-minute sessions.
Common Projects Common creation project in collaboration with accreditation holders and festivals attendees. Open to distinctive sectors of the creative and cultural industries (audio-visual, design, musical, technological, multmedia...) Platform for developing ideas linked to a brand or institution that wishes to support the project ( briefing definition, participation model...)
Hotel Pulizter
The terrace of the rooftop of the Pulitzer Hotel, just 5 minutes from the Sonar by Day area, will once again be a meeting point for Sonar accreditation holders this year. It is a place to enjoy music, have a drink and relax from the hustle and bustle of the festival, and an ideal bridge between your time at Sonar by Day and Sonar by Night. The terrace, which has a capacity limited to 100 people and will be exclusively for accreditation holders, will be open on the three days of Sonar from 7pm until 11pm.

For many years bumper or ‘dodgem’ cars were examples of powerful sound-systems and essential outlets for pop music as well as being one of the first entirely urban white-knuckle sports. Sónar pays homage to the bumper cars and gives the public a chance to rediscover them as a source of extra-musical entertainment.

The Public Urban Spanish and European youth According to a consumer study undertaken in Sรณnar, 73% of its attendees were aged between 19 and 30, have middle and upper social economic backgrounds and come from large cities and towns of over 20,000 inhabitants. 57% of the people who attended the festival were from Spain. 37% came from Europe: 41% UK, 17% Italy, 15% Germany, 13% France and 14% from other countries. The remaining 6% come from other world countries: Japan (16%), United States (14%) and Brazil (13%). Highly informed and new media consumer 68% of the Sรณnar attendees had university degrees. They are a very well informed audience with very distinct cultural interests. They come to Sรณnar for its broad and high quality programme. They regard the festival as a paradigmatic and state-of-the-art event in its field. Our audience regularly attends avant garde cultural activities and shows, clubs and concerts, and is made up of electronic and multimedia art fans. They read specialized cultural publications in the daily press, music magazines, leisure and cultural events guides and listen to radio programmes with predominantly musical contents and also watch cultural, music TV programmes and specialized webs. 90% of the 2007 attendees consult webs regularly, 31% enters blogs and 28% participates in chats. 32% are 2.0 webs members (myspace mainly), 37% listen to on line radios and 28% download podcasts.

Sรณnar satisfies the needs generated by an audience with these distinct characteristics and makes a concerted effort every year to furnish the festival with interesting content that possess the basic ingredient: originality and innovation. This capacity to reinvent itself pertains to the constant reinvention on the publics behalf (48% of attendees were first timers) and the fidelity/faithfulness of the other part (52% of attendees have attended more than two editions of the festival.)

Participating Artists Around 661 artists made an appearance at the last edition of Sรณnar in a variety of settings and stages. A total of over 6.827 artists have performed or have presented their work during the seventeen editions of the festival that have taken place so far. The aim has always been to present a programme with quality and representative proposals.
Sรณnarโ s influence on the social and cultural scene During its seventeen years of existence, Sรณnar has become a frontline event on the national and international scene of cultural activities which are linked to new technologies and avant garde artistic creation. Sรณnar has been and continues to be an entry point for new trends and artistic proposals from all over the planet. It is an excellent living showcase of the evolution of the popular culture of our time. The festival has become a first rate intellectual agitator, capable of influencing various social and cultural partners within the country and facilitating the acceptance of the new. Sรณnar is an essential venue for restless audiences.
