She named her tiny resale business "3 Chicks" after her three children, and set out on a new venture, one that Mitch Albom once wrote a stellar truth in his novel began on the tiniest scale imaginable in her For One More Day. He wrote: "Behind all your garage and spilled out onto her yard in Blanco, stories is your mother's story. Because hers is where TX. And from that tiny garage and Rhonda's you begin." strength, desire and determination, Trade Days, an absolutely amazing shopping destination on When you drive into Trade Days on 290 East in 290 East in Fredericksburg, TX was born. Fredericksburg, TX , you are literally driving into one of those stories. And it is quite an amazing How big has that dream grown? It has grown into story that began years ago, just about 40 minutes a shopping mecca of 72,000 square feet of indoor from Fredericksburg, TX. shopping space, 50,000 square feet of outdoor shopping space built by the vendors themselves, It began with one woman, Rhonda Wilcox, who was and also a large section of tent vendors who come a physical therapist, working long hours away from to set up once a month. At Trade Days, you will her three small children, a woman who had the find shabby chic, clothing, antiques and too many desire to start a business so that she could be treasures to count. One could literally wander all day at Trade Days and never begin to see it all. As a matter of fact, it has often been said, "If you can't find it at Trade Days...you don't need it! " And, why has it grown? Rhonda's heart for others. Over 60% of Trade Days vendors have been with her since the inception of Trade Days, and none of these vendors is bound by long-term contracts. Actually something else keeps them coming back year after year. They return because they are working with someone who understands what it is like to have a dream, and they know that Rhonda cares about their dreams as well. Robert Ingersoll once wrote the words, "We rise by lifting others."

Trade Days owners Rhonda and Alan Wilcox

Rhonda Wilcox obviously understands that philosophy perfectly. And Trade Days, in Fredericksburg, TX, is a testament to that.

... the Best of Fredericksburg

They say if you want to know what to eat at a restaurant, you should ask the waiter what is good, and if you are from out of town, and want to know where to eat, you should ask a local. Whether you are in the mood to dine outdoors around a fireplace, or to take the family out for a quick bite, or if you would like to grab a sandwich and a drink while listening to a local band, or simply slip into a cozy booth for a romantic dinner, and let the world slip away for awhile, Fredericksburg is ready to serve up something very special.

Merchant of Excellence OLD WEST SPIRIT There is a very special new place to shop on the corner of East Main and Washington Streets in Fredericksburg, TX. You will know the moment you walk into Old West Spirit that you are in a place unlike any in which you've shopped before. Not only will you immediately be astounded by the beauty that instantly surrounds you—the abundance of exquisite fashion and jewelry is SO amazing—you will also be delighted by the variety of choices in colors, textures and size ranges. It is hard to describe the sheer loveliness of it all! (Think Old West and vintage lace meets Western cowgirl). The store itself is positively breathtaking! However, there is something else that makes it even more incredible, and a delightful place to shop. That would be the owners, Rene and Rebecca Lucero. When you meet them you will understand why. They started out as visitors to Fredericksburg. Their love for our town brought them back here to open a booth at Trade Days five years ago. You will still find them there on the 3RD Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each month. Find them also at Wimberley Market, every 1ST Saturday, March through December. After much success with the shows, and requests by many customers, they decided to bring their dream to downtown Fredericksburg.

She hails from Hallettsville, TX. Her outgoing husband, Rene, originally from Chile, is very personable and knowledgeable about fashion as well. The skills he obtained earning a degree in design from the University of the Americas are evident in the layout of the store, the beautiful window displays, and his eye for color and style. Rest assured that if you take a moment to meet them, it will be apparent that their kindness, passion for fashion and eye for detail, will make you feel pampered and confident in your choices, not to mention beautiful! When you meet the Luceros you'll see that they don't just stand at the counter while you look through the merchandise. They engage with you in a way that is rare these days. What's more, they know what they are doing when they help you select the clothes that most enhance your figure and personality. Plus, they will help you choose the perfect accessories that will make it all come together in style!

So—planning on shopping while you are here? Be sure to add Old West Spirit to your itinerary. Meet Rene and Rebecca, and take Rebecca is a lovely, down to earth, and delightful home, not only a new outfit or two, but also the a on great sense| Twitter of fashion. 32native Texas gal, with confidence that you look truly great in them! It was later deeded to the Pioneer Museum where it now remains on display. “My dad went to that school for seven years, I went to that school for eight years, and my younger brother went to that school for another year after me before he was transferred to Morris Ranch School in 1950.” Charles is the son of Bruno Feller and brother to Stanley Feller. Lillyan’s family immigrated from Germany to Mexico and subsequently moved to San Antonio when she was 9 months old. She often comments that she is disappointed that her German parents did not insist that she speak German growing up, and has lost much of the language. If you haven’t seen Charles around, you may have heard him reporting on our local radio station, KNAF. Charles began working with the station in 1954, and has helped out in various capacities throughout the last 40 years. He currently covers remote broadcasting of farm and tractor shows and other local community interest events. “Occasionally, I am able to interview guests using their native tongue and no one ever complains,” smiles Charles. Charles Feller is one of Fredericksburg’s community treasures, keeping the German Heritage here in Fredericksburg alive, and our community safe. Charles still speaks German at many of the local businesses, auction sales, at Andy’s Diner after church on Sundays, and at Fredericksburg’s annual Schuetzenfest (German for Shooter’s Festival), one of the oldest Fredericksburg celebrations held annually at one of the local shooting ranges. This year’s celebration will be at the Grapetown shooting range, July 30th & 31st, and it’s FREE! If you run into Charles around town, say “Hello!” or “Guten Tag!” whichever you prefer. He promises not to ignore you if you are not speaking German.

... where your heart resides

For some, it only takes a few moments to fall in love with Fredericksburg. People have literally driven through town once, then turned around and driven back to the closest realtor to begin their quest for an address in Fredericksburg. Others have stayed a day or two at one of the many beautiful B&Bs and were instantly drawn in by the warmth of the people and the endless beauty of the neighborhoods and land that unfolds in all directions.
