Following, please find information on selected projects for which Elcowire delivered overhead contact line material:
Wires and ropes for the Koralm Railway in Austria:
The heart of this route is the Koralm Tunnel, which is 33 kilometers long and is the 6th longest railway tunnel in the world. The entire Koralm Railway linecovers 130 kilometers from Graz (Styria) to Klagenfurt (Carinthia).
Deliveries for the general renovation of the Riedbahn (Frankfurt - Mannheim):
The Riedbahn runs through the Hessian Ried via Groß - Gerau, Biblis and Lampertheim. Up to 300 long-distance, local and freight trains travel on the double-track line every day. Within a compact five-month closure, DB is modernizing all systems on the approximately 70-kilometer-long line. This also includes the renewal of 140 kilometers of overhead lines.
Prague Masarykovo nádraží railway station:
Exciting news about the reconstruction of the iconic Masarykovo nádraží railway station in Prague! Here are the main points: Oldest railway station in Prague (since 1845) and the only terminal station in the city. The project costs about 3.4 billion CZK (136 million euros). Construction started in January 2024 and is scheduled to be completed by 2027. Elcowire Rail is supplying contact wires, catenary cables and dropper cables for the overhead line and the surrounding track system.
Tren Maya in Mexico:
Elcowire is proud being selected as a supplier for this ambitious rail project across the Yucatan peninsula. The line stretches from Cancun International Airport towards the South-West calling amongst other locations also at Chichen Itza, Merida, Campeche, Chetumal and Palenque.
Lithuania, Vilnius-Klaipeda railway line:
The expansion of the railway lines is also progressing in Lithuania. Elcowire is supplying contact wires and cables for this important route so that the route can be upgraded in accordance with European corridor planning.
Sustainability, LCC (Low-carbon Copper)
By using LCC as the base material for its overhead line products, Elcowire enables the emission of climate-damaging gases to be further reduced and thus contributes to compliance with the national emission targets according to the Paris Agreement (2015).
Surveillance audit 2024 successfully passed
In July 2024, Elcowire Rail GmbH again successfully passed the surveillance audit without any deviations. The audit was carried out according to the standards
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems,
ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System,
ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System,
ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management Systems.
Elcowire Rail GmbH has been awarded with the silver medal according to ECOVADIS sustainability rating.
