Part 1 What I’ve learned Week 1- History of place/history of space Week2 - Proportions Week 3 - Taking measurements Week 4 - Conceptual Models Week 5 - Papercut Models Week 6 - Building(digital) space In these 6 weeks we were made to - see spaces like architects - explore ways in which place becomes space - measure and project ideas in 3 dimensional ways We were also introduced to many cool apps on the way...

Week 1 (History of place/space) This week we were introduced to Stonehenge...

...Learned to select an image... added a person to give it scale...added a diagram referring to the sun and stars …and made it my own “We all shine on, like the Moon and the stars and the Sun”. (John Lennon)

#WeAllShineOn

#NothingIsBuilt “When there’s anything to steal, I steal”. (Pablo Picasso) I tried to capture the spirit of the place using light and shadows… conceptual model created using Bread Rusk biscuits and a torch light for the sun. “What makes photography a strange invention is that its primary raw materials are light and time”. (John Berger) App : PicsArt

#NoCowOnTheIce ( Actual Photography)

Week 2 ( Proportions) Learned about the relationship and proportion between myself and the world around. First 2 days introduced to 2 glorious places….Zabriskie Point and Nazca in Peru Scale of myself in comparition to the earth and sky... #ThePrimaryFactor

“The primary factor is proportions”. Arne Jacobsen “Man is the measure of all things: of things which are, that they are, and of things which are not, that they are not”. Protagoras

#ItIsNotHow

Font de Gaume entrance ,on my nose... -

overlay the landscape with an image of my body... My face on the South -Eastern coast of India… signifying my love for the sea and beaches… -

use visual analogies underline the relationship between my body and projections of my mind.

Apps : PicsArt & Google Earth #ThereIsNoExcellent

Week3 ( Taking Measurements) Learned to - measure using specific tools to give some dimensional information... - approached the idea of space … This week we got lost within a world of labyrinths and mazes... Played a maze game “Monument Valley”

#ThereIsNoNeed

Layed out a maze for an ant...

“There is no need to build a labyrinth when the entire universe is one.” Jorge Luis Borges

#AdversityIs

Generated own maze using “Maze Generator”

“Measure what is measurable, and make measurable what is not so.” Galileo Galilei

Learned to … ...transform an existing ( interior & exterior place into a spatial labyrinth Place in my house which looked like a maze... “ For the wise man looks into space and he knows there is no limited dimensions” Lao Tzu “Not all those who wander are lost”. J. R. R.Tolkien

The 'baoli' is a famous Stepwell in New Delhi, India. The entire complex is subterranean and the entire structure unfolds itself as you walk towards the stairs leading down to the ground water. App : PicsArt

A special place in my city which felt like a maze…

Week 4 ( Conceptual Models) Learned to … -

transform our bed and blankets into prehistoric caves to work with lights

Learned to… -

make a conceptual model of a given place’s spatial qualities using the simplest material cheese & white paper make a cross section understand the importance of medium

#YabbaDabba

#WhoWouldBelieve

“Who would believe that so small a space could contain the image of all the universe?” Leonardo da Vinci App : PicsArt

Part 2 What I’ve learned from others In these 6 weeks I came across such a variety of wonderful work …

Each one in it’s unique way taught me so much...

It is hard to choose a few as all were wonderful… Here are some which taught me how to use certain elements ...

Using imagination which left me awestruck & amazed

Images which leave a lasting impression

Images which showed me less is more

...how to use colours in a glorious way

Images which give a sense of peace

Using light & shadow to create space

How to create an amazing atmosphere

Some more images which taught me so much‌

Part 3

My Special Mental Space

During the duration of these 6 weeks I found myself creating 3 special places...

My Special Mental Space (1) By the end of the 1st week I found a connection between a place in nature and my mind…why it looked like a place... added a diagram...and some stones... Trees make a place around us. Trees are a living record of our past. People feel the same conditions that impact a tree's growth. The rings of a tree to me signify our life stages, the different ups and downs in life and incidents or situations which might leave a scar on us ....

#YouGetUp

“You get up early in the morning and you work all day. That’s the only secret”. (Philip Glass)

The start of a peaceful shrine in my place and space. #ThereIsNothing App: PicsArt

My Special Mental Space (2) On the 3rd day of the 2nd week visited Lascaux... Found an empty space there and used graffiti on rocks to show my place…

#TheEggHas Living among a community… celebrating, praying and having fun together but also having our own space… a world of my own….within the cave...my place inside...

App : PicsArt

My Special Mental Space (3) Used the elements we learned to build in the 6th week to build my special place. A protected space for me to rest... #TheEgoIs

“What does a house want to be? Louis Kahn

#ToGatherHoney

A place for me to enjoy ,party... with my loved ones & friends...

Thanks to all the cells and my peers for making this a wonderful journey‌ Waiting for the final part ...
